Where would you guys recommend getting started with small (<0.5mW) mining if you guys had your choice of locations (but had to live with local electricity suppliers)?  I have a a small amount ($100k) to invest in a location and rigs and want to get an idea of what your dream place would be...

So well all know I did pretty good with Doge.  Should have been better but still very well.

I have found a coin that may do nicely.

XEC

https://support.viabtc.com/hc/en-us/articles/900004339303

I mine it at viabtc.com

I use 1 rig of my sha256 gear an s15 set to low.

It does 21th about 134,000 coins a day

I started when coins were.

0.000022 usd

coins are now

0.000046 usd

I am up to 2.9 million coins.

If you have a lot of sha 256 gear and point 1 unit to this the upside is huge.

134,000 x 365 = 48,910,000 coins mined in a year with 21th. yeah diff will go up.

So say it mines 25,000,000 coins  if price moves to 0.00046

25,000,000 coins are 11,500 usd

a 21th machine mining btc would mine .067 btc with no diff change or maybe 0.04 btc in a year at 100k btc that is 4000

So we have 21th of 1100th mining XEC

it is ladder sale set at

0.000091
0.000910
0.009100
0.091000
0.191000
0.291000
0.491000
0.891000
1.189100

we have 2,918,985  coins at 0.000046

I will post back on this play in a month.

Plan is to mine it for 1 year.

It mines at a profit daily.

even with 15 cent power.

as 24 kwatts on low is 3.60 and 21 x .34 = 7.14

that is a $3.50 profit with 15 cent power.

So mine it sell 5 usd worth a day

you bank 1.40 usd cash and stack a lot of the coin.

It is literally no risk

If my power bill was $3.60 for it and I mined 135000 coins.

Sell 100,000 for $4.60 pocket 1 dollar and stack 10,000 coins

It is a no brainer to try it for 10 days.

you make  10 bucks  profit

you stack 100,000 coins list them for

0.0046 x   50,000 =   230 dollars
0.0460 x   50,000 = 2300 dollars

the worst you do is make 10 bucks.

which is pretty fucking good.

I am pushing 3.7 million coins.

They went from

0.000022 to 0.000052

I wAnt 10 million of them.

Very good 2tb ssd deal at newegg

so this ssd is 181-27 = 154

https://www.newegg.com/team-group-2tb-ex2/p/N82E16820331608?Item=N82E16820331608

I used this code

Enter promo code EMCEYSU47 at Checkout.

and I paid with PayPal using my discover card which is doing 5% off on PayPal

so
181
- 27
154
+10 tax
164
  -8 discover
156 usd for a 2tb ssd

pretty cheap price well rated ssd

Yeah I saw that video of the Bulldozer going around and squishing a bunch of ASICs. I think the used the bulldozer and filmed it more for a publicity stunt to get people to listen I guess. Because its seems like overkill just to destroy some ASICs. And its also going to be a pain later to clean all that stuff up. An easier way would be to just dip the ASICs to some salt water and that'll be pretty much rendered useless. Won't be worth the effort to replace the corroded parts.

Strange why its in Latin America and I wonder if all of this boils down to that initial Musk tweet about BTC mining being bad for the environment. Because ever since then we see nothing but mining crackdowns such as this. I wonder if he never mentioned anything about pollution if any of this would be happening.

I think it's from Malaysia
Here: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/malaysian-police-steamrolled-bitcoin-mining-equipment

1,069 Asics destroyed
Less hashrate on network, and a terrible loss for the owners, probably more than 1 million USD

May be old and from South America

frankly as long as you mine in any other country but china it is a boost for you.

My btc earnings are 2x
My ltc/doge earnings are 1.5x
My eth earnngs are 1.3x

actual coins not usd value.

Since my exit from mining will be say 2027 when I reach 70 I am not very concerned about this.  I am stacking coin as much as I can.

I had USB sticks go out so many times that I basically stopped using them. Just used some old 120Gb HDD (not SSD). It became vert annoying having to duplicate the stick and then have to manually configure everything. When i switched to old fashion disk drives I’ve never had this issue. Sure it uses maybe an extra 10 watts but worth it not to deal with failures in the future.

I think the reason why mine failed was maybe due to the heat or maybe to the poor cheap USB brand. Another reason I heard could be the write cycles however I don’t think a mining rig did much writing, mostly stood on idle. So no idea why they kept failing. Most of the time you could just reformat and reinstall and they would work again for a few more weeks/months.

mine are 80gb, bought second hand in 2013-14.

reformat and reinstall will kill a lot of time, i got an army of clones hehe

I just had an old USB stick go out on me on one of my miners. Good thing they're cheap enough to have spares laying around.

Phil, it's the same as before.  Our internet went out for a couple hours, and when it came back online, I started getting those same errors I was getting before when you helped me.  I spent some time trying different combinations of those numbers we were messing with, and just couldn't get it to work.  I was literally hours away from moving out of my house and into my fireworks stand so I just let it be.  I'll start working on it again this evening probably.  I wonder if the the boards or if the MB are nearing the end of their life?  I'm also dealing with comcast to try and get a new modem.  We're pretty sure it's becoming unstable.  In other news, they're running fiber in our neighborhood right this minute, so I'm anxious to find out when that will be available for me.

Good morning all,

I'm rejoining the land of crypto after about a 2 week hiatus.  Our family sells fireworks for the 4th of July every year, so the past 2 weeks I've been living in a van down by the river!  Just kidding, in an RV in a parking lot selling fireworks :-)  I haven't had much bandwidth for the forums during that time.  I've been playing catch up on my favorite topics.  It's crazy how going offline for a couple weeks can push you behind in the crypto news so hard!  My rig went offline right before the break, and so I've lost a couple weeks worth of revenue.  Gotta start troubleshooting it tonight.  But my PC has been stamping out RVN pretty solidly during that time.

Seems like the landscape for gear is starting to change slightly.  I'm anxious to get back into not getting picked in the Newegg shuffle again.  I've missed all those rejection emails LOL.

Hope you all are well.  Will be caught up hopefully by end of day.

Let me know what's up with it.

Whats the consensus on mining with the RTX 3060?  I have one from EVGA, new in the box, that has been collecting dust for the last couple of weeks.  Trying to decide whether I should sell it or mine with it.  From what I gather I can use lolminer with a specific driver version, just wondering if its worth the hassle.

you have to remember to boot it every dag change
I have a 2 card rig ut does 74 mh and drops to 51 each new dag reboot it goes to 74 again
