Late reply to the thread 8 question about Zotac - I'm starting to have fans fail on the few Zotac mini cards I own.
I can NOT recommend most of their cards (or the NEW model EVGA stuff) due to their use of "fancy name" sleeve bearing fans and the resulting FAST FAILURES on those fans.

I'm more than a little ticked off at EVGA lately, as they're moving across the board away from their long-time use of GOOD ball bearing fans to JUNK - first it was the bloody G3 power supplies, now their graphic cards....

i got zotac 1080ti amp extreme..

i was successful at pulling of a fan which is not spinning (real time-while still mining), cleaned the sleeve brass like material and anything that has dark like material (oily--oil with very fine dust--looks like grease) with alcohol..apply a drop or two of oil, snap the fan back in and voila --spins like new hehe

i was thinking, it might not be some fine dust, it can be metal, just like how motor oil turn from clear to asphalt like inside car engines.

BTW i've seen fans that didn't spin for a month or two (gpu was still cool enough and i got lazy), it was fixed..the longest i've seen not spinning was the one fan on my zotac 1080 amp extreme, it was months (i didn't count) and i just left it not spinning, when i tried cleaning and oiling it was fixed.

fan speeds are 70-75

power limit ~75

Not good.
I've still got my set of 1080 Superclocked and they don't make a single noise after two years of 24/7 use. They do tend to pick up dust though.
Pretty much the same story with the 14 ASUS RX 570 I just sold... apart from the fact they've got dust-repellent fans which are absolutely awesome. Much underrated feature if you ask me. The cards looked absolutely mint after 36 months of mining in the eaves of the house...

what fan speeds did you set to?  90%? 95% 100%

or  65% 70% 75%

or custom  automatic

I have found the  65%-75%  manual setting range lasts longer.

Hi folks.

Like many miners I stoped my rigs last summer more because it was too hot than because of the crypto winter (and because a new job took my brains out), but with the depressed mining return, It was pointless to turn them on again... Until this march because I needed some heat in my garage.

And now my wife needs some heat in the basement for faster drying clothes :-)

Then, this WE out of boredom I ordered my first ASIC, a cheap S9 to play around.

Who knows, with the prices on the rise It could be a winner move.

I plan to test Braiins OS. Is it easy to handle or is there a steep learning curve to get good efficiency?

try   8.2 volts for each board along with freq 500

see what you get.

I could get 10000 gh and 815 watts which was pretty good.

Somewhere I have a post with the settings

something's brewing....I hope all of your alts hodl positions pay off  Wink

Yeah  I hope  one of the alts takes off.

Doge is so low  0.00000039 btc  a jump to 0.00000391 btc would be easy to do.

the problem is people's inherent fear that BTC's rise will be more than the alt;  and the rise in the value of BTC will cause a selloff and balance in the alt.

its not as often that the alt's value stays pegged to BTC;   LTC doesn't seem to be even following that tendency as much anymore.

I still own one bag of some [right now] useless coins because there is no active exchange wallet;  but supposedly that will be different in the future;  Ill have to wait and see =/  At least it was nothing ventured out of pocket;  it was all from sig campaign proceeds.

doge is merged mining with my ltc.

I just holding them

along with bci
and raven
and ltc

I also mine grin and convert it to ltc then hodl as ltc.

Are you feeling optmistic about ltc, with the halving and the future in general?
It feels like ltc is not so relevant anymore...

Ltc is on the rise . I think it could go to 200ish by dec of 2019

Actually, originally, MTP required you to have a bloody Silicon Graphics mainframe to be able to mine it in the early days... But since some decent devs got onto that, it was soon minable again by the mere mortals...

Any of you guys been following this thread? Also really cool to see the 9th edition of this thread hit, especially along w/ some VERY overdue positive price movement.

An interesting argument is made for the 2060
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5135665.new#new
I certainly have.
The 2060's have the shortest time to break even on your investment (commonly - erroneously - known as ROI around here)... at least when looking at new GPUs. Some might argue the 6GB of ram could be limiting... but so far I haven't seen many algos where that would be the case. C31 being one, but it's basically asic fodder so not interesting anymore anyway.
haha I know you definitely have, and yes I think you make a great point. A lot of people, myself included want to think you "need" 8gb moving forward, but atm 6gb is more than sufficient ... as always time will tell I guess Huh

LTC is pretty relevant especially in the speculations sector and so are most of the Bitmex alts that are trading on there.

LTC is also listed on most exchanges so its very easy for most retail people to buy as compared to something such as XRP which isn't listed in all exchanges.

I think when the FOMO rally hits the mainstream media, people will be buying alts like LTC like crazy because they want 1000% gains instead of 20-25% which is max they can get out of BTC.

It will be a repeat of 2017 pretty much.

i totally forgot that doge is merge mined with LTC...   I personally never mined either of the two;  I only pointed my gridseeds at xpool/zpool back in the day and haven't run an asic since those days.

Ive been tossing around the idea of putting one of the lower power bitmain devices on to trickle some extra coin in....  we will see...   But at some point for sure Ill be buying a sha256 machine and just add to the network to support it;  not expecting any real returns from it.

I also posted up my onda rig to the marketplace section...  I think ill stick with the current setup of small satellite machines in many places.   Seems to work the best; and the only major downfall is travel could be far if it needs to be worked with in person...   I have plenty of spare PC's collecting dust ready to go... so might as well let someone else put it to good use.

Looks like we are back to Aug 2018 mining profitability levels according to

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/ethereum-mining_profitability.html

A few hours ago ETH broke-out and took a new high at $288, last time it was this price was back in September 2018 where it had a huge dump which was followed by a long bear trend.

Looks like finally the people with power > 10kwh will be able to turn on their rigs again. Onlything missing now is ProgPOW algo.
