Is anyone watching the ODI series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe? I just found out that Pakistan has lost 2 wickets for 92 runs, they are batting first. Abid Ali and Babar Azam are both out. Pakistan will win this match as Zimbabwe won't be able to stay long on the wicket because of their weak batting line up.

Very average performance from Pakistan, and they are at 261/7 after 48 overs. BTW, can anyone tell me why Fakhar Zaman is not in the playing XI? Is he injured? The Pakistani top order was disappointing and only Haris Sohail and Imam-ul-Haq got half-centuries. Let's see how their bowlers are going to perform. They should aim for a big win, by bowling out Zimbabwe for less than 150.

Pakistan made 281 runs in their 50 overs which is quite a reasonable score in ODI. I don't understand why you call it an average performance ?
Zimbabwe have lost 4 wickets and the overs are running out of their hand. I am sure Pakistan will easily win this match by big margin of at least 80-100 runs.

I want a fair playing field for everyone rather than giving any favors and the world is all about competition and there is no doubt you need to help the talents that are underprivileged because of financial surroundings, other than that it is silly to give any special favors in any field let alone educations and in a highly competitive job market, everything should equate to skills rather than the color of your skin or religion and once you deviate from that you are not getting the best in any field.

According to ESPN-Cricinfo, since the end of apartheid more than 50 South African players (including non-white players) have moved to other countries, due to the quota system in cricket. I think the condition is the same in other sports as well (rugby, football.etc). I don't have a problem as such with their policy. But I have a problem when the ICC suspends smaller boards giving the silliest of the excuses, and at the same time it ignores what is happing in powerful countries such as South Africa. Laws should be same for everyone.

@Vishnu.Reang the answer to your question is a simple one, smaller teams don’t earn big revenue for ICC, but SA earns big revenue for ICC so why will iCC suspend them?.

Also ask yourself which match would you pay and watch in the stadium: South Africa vs Australia or Australia vs Afghanistan?, and most if not all will choose the former, and that’s why ICC will never suspend them, because for ICC revenue is the most important thing.

I agree with this statement because at the end of the day its always going to be about the money and that is why we never seen the big teams play the lower ranked teams. I can't even remember the last time Australia played a lower ranked team like Afghanistan and even Zimbabwe and even when we do see this the series is very short like 2 - 3 games only. That's why now we see Australia play India a lot more then back in the 90's early 2000's where they normally played every 4 years or so but now we are seeing these two teams playing a lot more within 2 years for ODI and test matches because it brings in the big money.
IMO ICC could address this problem " Revenue + Exposure to lower ranking team" by encouraging cricket boards to organize more Trilateral -Quadrilateral series for limited over cricket (T-20 +ODI). It sounds much more interesting in comparison of bilateral series and it solves revenue crisis for everyone.

I am afraid For test match ICC can't do much because its all comes down to competitiveness. The best they can do is introduce Group system in Red ball but everyone loves status quo so i am not expecting anything for next decade or so.

Pakistan & Zimbabwe ODI series will start today in Rawalpindi Cricket stadium. Babar Azam will be the captain of the home side for the very first time and i hope this change will bring good results for the team.
Just a reminder that Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan will consists of 3 one day internationals and 3 T-20 matches.

You can have quota system in education and jobs. But it is really ridiculous to have this system for the sports teams. As far as South Africa is concerned, ANC is in power for the last 26 years. Now it is the non-African groups which are getting discriminated here (Asians, Colored, Whites, San.etc). And also, ethnic Africans have historically shown less interest in cricket compared to the other groups. For them, the favorite sports are football and rugby. And there is no evidence to indicate that any sort of racial bias exists in South African sports.

If the people of Sri-Lanka love cricket, then their tournament will be a success. Look at Bangladesh, they are not a large country like India or Australia. But their Premier League is very lavish and glorious. Because their people love cricket. So, they do not lack sponsors. After many years, Sri Lanka Premier League is going to be held. I pray they will succeed this time.

You can't really compare Bangladesh with Sri Lanka. The population of Bangladesh is around 8 times that of Sri Lanka. On top of that, there are large and affluent Bangladeshi diaspora communities in Western nations. And despite all this, the BPL has struggled to stay profitable. Another issue with Sri Lanka is that there is hardly any cricket infrastructure outside the top 3-4 cities.

The ICC should ban South Africa, not for government interference, but for the racial quotas in cricket teams. South Africa was banned for almost 3 decades during the apartheid era. What happening now is not much different. A majority of the players in the national team, as well as the first class teams are based on the basis of race (6 out of 11). This racial quota has transformed the South African team to a laughing stock.
I am against the quota system but to ban the entire team and taking away the livelihood of the players it is a hard thing, we are living in 2020 and things are not good as every country is facing some or the other issue and these quotas are created to appease the general public by the political system and it will destroy the entire infrastructure and destroy the game.

@JSRAW I’m surprised that South Africa has been able to arrange this series, as I felt that they would be sanctioned by ICC due to their government being involved in their internal matters, but it seems that for now they’re escaping the sanction. Furthermore I have always enjoyed the series between these two sides, and I feel that both the teams are equally balanced, hence it’ll be an very interesting series to watch.

Limited overs cricket only, no test series atm. South Africa trying to lure Srilanka tho.

White ball cricketers from the both teams getting fair amount of practice here so yeah we could expect cracking series.

This drama still going on - Board member already resigned- but they are also kick starting their home season with this England series. After that

2 test match series with Sri Lanka (Dec-Jan)
3 Test match series with Australia (Feb-March)

Followed by Pakistan tour of South Africa, not much details atm.

Sri Lankan cricketers have been out of action for so long, with only Isuru Udana having match experience from the IPL. However, they have the Lankan Premier League 2020 scheduled to start from next month. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the schedule, but I hope it will go ahead as planned. The last time they did something similar was in 2012 (Sri Lanka Premier League). But it was a disaster.

I am very curious about the Sri Lankan Premier League. Hopefully this time they will be able to arrange everything very well. Hope we can see a great and exciting game like IPL. I'm ready to bet on the SPL's matches.

This time they have named it as the "Lankan Premier League (LPL)". Back in 2012, the name was Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL). I don't understand the obsession with the franchise T20 leagues. If your domestic market is pretty large (such as the case in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, England.etc), then you can be assured that the tournament will be a success. But I really doubt whether smaller nations such as Sri Lanka can get enough revenues and sponsorships to make sure that it will not end up as a loss making venture.

This is going to be a very competitive series, with the South African players in such great form during this edition of the IPL. It will be exciting to watch players such as Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis playing against Bairstow and Sam Curran. I am not sure about the test-series though. I am afraid that it is going to be one-sided.

-SA hosting England for White ball cricket, just waiting for Gov's permission (Nov-Dec)
Proteas's Gov gave a green light and England tour of South Africa is good to go for 3 ODI and 3 T-20.

CSA making some efforts to bring back cricket season asap. They are in talk with the SriLankan board for Red ball cricket around Dec-Jan.
