True, newbies who just know about cryptocurrency shouldn't buy new created altcoin because new coin nowadays are not good.
Even crypto early comer should be caution of new altcoins, we should not buying the coin unless we really know about the project.
Top existing altcoins maybe expensive, but the value of the coins are more stable than new coins.
Now the situation is different, so newbies who are just getting into crypto must learn and get to know some of the top Altcoins so they don't get caught up in the new Altcoins, because in this case it is very clear that the top Altcoins have more potential than the new Altcoins at this time.

Yes, I recommend my friends to invest only in the top 100 altcoins. Better if they invest 70 % just in Bitcoin. Newbies should first learn a lot about the cryptocurrency market before investing in new projects.
Not top altcoins are safe. Even some scam & shit altcoins already in top 100. Few days ago SushiSwap CEO scammed & Sushiswap is now 60 no position. Better to invest wisely not invest by coins rank.
the range for the top 100 coins is still quite risky for newbies. In fact, I only chose a few coins from the top 20 to make transactions or hold. to be honest, I'm the type of person who is pretty afraid of holding new coins in the long run. because of that, I always aim for one of the top 10 coins on coinmarketcap to hold for the long term.

Like Sushiswap i would stay away from that project cause it definitely a scam and the owner did run away and came back to take more more from investors. Better to make a safe plan and invest on what you could afford to lose as we dont know what is the safer projects that will not turn to scam or perhap can drop easily at the market.

It does not always takes long time for all the coins. For example just consider ETH. It has grown enough in the past 3-4 month. From 200 USD to 450+. What else one can expected from any kind of investment.
Remember that Ethereum found at 2015 to be recognize in the community and in 2016-2017 was really a great day for ethereum. You probably did not know that, just don't judge something from the short time.

for new comers, it is the safer way to invest on old altcoins cause those are already proven themselves and still going ahead with theirs best ideas. no doubt about the performance of those altcoins & considered as safe. New altcoins may goes wrong for beginner, as because they don't have privious expriance about that matter.
Not all of the new altcoins are bad and also not all the old altcoins are safer to invest. Do a proper research on everything, just don't do a blind pick even it's on the top one. Know your place and the right time to invest is a crucial stuff to think about.
That was correct because i am also thinking like that before that. After seeing ethereum can jump over $1k high was absolutely a mind blowing to me.. From $100+  to $1k it was a very happy day to hold ethereum for me. Just think cryptos space are really huge anything can be still goes up if there was a lot of supporter wanted the coin. It will bring the price up that yourself cannot imagine about it.

I agree. Newbies are safer to hold or trade the most 10st on coinmarketcap. These coins is better than a new projects. Be carefull for a new fake defi project that only pump and dump only.
And in addition, Bitcoin is still the best coin to invest.

Some altcoins bags are been sold at the moment and traders might need to be careful. Old coins that had lost the community without any development could loss whales in such community. For any coin losing price and position in the coinmarketcap without any bad news is sign that things could be winding up gradually, some even got bad new e.g is the ETC, NEO etc.

Better to assess if you have plans in participating and investing to any project around the market,
old coins have a good chance of bouncing back even the value is down, remember that the big bull
take place and bring all those hypes.

There's no safe in terms of investing to this market, as any moment fluctuations will hurt your asset.
The more you understand the setup the safer you can be in choosing what particular coin to invest.

Yes absolutely. Mostly the newcomers in this crypto space think that this whole market is full of profits. So it's okay to invest anywhere. And most of the time they end up in scams or in loss. So it's highly recommend nthat if you want to invest then first gain some knowledge, watch the market and then go for investment. And if you in hurry and want some fast investment then you can go for some highcap coins with bitcoin. This kind of coins are less risky that small cap coins. That's it.

Why is it not profitable? The projects in the top 20 coinmarketcap are always growing and profitable for investors, but it takes quite a long time for it to grow. And investors need to be patient enough to benefit from them

That's because we are in a bull market, and the price went up strongly in the short term. But if you invest them in a bear market, I believe it will take you a long time to make a profit. Btw 3-4 months to get 2x profit is actually quite a long time, other altcoins can give you the same profit in just a few days

Im a newbie and i have been sticking to the known coins. I dont think ill be able to dive into the lesser known coins very soon. Im not confident enough on investing to new stuff tho ive been doing my research on some projects.
people would think like that. however, I also had the same thought. it's just that, I'm more confident about the coins I hold. however, I still choose safe coins or tokens that are in the top altcoin line. i feel it's much safer than doing research on new coins.
This is fine if you had a diversify bag. But if you only have less than 5 top altcoins in your bag then it isn't good to sit too comfortable on a few coins only. Sure it takes more time and effort to research on new coins but it helps you diversify your bag. Newbies are safer with top altcoins but don't stay too comfortable and forget about diversify your bag.

I joined crypto in 2017 and until now I still find it difficult to find or choose which project I should hold for a long time and it is true that the safest point is to keep your assets in the top 20 coinmarketcap, at least the project already has a very clear roadmap and team.
But that will not bring you a good profit. Many newbies don't abide by that rule because they are too immature, with not enough skill and knowledge to venture out top altcoin on CMC so usually failed in their investment.

Seek for more crypto knowledge before investing in new projects, it's not always that easy to choose, as a newbie it's better to stick with old top altcoins on coinmarketcap, why? Because many newbie are in rush to make fast returns, if you are this type pls go for better top coins, 90% of new coins aren't serious at all, they are here to steal money from investors and give fake promises in return

Newbies are safer with top altcoins until they start learning how to choose wisely, do better diggings on new project to avoid scams

Cov-19 have been used to scam many newbies and even Corona virus coins are built too which have no real use cases

Play safe and be willing to learn

newbies can't invest their money in new projects just like that without some knowledge. not only for some newbies, some veterans still do the same thing as newbies. they still fall into scam projects. they want a big profit and returns in a short time. people are greedy, we must to endure that and it's really difficult to do. it will be better if some newbies try to investing their money in BTC first, before invest it in altcoins or new projects.

They are, but so are other in the crypto space. Even if you are a crypto veteran who has been on the crypto scene for 5+ years, you will always be "safer" holding (for example) ETH than some sub-top 100 altcoin, so the seniority of the individual is not playing a big role here, even if the veterans tend to do their due diligence more often and more thoroughly.
But for the veteran with 5+ years of experience in cryptocurrencies it will not be that difficult to identify good sub top 100 altcoins as compared to a newbie who just entered the world of cryptocurrencies. So it is advisable to those newbies who are entering just now with all this DeFi hype going on so as to educate them and help them keeping their money to themselves and not just invest in any altcoin or token promising huge returns for investors or maybe some random person on Twitter telling his followers to invest in a particular scam project that offers huge returns in a small amount of time.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Most of the time newcomers come to this market and think that this market is made by profits. Which is not the case. So they think about high returns or overnight rich. So they end up being in loss most of the time. That's why before any kind of investment you should gain some knowledge about this market. And if you want to invest fast then you should stick with bitcoin and other slte which have high marketcap like ethereum, cardano, eos. Bit before any kind of investment you should learn where you are investing.
