Starting new second tier league looks odd to me when they already have few, schedule is major roadblock. IMO the best approach would be allowing foreign players to participate in Ranji, Sayed Mustaq Ali Trophy or Domestic season similar to County Cricket. It has some challenge like salary expectation for SENA players but this could be win-win situation for every party.
- Countries like SL, Ban, Afg, Ire, Zim and associates members can also take benefit. Teams like Afg, Ire and associates members don't get to play much 4 days cricket anyway.
- SENA players can finally learn how to play spin.
- Local players quality will increase and more competitive cricket in domestic arena.
**County allow 2 players in the team, BCCI can start with 1 and see how it goes
Some of the suggestions are good. Senior players like Virat and Rohit hardly takes part in domestic cricket these days, and that reduces the overall viewership and fan interest. The addition of foreign players can slightly reverse that trend. But I don't know whether the state associations would agree to this suggestion. At least a section would argue that cricket in smaller countries should not be developed at the expense of promising young cricketers in India. And for players from countries like England and Australia, the low salary will be an issue. The match fee for experienced players in Ranji Trophy is around ₹240,000 per 4-day match ($3,200).
We can't expect Premier players or who regularly feature in all 3 format to play in domestic arena. They are already treated like cash cow from the BCCI so adding extra duties in their existing jam packed schedule would be torture. Btw upcoming Sayed Mustaq Trophy is going to be exciting, many famous names are going to play for their respective states.
Yeah you are right. Some board might even put Unmukt Chand kind of example that how he had to leave India and join the ranks in the USA cricket.
I think its just a matter of time before things will settled in cricket. I mean money just arrived in cricket that's why few big boards are dominating for past 5 to 6 years. With time small boards will start voicing for there rights and that will be the moment when we have stronger n neutral icc. It's just a matter of time, just relax n enjoy the moment.
As long as the BCCI dominates the ICC, this situation will continue. The other big boards (ECB, CA and CNZ) are not as powerful as the BCCI,
but they act like the sidekicks of the Indian board and try to get a disproportionate share of the revenue for themselves. All that said, I would say that the issues doesn't lies with the BCCI. The real problem lies in the way cricket is being administered. All the other sports bodies (FIFA, FIBA, FILA, IOC, FIH.etc) are being administered by former players. But in case of cricket, most of those at the top are businessmen who care only about money.
This is not accurate reason imo. ICC revenue share is not big for ECB, CA. Big chunk of their revenue comes when they host India in bilateral series, just to give you example CA earned more than $300 Million when India toured Australia and that's how BCCI manipulate the other boards and because of this very reason PCB is pissed off.
