If i was able to get my money out on jan 27 i would have gotten 820 per coin it is now down to almost 600 plus i paid 25 percent markup  on the 27th. I wrote mt gox support that they were costing me money by not allowing me to cashout while bitcoin plummets largely because of their action here is what they wrote.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank-you for contacting MtGox support.

Unfortunately we will be unable to help you out in regards to the price fluctuations. These are purely dependent on the market. We apologise for any inconvenience that we may have caused. We are working on this to bring back things to normal.

Best regards,

MtGox Team

You can't argue with stupid can you? I guess it is my fault i have lost an additional 200 plus dollars since they have held my money ransom not theirs. Languages suitable for large financial services:

  • Java
  • C++
[ ] PHP
You forgot COBOL.

Seriously, the choice of programming language is not important.  If you write in a language you know well, and you know how to debug, there is less risk of introducing unintended functionality or side effects.  Also known as bugs.  I use perl for my financial services, handling large amounts of bitcoin and fiat.  It is not on your list, but it is well suited for me because I know it well.

A large number of attacks exploit a weakness at a different layer, and to a large extent the higher level code rests on these layers.  For my part, the language of choice for implementation of applications level tools is very secondary to many other system design details, and many of these are not even computer related.

The exception in my mind would be Java.  It is a huge and complex system.  I've known some extremely competent and productive programmers who work with Java.  The unifying feature is that they all seem to throw caution to the wind when it comes to SCM and just trust that someone else is doing due diligence.  Or more usually don't even think about it...and most coders are dimly aware at best of threat models that can impact security.

^^^ cryptocoin not a ponzi scheme, it is wealth transfer vehicle, very useful in wartime.  It is being cobbled together, but that's a good thing in terms of: The enemy would never give any means of capital flight for the masses, in WW1 and WW2.

Shicklegruber actually allowed some German Marks out to fund Israel, but the new war capital flight will be for all.  We can all be Oscar Schindler now.  Yay!

Remeber: Bretton Woods and the 1913 Federal Reserve secret meeting, are all done IN SECRET.

Here, you have the new way:  The whole world sits around and bitches that IT is not "fixing it fast enough."  Hahaha, epic thread here.

Just have the world switch gears to crypto and ditch the bankers as fast as possible, when world GDP goes from debt-as-money fiat into true mathscoins of good merit and good people working that mathscoins, well then the entire octopus will be killed in one glorious moment.

It seems stupid to punish Goxies in terms of price.  I mean, holding coins at Gox isn't like holding irradiated shit.  These prices are way low, and there WILL be coins at the other end.  I think Gox buyers and holders are making future profits by holding at Gox.

What's the risk of holding BTC at Gox?  Any coins "spent" twice will not match with the verified correct blockchain so those double coins will be lost but so what?  People, why not do the TRUE MATH of what Gox could or could not have done, with their arb position.  Where are the coins?

Implying Gox is working the thing, is kinda silly but certainly our best bankers of today are pure criminals, so if the Goxxies are even 1% better than these shithead bankers, then I say Gox should become bretton woods part tres.

We have proposed a solution that would allow people sending bitcoins to track sent coins no matter what happens in terms of malleability (a solution that can be applied quickly and without breaking anything), and the Bitcoin developers are preparing ways to prevent modified transactions from being relayed by the network (which will take a lot of time and may break some bitcoin custom clients).
again, laying the boot into the devs and bitcoin network.
no word on the why's and how-to's regarding excessively delayed fiat withdrawals.
the man is a liability to himself.
No, Mark is referring to this ongoing work.  You can verify the claim there if you wish.  All clients will have to be upgraded to enforce this behaviour.

regardless, it was not necessary to include that type of wording. There are a range of phrases which may have been used to state that custom clients may require updating - post fix. This man has been blaming everyone but mt gox on the problems which mt gox are suffering, and this is just another snide comment. he is a liability.

Yep, a loose cannon. The better MtGox dies, the better for everyone. Including sturle, though he doesn't know it yet Smiley

you can't kill strudle!! this thread would just be plain boring without him! LOL
