Looks like there has been a hardware failure with our pool server.  Datacenter tech has diagnosed it as being a motherboard issue.  Its currently being worked on/replaced.

I'll keep you informed.

I think something may be wrong. My stats are frozen and cgminer tells me the pool is dead. I've tried connecting using stratum and getwork. I've been connected for days now no issues but I woke up this morning and found  my miner mining at the backup pool I have setup. I can see on the Eligius site that shares are being submitted so it's a little odd that it could be just me, Anyone else?

I'm on it.

OK Thanks that was the fastest response ever.  Grin

Thanks. So an empty reply in this case means that everything is alive and well?

Code:
curl --user dummy:dummy --data-binary '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}'  -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
curl: (52) Empty reply from server

[EDIT: using eligius.st]

No.  stratum is not HTTP (so you can't use curl).  Stratum is just a raw TCP connection that passes json back and forth without other kinds of headers.  Use netcat (nc) to script tests:

Code:
$ echo '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}' | nc stratum.mining.eligius.st 3334
{"result": [[["mining.notify", "50ba4b07000000001"], ["mining.set_difficulty", "50ba4b07000000002"]], "50ba4b0700000000", 4], "id": 1, "error": null}
{"params": [0.9999847412109375], "id": null, "method": "mining.set_difficulty"}
{"params": ["1374725370 31451", "22b834070a29d897dd7a92c131b55214331b44e1e12ce44a0000002700000000", "01000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000ffffffff51030bca030d00456c69676975730051f0a4fafabe6d6dbdc2d64806bb5aae305532732ff463a1c626dbd68e5c02421495d38878814c190400000000000000002f7373312f00", "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", ["7a021ca8631128993192029250fd04e0cf815ca8a07b94065756f625f399a43a", "a8537d5a32a9ae77aec157e3e185dccac8b0ebd47a5330d8d96add4ebb87ab47", "9bfc4c908d8e01fd965eabceeecd4679979dea47fdf1ef8c8160ef6703ea4bd8", "31b63eb50e49905ccc96f7926514204ba9010e62629a644891dbfb8dfc6b9068", "3ee54625a6bb6902e13362ed8675ef4daa155704a71cc7701615215e33bf7487"], "00000002", "1a008968", "51f0a4fa", false], "id": null, "method": "mining.notify"}

BTW is there a similar simple method (telnet/netcat) to test that a  stratum server is responding?

Only works on mining ports. ICMP echo and related protocols and anything not needed for mining are filtered upstream for security purposes.

Of course. Makes sense for a pool to prevent ICMP flooding. My bad, for some reason I thought I had pinged it before.

Hello,

Is it possible to switch on stratum for xg3mjrqqxal4i5g7.onion?

It should already be available.

Since this pool doesn't really have the concept of "workers" should I use a different bitcoin address for each machine.
You can use ADDRESS_WORKERNAME to setup workers.
It doesn't matter either way from the pool's perspective, though.

I think this might be necessary because I'm guess the pool dynamically adjusts the difficulty of the shares. This would make the shares for the FPGA way too difficult if they all share the same account (bitcoin address).
Doesn't matter, since they'd all be one collective.
It might make for poor statistics locally, but that's it.
If you don't like that, use a different worker on the same address.

Luke,

It is possible to see per worker stats (assuming ADDRESS_WORKERNAME is used) ?
Or this is helpful only if you want worker dependent dynamically adjusted difficulty of the shares...

Mining since May 2011.
Anyone having issues with Unpaid Balance and Shelved Shares status not updating? Hashrate Graph appears to be updating though.

Just checking, thanks.

EDIT: Oh, it might be the 16+ hour block from hell.

Quick question about this pool. I have a variety of miners with vastly different speeds (e.g. an Avalon that does 82 GH/s and a FPGA that does 850 MH/s and a few machines in between).

Since this pool doesn't really have the concept of "workers" should I use a different bitcoin address for each machine.

I think this might be necessary because I'm guess the pool dynamically adjusts the difficulty of the shares. This would make the shares for the FPGA way too difficult if they all share the same account (bitcoin address).

But the FPGA, if running on its own address will take weeks just to get a payout. Also, it's difficult for statistics purposes.

What do people who have multiple miners do for this pool?

Understood, Luke-Jr. Thanks for the quick response. Certainly no complaints from me. Smiley I'm just glad knowing I wasn't missing anything.  Wink

Canary has already responded to my pm on the orders, so everything is in great shape.

Thanks!

Hi wk! Excellent work going on here. Thanks for your continued efforts on THE best BTC pool.

Question - how can we log into Eligius site to review order status in the store? Placed an order for a few of the Eligius USB Erupters with Canary. Order confirmation page gives link to check order status, but requires authentication to access the page.

How can one log on to access this? I don't see anywhere on the site?  Huh

Followed up with Canary via dm, but curious to log on anyway... advice?

Thanks!

The whole storefront thing is very much still a work-in-progress.
We just wanted to get it online ASAP since Canary has stock to sell Smiley
Unfortunately, it may be a few weeks before all the functionality works right, as Gateway is pretty busy with some paid work lately.
