No wonder they have some good players in the T20 format and they are able to beat some teams in the past and i hope the T20 would be more competitive than the ODI but West Indies also have a good team, waiting for their T20 series.
T20 starts tomorrow and West Indies have a set back as one of the players Pooran is banned for four T20Is for ball tampering in the last match. Afghanistan has much better team for T20 and i expect it to be more competitive than the ODI, Steve Smith and Warned was banned for ball tampering for a year if i am not mistaken and why such a lenient suspension for Pooran ?.

Thank you for all the response, i was not aware of their cricketing structure as i know nothing about them as a country other than the negative news i hear about in the news.

Nowadays cricket clubs mostly prefer the shorter version of the game, due to lack of time. However, Afghanistan do have a 4-day domestic tournament in which all the five regions take part. The domestic cricket is rapidly expanding there, thanks to the increased funding from the ICC (as per the latest revenue model, ACB will receive $5 million per year during 2017-23).

If they are having 300 cricket clubs is it hard to find some good batsman among these players, they lack a good batsman in the team to perform consistently and i think all these clubs prefer T20 and hence they are good at the shorter format.

since the tournaments are conducted in India i know it is still not safe in Afghanistan and hence asking these.
Afghanistan has stadiums but they are playing these international matches outside their home country because of security reasons, i was not aware if their cricket structure unless i see response from Vishnu.Reang.

The domestic cricket structure in Afghanistan is quite strong. At the bottom tier, there are more than 300 cricket clubs, spread out all over the country. Apart from a few provinces, all the others take part in the Inter-Provincial Tournament. And similar to Duleep Trophy of India, they have an inter-regional tournament, in which five regions take part.

The doubt i have is whether Afghanistan have a domestic structure to recruit young talents all i know about Afghanistan was because of terrorism and a torn country for more than a decade and when they came up with a cricket team i was surprised about how they were able to come up with some real world class talents, since the tournaments are conducted in India i know it is still not safe in Afghanistan and hence asking these.

It is the top order that is failing again and again. The middle order (especially Mohammad Nabi and Asghar Stanikzai) is doing quite good. Ever since Shahzad was thrown out of the team, the top order has been in a state of flux. They have been persisting with Zazai, Shah and Ahmadi for quite sometime, but these players haven't delivered yet.
Mohammad Shahzad is their best player and his absence is felt throughout the tournament and they do not have a big pool of players to select and if Afghanistan needs to play some competitive cricket they need to develop young talents and they need to sort out the issue with Mohammad Shahzad as he is the top run maker in T20 and ODI and their best opener to date, he is talented but lacks fitness and he is the bad boy in the team.

Shahzad was one of their best players, but not their best. I would rate both Mohammad Nabi and Asghar Afghan better than Shahzad. The advantage with Shahzad was that he used to smash the bowlers all around the park and was capable of giving an initial advantage. His replacement, Hazratullah Zazai has performed well in T20 franchise cricket, but he was unable to repeat the same in international cricket.

Afghanistan is a very populous country, and they have a big player pool. Right now they are sticking with a select few players for the top-order and this need to change. There are some young players emerging from the domestic leagues and it won't be a bad idea to give them an opportunity to play for the national team. And regarding Shahzad, I don't think that he'll ever play international cricket again.

If the team is able to put a good total then Afghanistan has the spinners to win a match, we are playing in T20 era where these six run per over is not a big task now and if the Afghanistan batsman is not putting runs on the board then it will be difficult to defend these small totals even with world class bowlers as the opposition batsman knows to play smartly without taking much risk, so if Afghanistan has to challenge any team they need to find good batsman who could play good innings.

Afghanistan is not performing well these days. I guess the opposition batsmen have got used to their spinners (Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman) and their batting (at least the top order) is still not showing any signs of improvement. Players such as Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmat Shah, Ikram Alikhil and Javed Ahmadi were given enough chances, but still they can't repay the faith that the selectors had on them.

I thought that Afghanistan going win the match against west indies today because West Indies are loss the 2 wickets for 4 runs within 3overs but after that Shai hope take the match from Afghanistan I hope that he will be going to get is 7 ODI century today.

And one thing that I noticed from yesterday's match was that Afghanistan went with just one pace bowler (Naveen-ul-Haq). 41 out of the 50 overs were bowled by the spinners. You can't become so over-dependent on the spinners. It is still OK (although not preferable) within the subcontinent, but abroad you can't go with such a bowling attack.

I missed the entire match, i was not expecting an upset from Afghanistan because of their dismal performance throughout the tournament but Asghar Afghan and Nabi played a wonderful knock to take the team to a respectable total but Hope played a patient innings and scored a century to take the team to victory even though they lost two quick wickets at the start of the innings.
I could not watch the match but always kept an eye on the scoreboard since I had a good amount placed for WI. Afghanistan were really doing well but it was Hope who basically kept his mind cool and won the match with his not out 109 runs.

Pooran, Pollard, King and Chase supported him very well till the end.
Now this new generation from West Indies is doing good and players like Pooran, Hope and Chase are really hard workers these can bring some good for this team but first of all Cricket board have to fix problems with players which are hurting them for some long time and just because of their policices many players are concentrating on leagues instead of National team.

Hope ensured that the WI hope do not die if he had got out early Afghan would have got the match in their side and even would have won it . WI is a good side if all the players play as a team could beat the good teams too .
Some of the players are playing in the South African T20 league at present and you can see the full strength team when they are playing any major tournament, if not they will be happy with a second string team to face a team like Afghanistan.

Afghanistan need some good players who could bat for a longer period of time and that too with consistency and the entire series the Afghanistan players were struggling to put some runs on the board and the bowlers did their part but the batsman too perform if they need to win ODI matches, in T20 they might defeat the present West Indies team because they have power hitters and the bowlers are good enough to restrict a good total.

Well they now got Pollard too. Still this match is alive and anyone can win from here. Both my bets in this match and in the tennis match are doing worse LOL.

In the tennis match Medvedev lost his first set :-( Hope he comes back in the send set and win from there.

Usually, I don't prefer to bet any of the match of- Pakistan, WI because their performance is very much volatile, in fact, more volatile than Bitcoin price. It's very risky to bet on. WI can win a match which is impossible, while Pakistan can loss a match which is so easy to win.
Well I was bored so if I lose the I will pay the price of stupidity. It's not okay to gamble when you are not in good mood. It's not just this, I have another bet on Tennis too :-P
Both was done at the same time. Then I went out to have a break and came back and saw WI lost 2 wickets for 4 runs or something :-D

Now another one gone. 68/3 :-)

I didn't had much hope from Afghan batting when they were struggling at 118/5 but it seems to me they made a good comeback, thanks to Nabi who stood strong and gave good support to Asghar Afghan.
I was checking the scores for a while but after 5 wickets, I didn't check even. Had placed a bet for WI to win but seems like they are gonna mess up and lose the match. It's 41/2 after 15 overs, RR is almost 6 now. Well, if Afghan can get some more quick wickets, they can get the match in their hand. WI is far away from win here.

And just before that I placed a bet for WI at an odd of 1.35 or something LOL.

I was bored and nothing much to do so I thought to get some excitements. The target is 250 which is not something that can not be achieved. I hope WI will make it and keep the winning continued.
