First and foremost, newbies should have the majority of their portfolio invested in Bitcoin. I have nothing against the altcoins, but most of them are not doing that good. Even the king of altcoins (i.e Ethereum) is facing a lot of issues now. The development of Ethereum is proceeding at snail's pace, and recently they have missed many of their original timelines. The other alts such as ADA and XMR are doing even worse.

but even btc had some worst experience too .  there are bad time and good times for each and everyone of them but at the end of the day those coins are still labled to be as a top coin . bad times wont easily fade thier price and most of all they can still recover  , thats why people consider them safe and people recomend them for starters . top alts is fine but btc more better ,  if i were too choose but if we have a good capital , we can grab both of them

But still, they need to do their own research to those top Altcoins in the market. Not all of them will give a profit in the future as some Altcoin will always decline the rising of its price when the others are going up. If you happened to chose the wrong coin, you will only get jealous of those who managed to invest on the right one. Don't rush on investing rather do the basic thing like we did when we are first introduced to this industry as a newbie. More knowledge will get you benefits in the beginning and in the long run.

Scammers will always try to scam using new projects, open your eye very well before investing, make sure the project team are real and have the proper training to bring a project to success
I have seen many projects built by reputable and famous people in this market. But in the end, those projects still die and become scams, it's too dangerous for us to invest in new projects at the moment, it can die anytime.

Quite right, it is not worth immediately for beginners without experience to invest in new altcoins, of course, with the exception of cryptocurrency companies that conduct IEO on exchanges such as binance, and of course it is always better to invest in the most top cryptocurrencies.

I agree that newbies are safer with top altcoins especially these days that there are lots of new shitcoins coming out to scam a lot of people so if you are a newbie when it comes in cryptocurrency make sure you have enough knowledge to go where you want to invest so that you avoid loss of profit.

Newbies will never have the experience of choosing altcoins to invest. And just as you said, the top altcoins will help them limit the risk in this market and can bring them profits. If they try to invest in other altcoins, I believe they will fail soon

For the beginning of their investment (beginners) is very reasonable to choose the top coins first. after understanding everything, both a big risk and a big chance of failure. So it never hurts them to try to another altcoin, to be able to get huge profits on other altcoins. But it must be remembered that the risk of failure and loss must be understood in the future, when experiencing it.

Seek for more crypto knowledge before investing in new projects, it's not always that easy to choose, as a newbie it's better to stick with old top altcoins on coinmarketcap, why? Because many newbie are in rush to make fast returns, if you are this type pls go for better top coins, 90% of new coins aren't serious at all, they are here to steal money from investors and give fake promises in return

Newbies are safer with top altcoins until they start learning how to choose wisely, do better diggings on a new project to avoid scams

Cov-19 have been used to scam many newbies and even Corona virus coins are built too which have no real use cases

Play safe and be willing to learn

As a beginner, it's really hard to trust coins that don't have a strong foundation. I would prefer to trust coins that have shown lots of achievements in time. The best thing to do as a good start is to adopt the basics and choose what to trust. Trading and investing aren't about choosing what to invest but how to deal with every market situation.

Veterans are safer with the top altcoins as well, the only difference is they do not really feel like they need it and they want to make more profit with smaller ones, hence they work on it a lot more. Newbies could work on the smaller ones as well, there is nothing that stops them however veterans have been here for a long time and even though they do get it wrong plenty of times as well, they at least know whats the difference between a scam looking one and a good looking one.

Of course a good looking one could turn out to be scammer or maybe just a straight up failure but if you are a veteran its a less likely possibility that you pick a scammer one. When you are a newbie whatever you look is brand new for you and you have no idea how you can sense a scam.
Right! That's a risk for newbies when you pick a brand new project to invest in. However, I believe newbies nowadays have acknowledged a lot of things from old traders' experiences before joining the market. It's doesn't matter you're new or old to the market, as long as you have the proper knowledge and skills, you can go ahead and make an investment decision based on your analysis!

Top altcoins does not know if you are a newbie or a professional, likewise crypto currency trading does not identify anyone by who they are. If you follow the wrong principles of investments or trading, you have a higher tendencies to more loss.

As a trader, an investor or an hodler you need to put your ranks aside, and work on a strategy that brings you profit steadily.

Newbies have less experience about how coins works in crypto space, many new altcoins create hypes and FOMO to lure newbies, if you are a newbie it's better to try to learn from old members on here, past experiences can safe you from silly mistakes, only if you are ready to learn

This what's I've been telling to all my friends coming in the market to only look on the top 10 coins in the market and never go further until they matured and want to add more in their portfolios, they should do the right thing and the best way to make a profit and increase their portfolio, I ask them to at least give themselves up to six months or longer before they look for more coins.

Agreed. The main problem is, Most of times newbies select shitcoins without having any idea, that's because they want have profit fast. That's the reason behind they experienced loss.
Buying top altcoins would be good choice even if they don't know about those properly
They are only interested in the hype of that altcoin, if that altcoin is pumped or fomo then I believe they will plunge into those projects and invest. After that the prices collapsed and they suffered losses many times, many people are stuck with similar projects in this market.
Newbies always want to get instant money, so they often get stuck with coins that are pumping. They thought by buying Pump coins they would be able to instantly make a profit, Though Pump coins are very risky if we buy it, it's better to buy potential coins in the top 10-20.

Nope, that's a wrong advice. No altcoin is completely safe to hodl. I have seen top altcoins go down and never rose after a crash. I once bought Walton at $15+ a few years ago and today that Walton is less than $0.50. At the time I bought it, it had nice volume and was a top one on the CMC list. Did anyone also remember that at a point Ripple went as high as $3+? But today, it's barely $0.30. So, no one can say for certain that such an advice is golden. Today's top altcoins can easily be down tomorrow. Crypto is still volatile and anything can happen at anytime. Just know this. Only look out for altcoins with utility and buy, irrespective of their position at the moment on the list.

I think there is no safe altcoins investment either it was in a top 10 of Coinmarketcap. Market is volatile and investing is so risky ,so much better to learn first as a newbie some important method about investing. Also start only in a small amount to invest while keep on learning. Study the market, the graph and the  movement of altcoin you are going to invest. Get more experience and don't be afraid to lose at your fist step in crypto.

I think newbies are safer going with coins that have a lot of support and development. Bitcoin and ETH are pretty much all a newbie should do until they actually know what its all about.

Getting into any other altcoin is a total crapshoot for someone who knows nothing.

That is the reason, why it is very important to choose a teacher who can guide us to get the first advantage of trading on the crypto market. When you get a good initial example, I think you can continue by learning to make your own trading experience.
