Advanced Mining Technology

My first impression of AMT when I order from them was:
"This company looks like a high tech hardware and chip designer. Almost seems like a silicon valley in the East."

Seems like my opinion of them was right. A company with geeks like my self with no clue about marketing or business operations.
High five for learning on the fly you guys, big balls to sink your passions into this tech sector.

Watch the junk responses to this post because I tell it like I see it.
 Cool

It wasn't even a box, it was cardboard taped together.

Yes it seems fedex did a number on that one. We'll go ahead and schedule a pickup to RMA that miner and have another back to you as soon as we receive it. This is the first instance of a 1.2Th arriving like that, surprised the foam protection on the sides didn't keep it safe like all the other miners shipped.

We'll arrange for an RMA pickup for Monday and have a new miner back to you in a jiffy. Thanks.

I have a similar damage package.

Not only is the package damaged by the components are damaged.

One fan completely destroyed.  Metal rack all bent up.  Two boards appear to have their power connectors destroyed.  One board appears to be bent.

Am I supposed to send this all back?

Why did you folks not ship this unit in a proper package?

This is so upsetting.   I wait for a unit that is delayed for over a month and I get this shoddy packaging!    I can't believe they skimped on packaging for something that cost $6,000.  This is ridiculous.

I've shipped lots of hardware and you need to have a lot of foam and bubble wrap.  AMT shipped the unit with ZERO bubble wrap or foam,  they just had paper to fill up some space. Otherwise, there was zero padding.   Now I get a damaged system!     It is so dumb of them to cut corners on the packaging!

Come on, are you really surprised?

These packages are so inconsistent, packaged and shipped with a hodgepodge mix of packing materials. I guess you gotta use what's available, when you pick your boxes and packing materials out of a walmart dumpster.

Damaged on arrival, missing ethernet cords, no documentation ... what's next? AMT Claims that they haven't had this happen before, but if you read back; there were a few different Bitfury based miners that had theirs damaged in shipping. This has been the norm for AMT since day 1.

Is AMT's shipping department based out of the back of Joshua Zipkin's car? You charge people $6,000 for hardware, then pack it up in next to nothing so it can disintegrate in shipping? Sounds more intentional than not, that or AMT is just so blatantly fucking ignorant.

I suggest anyone close enough go pick theirs up.

I can tell the boards are getting power because I can feel the heat from the chips (not on the larger aluminum heat sink though) But the copper point up off the chip.  So I think there is just a connection error somewhere in the process.

I'm powering two cards the fans and the backplane with the corsair rm 850W and then I'm powering 3 cards and the mainboard with corsair rm 1000w.

I just don't know why it's not recognizing the hashing modules.

The miner I got from Josh and shipped via UPS also didn't make it intact, with the box damaged (just learnt of it now). I even stood over the gal packaging it to make sure it was as secure as possible for a 54 lb device. Luckily, I insured it, thus the buyer WILL be made whole, albeit I'm not sure how long that process takes. I feel I'm covered since they packaged it, for that's one aspect of what they do - a package/shipping outfit that uses UPS.

I shipped before a 100lb server and it got lost by UPS.  Anyway,  I filled a claim and got compensation for the lost package.   I don't think the buyer gets paid,  its the shipper that gets paid and the buyer obviously gets a refund by the shipper.

Anyway,  hope AMT learns their lesson from this.   There is a reason why they invented bubble wrap and styrofoam....USE IT!!!

AMT did use the Styrofoam, but for some other shipment, for there wasn't enough for all the miners.

How is it that AMT shipped out hundreds (their words) of 1.2 TH/s rigs, none of them to members here until recently, and should have had packaging down to a science, yet now more than one person is expressing that they've received damaged units in sub-par boxes, namely makeshift cardboard wrapped around minimum bubble wrap?

Hopefully they respond to pick up. I am still waiting to hear back from them on whether or not I can run down there and pick up the hardware. Sounds like another problem. Least this one I have some more control over for my part.

No paper in mine just bubble wrap. I can't get it up and running and I'm starting to think the components might have been damaged during shipping. The heavy cage wa son top of the pie and main board as well as the back plane.

2 of the 5 cards look undamaged, so I'll try to see if I can get a system working with those.

Meanwhile,  I want to send back just the damage cards and get something returned immediately.

The cage is bent up, but I think I can hammer it together to partially straighten the out.

Also,  one fan totally got disintegrated, need a replacement for that too.

Same here,  I was shipped units in a cage, no case.   The box looked like a makeshift box pieced together from other boxes.

Well then I'll give you a firm NO.

Though they have, according to their posts, softened their position and are considering partial refunds or upgrades. How true his turns out to be is yet to be seen, but I'd not hold my breath.

This is likely because the lawsuit filed against them.

The completed rigs should have been just repacked into their original antec boxes. And then packed into a separate larger box. That is Fedex's recommendation apparently. I still haven't gotten an answer regarding my miner or arrangement to go pick it up. I emailed as requested more than once just to insure someone got it. But no reply yet.

Hopefully over the weekend I hear something. I am trying to make arrangements to go get my hardware. Since it would be nice to have it intact. I prefer to go do a pickup than have to deal with the risk of it getting packaged badly and showing up damaged. Just more wasted time on dealing with that.
They did answer ya here in the forun https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6179402 but ya still nee to give ya direct contact t follow up on that...

Hmm. Since FedEx accepted the package then technically they should be responsible for the damage.

No. They have guidelines on how to pack a shipment. If those guidelines are not followed, they will not reimburse damages. See if you can find AMT's packing method in the guidelines: http://images.fedex.com/us/services/pdf/packaging/Computer_fxcom.pdf

Yep. The FedEx info looks exactly like what we do for our equipment...
