The cashless policy is taking effect gradually, but the e-naira is not a responsible channel that can help further because it was not planned to enhance inclusivity. Have you noticed the charges on the app? It's exploiting, CBN did not get it right with that, such an app is supposed to transfer for free between users, or with a ridiculously low amount of money to encourage users.

Also, the CBN cashless policy will help in checking a lot of things, but the defacing of the Naira note is not part of it. However, this may only reduce because the currency will still be in circulation with the N20,000 daily limit and a whole N100,000 limit, so many would still deface it with the little they have in their possession.

I wish they (corrupt people) will let the cashless policy come to light as politicians are now using every means to fight back. Can you imagine Emefiele being labelled terrorism financier in a lawsuit? They are using DSS to perpetrate this with every opportunity to oust this guy due to the policy targeted against corruption amongst others.

Honestly eh, this country is just messed up. We have a judiciary that is not independent. We have EFCC that is being used by some top politicians to intimidate and harass people who do not bow to them, we have the DSS that is just in bed with government and also been used by them to carry out their witch hunting. All these folks are the enemies of the state. And the funny thing is that they have all these guys at their command to do their bidding at a moment's notice. Even though I am not a huge fan of oga Meffy, what has DSS go to do with. Why is it that it was as soon as he did this monetary policy thingy that he automatically became a "terrorism financier"?

I hope this new cashless policy will be able to tackle and reduce the misuse of naira notes in the country.

The cashless policy will be unable to do very much right now, unless you can say a greater percentage of persons are full users of the e-naira app and acceptance of CBDC for trade and other commerce.
Awareness campaign adverts on newspapers, TV, magazines, radio, Internet and word of mouth approach can help sensitize individuals on the way and manner to respect the national currency no matter how undervalued it is right now, also it will help the misuse of the naira notes to be curtailed.
True true, it remains fact that people only give respect to what's more important on the hour.

In any project created, there is a targeted audience. And the targeted audience for cryptocurrency is the world youths. And when bitcoin came to Nigeria, it was the youths key into it and when the Nigeria government discovered that, the Nigeria youth used bitcoin massively in the #endsars protest and they used bitcoin to sponsor the protest with millions... And they could not do anything to stop the coin so they created e-naira, though the e-naira is meant for everyone but the specific targeted audience are the youth.
The only way the e-naira can work perfectly in Nigeria is the time when the government create it as a decentralized exchange platform and by that most Nigerians will use it to keep their naira...and if possible they should give rewards to some first users for like 6 months. Then people will be tripping in. But as for me the decentralized exchange with free charge rate is the best. Or very low fee rate like BTC.

Yes the youth has a low percentage in the national fiscal policy but not in the internet or online transaction... nobody will tell me that the Nigerian Youth has a low percentage on e-transaction but for the physical cash policy they are.
Ops I bolded some words and sentences in your comment to point out some inconsistency in your use of words, and from the look of things, it seems you are mixing up things here I will advise you to take your time to read more on some terms before using them. Such as you saying e-naira which is a CBDC to run on a decentralized exchange which is in no way possible, even the E-naira is not blockchain-based, talks more it being decentralized when it is created by a centralized institution like the CBN. The point I was waiting for and expecting your contribution on was, the extent to which Nigerians have integrated the e-naira into their banking system and the percentage of usage and accessibility of the e-naira by ordinary bank users in Nigeria. Mentioning End sars has nothing to contribute to this discussion after all donations during the end sar were not accounted for since it was done using a decentralized currency BTC and other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum which make it hard to trace its origin or amount donated, End star has nothing to do with Bitcoin growth in Nigeria unless we the genuine Bitcoin users want to mingle our self with the criminals corrupt politicians and yahoo boiz in Nigeria who sees Bitcoin as a safe haven for their illegal money laundering.
Any one that was deeply involved in the End sars will know by now that the process was corrupt and just a few set of people embezzled the funds and it not ordinary that some of them their accounts were blocked after the end Sars protest. In fact the negative impact of the end of SARs was deeply felt when Twitter was a banned in Nigeria for almost a year, and I hope you know End SARS protest started from Twitter, and even the then twitter CEO made some bitcoin donations to support the struggle, the point is trying to make is Bitcoin in Nigeria should not be seen or treated as an exit from legal monetary transaction or money for the dark net but Bitcoin should be seen as an alternative to the Naira and every process should be followed in using both currencies but one can not exit without the other, Bitcoin can not be used for a daily transaction unless it gets exchanged into Nigeria before we can use it for payments.
Another point to note is, Satoshi did not mention youths as the targeted audience for bitcoin, but a general alternative currency for all ages, but because of unemployment, Nigeria youths have picked cryptocurrency as a way to be financially independent and trading has been the major legit source that made cryptocurrency trading volume high in Nigeria I could have mentioned this forum as another legitimate means of earning cryptocurrency BTC but we have lower percentages of Nigerians on the forum to make up for any number.

There are money handling policies in the eastern world; if you squeeze a US dollar in that manner, you will be arrested or the money will be rejected because banks do not accept or distribute dirty notes. Nigeria has far too much freedom, which makes us appear foolish.

This is one of the things we need to emulate as a country. The proclaimed Giant nation of Africa is still left behind. Our money is not valued and we as citizens are contributing to it with the way we handle and abuse the naira notes. Just see the way many celebrities spray and match the Nigeria currencies in occasions and clubs. If we want a change in the country, it has to begin from us. I hope this new cashless policy will be able to tackle and reduce the misuse of naira notes in the country.

We will continue to cry out about this careless behaviour from Nigerians but without strict and well monitored rule it will still be occurring. I once heard of the government passing this law for punishment against money squeezers but it never got approved by the House members maybe because they are all victims of same circumstances.
Sincerely its disheartening seeing how Nigerians rubbish the country properties even physical amenities like roads are been treated badly. You see people dumping refuse on the roads if you ask an average Nigerian why they do such things their response is always "na your papa get am" sincerely this careless behavior is even why the government treat us like trash. And once you advocate about how bad it seems people start labelling with the tittle "oyinbo man".

The first thing I will like Agbe to answer is, how many Nigerians not only the youths have access to the e-naira?
Because I don't know if is only me that has experienced a delay in setting up my e-naira wallet since it was launched some time ago and I believe so many other members here have experienced the same thing, so how can an e-naira whose scalability is not achievable within the citizens have anything to compete with cryptocurrency whose is easily accessible to all even newbies can easily own and use Bitcoin even though it is blockchain build with all the complexity that comes with blockchain that made the Nigeria central bank to run away from allowing its operation in the designing of the e-naira. I know there is need for awareness on every government's policy and every other thing as it concern human, but let's not ascribe local currency shortcomings to cryptocurrency or mention Youths whenever such discussions come up, because the youths have the lowest percentage in Gov-CBN monetary policy because the old men are the ones in the office and stealing and using Naira, the youths purchasing power is low in 9ja and that is why when cryptocurrency come up as an alternative to the centralized red-tapism of the financial system the youths embraced it as a better alternative to fait
Even at that, if you check the percentage of cryptocurrency users and holders in Nigeria, the youth may fall behind even to the old forks and the corrupt politicians, who are no different from Yahoo boiz, even though youths is mentioned as frontline crypto adopters in Nigeria.

Many gamblers made big money from their bet yesterday, because they predicted for d favour of Argentina despite the game nearly go for d favour of France. I like d way France equalized the goals and follow Argentina to the penalty point but Messi prove it again by taken d team to win dis year FIFA world cup. Even though Messi resign today he have something to show that he was a great player in the whole world with dis precious title he just achieve so.

The Naija & BSFL Sherrif 📛
I was watching Kakaki AIT yesterday morning and Economy  experts were saying some the reasons why the e-naira (cashless policy) is not working and how to achieve the purpose of the cashless policy agenda. According to she, federal government should provide an awareness campaign for the e-naira. She again, because of of no awareness given to the youth that is why they are using cryptocurrency more than the e-naira.
IMO, it is not because of awareness that the e-naira is not popular, people know about the e-naira and know also that the benefits do not outweigh that of cryptocurrency. It is still not the number one choice for people when the two options are presented. If the government is to convince the youth to begin and adopt to usage of the e-naira, it must be able to outline the benefits that it has without comparing it to cryptocurrency. Making a comparison to know the better between cryptocurrency and the e-naira will be a lost battle for CBDC's for the well informed youths.

You are right. The CBN's first approach killed the entire project, and lack of awareness also contributed to the project's demise. CBDC has no comparison with bitcoin/crypto, it's still fiat but it gives you more access to be your own bank, unlike bank apps where you don't have access to most features, the e-naira app solves that. It was a good project, and I believe the new cashless policy will revive it..

No currency 4 dis world wey no dey dirty or get squeezed but d authenticity of d currency fit withstand more time. But e no bad reach make naija currency be like dis 4 just a day, na lie dem dey like, na mischief makers do am like dat, no be d currency weak reach so. See, conditions dey wey u go subject dis currency to wey go make am look liks dis. Dem fit do am so to get public attention, which fit send traffic to their website with other benefit wey fit follow.

There are money handling policies in the eastern world; if you squeeze a US dollar in that manner, you will be arrested or the money will be rejected because banks do not accept or distribute dirty notes. Nigeria has far too much freedom, which makes us appear foolish.
