Picking the top altcoins doesn't guarantee your safety. Because it's the market we are talking about here. You have probably the same risk and gain you have when you pick a coin at the end of the spectrum. But with those known coins the benefit is for a newbie that's the first coin they will invest on and trust. But don't be fooled that you will earn money right away just by investing it on that coin.
I accept this fact, top altcoins are more reliable and I can actually risk holding top altcoins for many years to come, many altcoins have short time because the devs have other plans like exit scam etc, all you have to do to limit your loss is going 80% on top altcoins and 20 or even 10% on new altcoins
Agreed. The main problem is, Most of times newbies select shitcoins without having any idea, that's because they want have profit fast. That's the reason behind they experienced loss.

especially for me and those who are new to the crypto industry. I see there are many ICO projects using the name COVID. but I'm personally not at all interested in such projects.
It's better for the newbie to learn about crypto Market before there investing because there has many reasons for face lossing money. My one friend recently buy Hybrix token in biki exchange with price 3$ up but it's so bad drop out under 1$.
Thats why im buying only top alts they have good ideas, team and future. I bought recently some ada on bitfinex and it alrady growthed to 10%

But if they want to Trade?then they should use as materials in trading those fast moving currencies in market.
They might be Cheap and Low ranking but they can Give good movement if some Big traders bet on those coins and let them pump for just an hour,we have seen some coins or tokens like this that made more than x100 in their price for a short period of time and back to cheap again .
Blind invest is very common in crypto world, can't deny that I was a victim myself, 2017 crypto new got me good I guess, it's same mentality that many newbies still got in them today, they throw away research and decide to take unnecessary risks, the safest place to be is with Bitcoin

Yeah this is like the stock market so new guys should stick to the blue chips and avoid gambling with penny stocks, if they do not understand their business model. The same goes for crypto until you have learned the basics
I also agree with this statement. however, most beginners don't know about popular crypto, so sometimes they try to invest in unknown altcoin, and they like it. many people are disappointed because one chose altcoin whose price was dumped after that.

yeah, i know that.both large profits and small benefits come from our courage to accept risk. if we dare to take big risks, the benefits we can also be large or vice versa.
i don't recommend investing in a new project, but if the project is very interesting and quite useful. i think, it won't be a problem if we invest a little money there.
This is indeed the rule of thumb for every newbie who wants to engage the idea of investing in crypto assets. Never dabble into the unknown coins or less known coins as these have a great way of ruining your investments. Always go for tokens or assets that are well known and seemingly stable in price movements or fluctuations. You have a great chance of having your investment percentages returned over a course of time but with unknown or less known assets, they could be pump and dumps that may actually take forever to recover thereby causing losses.
