In Italy, for example, there has been a significant increase in online gaming accounts during the pandemic period. The numbers record up to 200% more users for online slots and almost 3,500% more for online poker accounts. This means that the first lockdown period has accelerated the progressive shift of gaming to online, so much so that it is assumed that the related market is worth 40% of total revenue.
On the other hand, the period following the lockdown in March and April 2020 had shown a general increase in signs of unease in various forms. Among these in particular were conflicts and family violence. At the same time, there was an increase in requests for counseling from family members of those dependent on gambling.
I guess other countries have experienced similar online gambling growth alongside the same problems.

But what made me curious about the chart is that the rise was only short-lived. Why was it just like that, just a single spike? There was indeed fast growth but then it also quickly fell down to the normal level. And that went on until today. Was there something about crypto gambling which made a lot of newcomers left after becoming curious and even started to play with it? Why does the chart says that the rise was not sustained at all?

We can only speculate unless somebody posted a survey why it is so, the surge at the height of the pandemic because the majority of workers are at home and some physical gamblers are playing here, but now that restrictions have ease up it's back to business for them, many countries have opened up casinos and recreations but the Crypto gambling industry is till doing great.

From the last year, we experience having pandemic. Most of us right now would like to play in real-life gambling, but most of them right now are temporary close. Still, with the use of the alternative of online gambling, some of us give satisfactions to ourselves to play gambling. Still, like real-life gambling, we exchange our money for a chip. We use the chips of their platform with the equivalent value of a stable value like usd. These stats came from the google trend because of my curiosity about how online gambling becomes more popular due to this pandemic.

After it becomes known the online gambling nowadays becomes popular and gather more up users to their platform.

It is a common trend that you see during recessions, when people have less money to spend on more expensive activities (like holidays or buying a new car), they resort to these cheaper forms of entertainment instead. I think you should give a greater time period than one year when trying to show your example because things have been crazy since Covid started and a wider timeframe shows how large the spikes really are. It's interesting to see the correlation between normal gambling and crypto gambling - with the latter going higher, which suggests that crypto investors have a bigger audience with gambling tendencies than the average population.

Gambling its always popular and Online Gambling its create new way for express their habits . especially these days most of many Online Gambling accept crypto as payment . people no worried again about credit card being stole or get scam broker they can gambling directly without third parties and using easier payment.

I agree with you, online gambling is more popular every year! If you check some charts you will see that each year in the last 10-15 years online gambling community is rising! Now I don't wish to make a big difference (even if there's a big difference) between online fiat and online crypto (crypto is online only) gambling, because both are gaining more and more attention!
Of course, everything "online" got a lot more popular during this pandemic! It's a boost, so we can say that pandemic is just speeding up things! For many of us, everything that has some money involved is done online! But sooner or later everyone will be online!

Many gamblers who are used to playing in physical casinos are now playing online, they cannot keep the urge, they are experimenting and since, they are familiar with some of the games on online casinos, it's easy for them to get hooked on online casinos, this is one of the reasons why online casinos becoming popular and membership growing, we now have a big boom of Cryptocurrency online casinos.

I made that move years ago... many of us! Smiley Of course, we had a little help from crypto, crypto made everything easier for us who live in some third-world countries! Now in some way people are forced to move to online gambling, but I guess once they try they will get hooked!

It is good to see that crypto gambling has increased its awareness by the Covid-19 and the current uptrend. The traditional industry of gambling also sees the opportunity lie within the Internet so many of them decide to establish online platform for their casino. With the current pace, online gambling, especially crypto gambling, will soon become an equal challenger to the offline gambling industry

The situation right now gets more in favour with the online gambling by this they already adopted the use of the online world I think its another competition to the real-life gambling industry to fight with this online platform for sure they will make their own gambling website soon

Admit it, even if you are a real-life gambling fan, VR gambling will definitely replace all of your thoughts of gambling by bringing the whole casino into your house

Is there any gambling VR that exist? I've never seen yet one of these.

Probably those Casinos just started to adopt the big change and created their own gambling site so they can offer services online, since its lockdown on most of the country, no one will take the risk to go to casinos and only option is to play online. Crypto gambling site are also growing, because of the adoption that is happening in the market, fortunately most of the new crypto gambling site today offers great services, it encourages more gamblers to come. This pandemic has brought so many changes, we have no more choice but to adopt the big change so no one will be left behind.

From the last year, we experience having pandemic. Most of us right now would like to play in real-life gambling, but most of them right now are temporary close.

Since bitcointalk is a place for bitcoiners to talk, I doubt that most people here like to play real-life gambling. Furthermore, we are an international community and it is apparent that there are people living in gambling restriction areas (that is where I live). Thus, online gambling is the only way for us to enjoy this sort of entertainment

Online gambling became a trend because since last there were a lot of us have been locked down in our homes. But look at that chart, when it has flattened it's because the restrictions have gone lower and everyone is starting to go back to their old lives at least for those countries that have beaten or almost beaten covid 19.

I predicted even with the vaccine and with herd immunity, there's still lock down I watched on the news that the virus is mutating and there are new breed of virus coming out that the present vaccine cannot neutralize, and with the continuous lock down and pandemic the trend will continue gambling will still become the favorite past time during lock down.

Right, we haven't seen this virus before and scientist are still working and see how it will mutate. So even with 2 shots of vaccine, we are still not safe and this could really be the new norm moving on with human history.

So everyone is affected even us gamblers, and the only way to continue our gambling habits is to go online and be safe. Maybe there are still old and traditional players who would like to be on a land base casinos, but they have no choice as well, but to adapt and embrace online casinos now and that could explain the rise in numbers.

Gamblers are actually grateful that online gambling is now existing which is a good alternative for players during this pandemic. It could keep the players safe from the virus while enjoying at their convenience. I guess, if things would go back to normal, most gamblers would still prefer playing online.

Yes. Most of the casino has been shut down physically that's why they are force to do there business online to still generate profit to run there business. Just like many sports adapting to COVID-19 guidelines. People who do gamble regularly become itchy for not playing gambling for a long time that's why many people seek for an alternative that's why online gambling become a trend nowadays.

Op's assuming that most of us would like physical gambling but cannot do it because of the pandemic, but that's actually a question that deserves a separate discussion IMO. For instance, while I played poker in real life, it was only for fun and with my friends. As for gambling, I only do it online and would never even go to a physical casino because I prefer not to interact with people unless I really have to, especially given the stereotypes about criminals hanging out in casinos. I think that the share of online gambling will continue to grow after the pandemic is over because it's very useful, flexible and comfortable. It's also easier for casinos because they don't need to rent a building, have that much staff and things like that.

Good point right there. Not to mention the old physical casinos that has been closed during lockdown has quickly switched online amidst the rise of the pandemic, thus adopting the modern changes with everything going contactless becomes a trend since 2020.
When everything is back to normal, physical casinos would go back to its normal operation and capacity, but It's also expected that online gambling would be at a higher rate compared to those years before the pandemic.

The online trend has increased in all fields of life and not just gambling. Students study online, people do job online and work from home, people buy things online and gamblers play gambling online. With the introduction of 5G in some parts of the world, i am sure we are heading towards an online world.

And because of the new world we are in now, everything becomes so easy now, and there's easy access to everything now even kids can play gambling online, the fights is on the hands of  the parents and adults on how they can restrict and educate their kids from the harmful effects of gambling at a very young age.

Probably we can see the gambling boards is also very active, and then we have new casinos popping up during the pandemic. So yes I would say that online gambling is becoming popular, as those traditional and landbase casino players are looking to have some fun to. And as the sports industry is also in full swing now, the increase in sports betting could also add to the rise of online gambling as well. It might be good though to have data and not just rely to Google trends.

Nothing surprising. It was always a known fact that when pandemic started, everyone had that hype of a feeling where they're pretty much free to do anything since they had a LOT of free time. Considering that, gambling isn't really a surprising option for some, nor should it be. Died down probably on the period where the fact that you had no job temporarily hit hard, and you had to manage your finance for the time being while taking into consideration the situation back then.
I think it isn't just gambling but anything online has been becoming popular due to covid-19.
This. Idrk why it wasn't already popular way back then, the qol changes I got when I started doing most transactions online was enormous, unlike when I went to stores and meetups personally to pay.
