I can live with these restrictions for the good of SPAM stomping.

brilliant idea 1:
I think it'll be a little less annoying if staff could pin a post for newbies on the discussion page directing them here.
Took me a while to figure out why I can't post

brilliant idea 2:
.. now, if only we could use all this newbie idle time to somehow mine coins...

Bitcoin today is what the internet was in 1998.

In the "Show new replies to your posts." is there a way to remove posts you don't want to follow any more?

Afraid not, it's one of the many failings of SMF software. I have way too many in mine as well, I just open the ones I want to read in a new tab, and then hit mark all as read to clear the rest. I would love if there were a "track topic" that you could use to add/remove threads from there without having to post "sub" or some other useless post.

Well you can always delete your post, that can be hard to do in threads with a lot of pages.

Heh I was wondering the same thing! "Notify me of replies" under "Additional Options" simply subscribes/unsubscribes you from being notified of replies via email, not from "Show new replies to your posts."

Second the view that it should be clearer on the signup page though... Mine was somehow in Russian??

The registration page has intro text in both Russian and English. They say more-or-less the same thing.

Of course all first posts seems to be here, either to praise or condemn these restrictions.  I'll do neither and simply state how much I'm looking forward to meeting the minimum requirements.

Good forums have restriction, so If there are restrictions have to be respected.
If you are new. They watch your posts and if your posts are okay, than you go to next level.

Well, slightly annoying for new starters, but if it saves the forum from being spammed, sounds like a reasonable approach to me.
