Ireland managed to play their 50 overs and did well to cross 200 runs and were better than the 1st match. England managed to get it quickly in 32.3 overs the target of 213, but in this process lost 6 wickets. But finally they are leading the series by 2-0. Let us see what happens in the final ODI match.

At one point, England was struggling at 141/6 and still required another 70 plus runs with just 4 wickets in hand. But the Irish bowlers failed to pick quick wickets, and as a result they lost the match. This was a golden opportunity for Ireland to grab media headlines, but they wasted it. It was the lower order batsman David Willey who propelled England to victory.

England actually struggled a bit with such a small target against a team like Ireland. If Ireland posted a total of 300 or something, they probably could have won this one. Willey continues to be their kryptonite with both bat and ball.

If they could have dismissed Willey quickly, this match could have gone down to the wire. England need to improve their game especially if they wish to compete against stronger teams in the future.

Although England did win last night, but I would not call it a convicing win. Losing 6 wickets to chase a small target againist  Ireland is not a good performance by any means. If Ireland had score 30-40 runs more and Ireland could take one more wickets, the match results could have changed. England need to be more careful in the 3rd match because a similar performance can cause them the match.

Winning does not need convincing, a win is a win. The records will only say England defeated Ireland it will never say it was not a convincing win. Ireland will lose this series if they bat like this throughout the series. I do not expect miracles from the Irish team but they should understand that it is a 50 over match and they need to stick to the wicket for longer duration.
I doubt Ireland is having better practices for cricket games like how top international team doing that is why they are hard to adapt to the new format of 50 overs which was evolved a lot in this 21st century.I will say they bowled really well but could reach the line so they need to take out the positive and proceed for the upcoming match.

Small teams like ireland will not get much games against the big teams like England. They should be happy that they are having a series with england when the sporting events are limited around the globe because of the pandemic. This is their chance to get a lot experience and practice.

The Win is a win but teams need to analyze their performance after every match. If they do not do so, they won't be able to preform better against big teams. World class teams needs to win with big margin against the new small teams. Their target should not be to win only, but to win with conviction.

It was nice to watch the smashing shots during the opening of England. Anyhow Ireland could've got an experience playing against England. Ireland team has potential players, but something is missing. In today's match atleast they should've crossed 250. Maybe we can expect a close match or a win from Ireland in the coming match scheduled within few days.

Ireland doesn't have any future in international cricket. Whenever they produce some international quality cricketer, he will be poached by England. Examples are Eoin Morgan, Boyd Rankin and Ed Joyce. Even emerging players such as Stuart Poynter have been barred from playing for Ireland by their county sides.

Eoin Morgan for example, was born in Dublin (capital of the Republic of Ireland) and played for the Irish national team till 2009. In 2009, he was included in the England squad, despite being an Irish citizen. Similarly, Boyd Rankin was the best bowler Ireland ever produced. He was playing for the countryside Warwickshire and the county coach asked him to stop playing for Ireland. He returned to Ireland in 2016, but by then his pace and venom was gone. The same happened to Ed Joyce as well.

What is the point in having an Irish cricket team, when they are always forced to play with their second-string players?

Ireland facing some serious trouble in batting as their top order not performing as they need to do so they are unable to post some good target for England team and they have nothing to challenge them today bowlers give them some good fightback but Willey and Billings both still able to fight back and win series for home team but they was not as World Champions.
England is also experimenting with the players and some of the England players in the playing eleven are not in the best form as they lost wickets in quick succession and if it was a top team then  they would have lost the match and if Ireland batsman could regroup and put a good partnership and score anything above 260 to 280 runs then the bowlers could challenge the England batsman.

I think Ireland got the batting order mixed up. In both the last match and the current match, the lower order batsmen are performing much better than the upper order batsmen. Campher is actually playing a gem of an innings here.

Rashid and Willey did well, but I still cannot believe the fact that Ireland survived the full 50 overs. England will probably chase this down in 45 overs.
The top order is play like they forgot the art of batting while the tail end is playing some useful innings just to take the team score above 150 runs in both the matches and the terrible form of Jason Roy is continuing and glad to see Jonny Bairstow playing his shots like he used to and giving the viewers at home an entertaining evening and i wish he could reach his century.
England batting order got collapsed and that a very good comeback from Ireland after scoring a low total, only Bairstow managed to score 82 while the team score only 137 and lost 6 wickets. They have plenty of overs remaining to score the needed 76 runs but I think they will return to their dressing room before completing it.

Jonny Bairstow crossed his 3000 career runs in ODI one of the fastest in England cricket and then he perished by giving a faint edge to the keeper for 82 runs. I did not expect any surprises in the series and had some pretty easy bets to place but i missed the series as i was not able to place a bet on time because of the transaction delays. Waiting for the final ODI and the Pakistan series.

The top order again failed to bat well but the team middle order and lower order batted well and managed to score 212. You can't win matches if your top order batsmen fail consistently. England will easily chase this target even with JJ Roy out on a duck in the first over of England innings.

Ireland batting first again seems to be close to their previous score only. Though the good point is that they will end up batting either full 50 overs or close to that. Curtis is playing on 42 . They should be targeting crossing 200 runs atleast and try to pick few wickets of England team rather than losing this game one sided.
What ever score Ireland is going to make from this point will not be competitive and the odds are lopsided from the start when they lost a couple of wickets and i do not understand why the Ireland captain is fixated on deciding to bat first when their batsman are struggling to make any impact or may be because they are worried that England will post a huge total and humiliate their bowlers  Grin.

The last two partnership for the 7th wicket went impressive and the 8th wicket partnership is also above 50 at the moment. These two partnership now placed the Irish team to a competitive target. With two overs left, they'd probably give a target of 225+ and if these bowlers performed as well as they bat today, the game could turn to any sides.

More or less same scorecard, it seems they didn't learn anything from the last game except not going full Duck_mode. Let's hope Curtis steps up again along with the Tucker and reach close to 150ish.

Campher played well and remain not out at 59. McBrine gave him good support but none of the other batsmen can show any considerable performance.
Ireland need to improve a lot if they want to come at par with england.
Also DJ Willey bowled suberb today and took 5 wickets in the match.
Do any of you actually watch these one sided matches from start to finish? These matches are basically training matches for young English players. The only thing that surprised me was Ireland posting a target greater than 150 after their pathetic top order batting performance.

This is the first time that I heard of DJ Willey and he basically bowled out batsmen like a DJ which is why I probably will remember his name going forward.

I did not watch the match in full but did tune in time to time to see the action. However since today is weekend, i will watch the match in full if is interesting. No one wants to waste time to watch a one sided match.
