That is a dream I guess, I have not head anything now. There were some news about adding cricket in Olympics last year. If it happens it will be in next Olympic. ICC and other powerful board must support this cause. If it gets added then many countries will start adopting cricket.

There was a chance to apply for Olympic inclusion, but the ICC refused to do that for the 2028 Olympics. The next opportunity would come at 2032. It is very unfortunate. Actually it was Jagmohan Dalmiya who first attempted to get cricket included in the Olympic Games. He was aiming for the 2012 Olympics, but before he could achieve his objective he was thrown out as the ICC president. After that for almost 15 years the ICC and BCCI was under the control of the mafia. Two precious decades have been lost and in terms of popularity cricket has lost out to smaller sports such as hockey and rugby in the meantime.

It has been claimed many times that cricket should be included in the Olympics. But it is not being done. Many peoples believe that the inclusion of the Cricket in Olympics, some cricket boards like India and England will lose their influence over the ICC. So the big boards don't want cricket to be included in the Olympics.

The biggest obstacle used to be BCCI. But now they have received assurance from the government that BCCI would not come under the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), even if the sport is included in the Olympics. Another issue was that previously BCCI was controlled by the Srinivasan- Sharad Pawar gang. They were opposed to the inclusion, because the monetary returns for ICC/BCCI was low. But the current leadership under Ganguly has taken a much more favorable view regarding this subject. Even if cricket is included in the Olympics, it will not make much difference for the test nations. But for associate nations such as Netherlands, China and Japan, that means millions of USD worth of funding from the government.
If cricket is included in the Olympics, cricket will get world class respect. There are many people in America and China who do not know the game of cricket properly. Cricket is limited to a few countries. Adding cricket to the Olympics will give almost everyone in the world a chance to learn about cricket, and they will become interested in cricket. Which is good for the future of cricket. Hopefully the ICC will take the necessary steps in this regard.

With the subscription will we be able to view all the matches and is it available globally?.

First you need to check the availability of FanCode. Why don't you install the app and check which matches are available in your country? The App itself is free and some of the matches can be watched without a payment. But you need a paid subscription (around $5.50 per year in India), if you want to watch most of the matches live in HD. Initially I went with the free option, but later decided to subscribe. Because they always have a lot of options available for watching live cricket. For example, this week they are covering the Spice Isle T10 (Grenada), ECS Germany T10 and the Netherlands tour of Ireland.

If cricket becomes an Olympic sport, then definitely sports-crazy countries such as China, Japan, South Korea and the US are going to take note. Because for them, an Olympic medal is priceless.
That is the expectation that more countries will emphasis on cricket if it is an Olympic sport but the problems i am hearing for a long time is that the ICC was not interested in including cricket in the Olympics because they do not have any incentives.

BTW, anyone watched the Netherlands vs Ireland ODI today? It was a cracker of a match and in the end Netherlands won by 1 run. I paid ₹399 for annual subscription of FanCode, to watch this match.  Grin
Glad that i did not place a bet on this match because i would have placed my bet on Ireland to win because they have some solid players who will perform once in a while but i have not heard about Netherlands playing outstanding cricket in recent memory.

Agreed. Olympic sports are always held in high regard by everyone. Take the case of football. Actually they don't need the Olympics to popularize the sport. Because football is being played in every nook and corner of the globe. But still, FIFA has made sure that football remains as an Olympic sport. They always look for the long term benefit. ^^^ This is a good move. But I want them to try for the Olympics as well. If they really want to make cricket a truly global sport, then inclusion in the Olympics is the only option. Else cricket will remain restricted to the Commonwealth and among the expat community. Also, the eligibility rules must be made similar to that in other sports. It is really strange to see teams such as the UAE and Qatar fielding playing XIs which comprised entirely of citizens form India and Pakistan. How can foreign citizens represent another country?

It looks like BCCI and its money power, if not how can jokes like these happen. All the sports organisation are there to make money and that attracts people from different sectors and may be that is what we are seeing here.

I would disagree with the second part. FIFA or ITF would never agree to your statement that the primary purpose is to make money. They would claim that their primary purpose is to popularize the sport and take care of the players and fans (obviously, using the money generated from various events). In fact FIFA recently made a bold move, to increase the number of teams playing in the world cup from 32 to 48. The intention is to give more representation to Africa and Asia. Such a step would be unthinkable with cricket. Here we have reduced the number of teams in world cup, from 16 in 2007 edition to 10 in the 2019 edition.

If you look at the governing bodies for other sports, you can see that most of them are being administered by former players (FIFA, FIBA, FIH.etc). However, the case with ICC is different. Out of the 16 presidents and 4 chairmen till date, almost all of them have been businessmen with no link to cricket.
If these sports bodies are looking for improving the game then they should give opportunities for former players who are capable enough and i am certain you can find more than a dozen capable candidates from former players and putting them to improve the sports will go a long way.

The biggest joke was when Sharad Pawar (an Indian politician) became the president of the ICC. Nowadays cricket has become a very rich sport with annual turnover of billions of USD. And unfortunately, this has become a curse as well.

It would have boosted them as these were good players during their time and educated enough to hold the positions who really understands cricket and knows how to improve the game unlike some who have no business getting to those positions of power and do nothing.

Sri Lankan board is the biggest obstacle for growth of cricket in that country. When Kumar Sangakkara was planning to contest for the post of ICC chairman, the SLCB came up with some baseless charges of match fixing against him, forcing Sangakkara to cancel his candidature.
Why would the Sri Lankan cricket board come up with these baseless accusation, i did not understand this point, someone who is in power in Sri Lanka looking for same job position. If these targeted accusation is the reason for him to cancel his candidature then i feel pity about the whole situation.

It was a big loss not only for the Sri Lankan cricket community, but also for the global cricket fans. Sangakkara as the ICC chairman and Ganguly as the BCCI president would have done wonders. But what to say? Now we have the businessman Greg Barclay as the ICC chairman and he is interested only in money.

Srilankan ceicket board is responsible for building infrastructure but I guess they are also becoming like SA cricket board. Nothing can be done if the board itself is divided and does not know what to do? They are the only cricketing nation that are still debating about the 2011 world cup loss.

~ Players like Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Malinga could not find a replacement in Sri Lanka after the retirement. And so the Sri Lankan team is in such a state now.
They were legend category players in cricket and it's not easy for a team to get the replacement of any legendary player. Current Sri Lankan team is not perfect to compete with other teams but their players aren't in worst condition. They need more better guidelines and training so that they can improve their skills. You forgot to mention another great player of Sri Lankan team, ‘Tillakaratne Dilshan’.
When new players do not get the right guidelines, no player can perform well on a regular basis. For a new player to perform well, a skilled coach is definitely needed. But I doubt Sri Lankan players are getting the right guidelines now! Sri Lankan players are talented, Sri Lanka will be a good team if there is continuity of performance of their players.

Sri Lanka is perhaps the only test playing nation where the cricketing structure remains limited to Colombo and one or two nearby cities. There is hardly any infrastructure in the provinces to the North and East. Even Afghanistan has managed to spread cricket to all the provinces within their country, but being a test nation for so long, Sri Lanka has failed in that regard. The situation in Bangladesh is similar, but they recently started a domestic competition which includes teams from the provinces.

What sort of strength you are talking about? They lost the first two matches by a big margin and the third match was irrelevant as Bangladesh already had won the series. In the long term, the future of Sri Lankan cricket doesn't look safe. Anyway, now they have their first points in the ODI Super League. They are at the 12th position, with one win and 8 points from a total of 6 matches. On the 13th spot we have the Netherlands, who are yet to play any matches.
The Sri Lankan captain played a good innings and was leading from the front and even though their middle order was a failure they were able to restrict Bangladesh and in the first two games the Sri Lankan batsman failed to score runs and their bowlers were able to restrict them but their batting failed miserably. They need to find young talents and fill the void in the middle order to be a competitive team.
