Benfica - Vizela was a really dramatic game. Even though Benfica were playing with ten players they managed to win the game by a last-minute goal. It is five wins on five weeks now. Sporting might be finally recovering because they made a solid effort against Estoril and won by 2-0 comfortably. They really need to wake up as early as possible not to get far away from the championship race. This season they don't have only one rival for the league title in the end so their job is even harder. Benfica are the most impressive team so far and Braga have the best stats by 17 goals and 3 conceded as well.

It has been three years since a different team than Porto and Sporting became the champions. Benfica were the champions of the 2018/19 season and maybe it might be their time to make it again if they manage to keep this level of performance. The Champions League is also starting and we will see how much they will be affected with a higher tempo.

Vizela don't have luck playing against leaders this season. Few weeks ago they conceded goal against Porto on 90th minute and lost game. And now they had 1:1 result with Benfica when on 98th minute penalty was given after Vizela defender touched ball with hand. IMO, it was very cheap penalty. Joao Mario scored it. Mario scored goal and I didn't even realized that then he was sent off after getting 2nd yellow card.

Today we will have two games:
Benfica vs Vizela
History is not on the side of Vizela, who never won against SL Benfica and recorded only one draw in all history with the Reds (W5, L1). However, there is an important factor in this record: that tie was reached in the last game between the two teams, in March of this year.

Estoril vs Sporting
Sporting CP comes to this match in a negative trend. Two consecutive defeats, both without scoring goals and are eight points behind the leader. Despite the bad moment, Sporting is favorite, having seven wins in the last nine official games against Estoril.

Things continue more or less like this. Despite Sporting is currently a little out of shape, even though it remains one of the great Portuguese clubs.
And in recent years, we've had a Braga, which is usually in third or fourth place, and that's why it's already more noticeable.

This season the main candidates to win are Benfica and Porto. Since Benfica is currently showing what is best for this victory.
Thank you for this informations, @joker_josue
What was more or less what I was expecting, I believe Porto and Benfica are one of the best teams in the history of Portugal, and consequently the teams that have the greatest champion titles.

Benfica 3 - 2 P. Ferreira
Benfica had a difficult game and had to fight hard to beat Paços de Ferreira, who with this victory are isolated in the leadership.
Probably the fact that players start to have many games in a row, can cause the performance to drop a little as well as the concentration levels.

Vitória de Guimaraes 0 - 1 Casa Pia

as expected, casa pia won the game

It wasn't quite what was expected. Casa Pia rose from the ranks this season, while Guimarães is a very experienced club in the competition and is usually in the first half of the table.
As a rookie, Casa Pia is making a very good start to the championship, and this victory is proof of that.

By the way, which are the best teams that have a greater chance of being champions?
I remember, a few years ago, Porto, Sporting, Benfica were excellent teams and also known all over the world.
Do they continue like this? Or has the performance of these teams decreased over the time!!?

Look... I believe I was missing a topic related to the Portuguese soccer championship.
Congratulations on this initiative @joker_josue

It's been a few years since I've watched or bet on some Portuguese championship games.

Astonishing start from Braga this season. 17 goals in 4 games while conceding only 3. Most of the teams were lower half of the teams or relegation fodder though, so, cant take the goals on face value. Benfica havent conceded a goal this season, which is always great sign. There's a saying that goes "Good attack makes you win matches while good defense makes you win championships". They have their defender Otamendi on a red card though, but they are against a team that's clearly struggling and has accumulated 3 red cards in 3 games!!!

One of the leagues that still didn't have a topic was the Portuguese League, where you can find some of the historic European clubs, especially FC Porto and SL Benfica (Clubs that have already won the Champions League).
Of course, Portugal is no stranger to me, of course I've seen Portugal give birth to the best players in the world, it's no wonder and it's no secret that some of Europe's top clubs are targeting the best and quality players there.
Such as: Pedro Porro, Goncalo, Vitinha and many others, they are always the target of European clubs like Real Madrid, Man City, Barcelona and so on, I see many of them who have top players come from Porto club, currently the best club and biggest inPortugal.

portugal has excellent players who are playing in almost every team in europe, see that I'm not exaggerating, I believe that in almost every team in europe there must have already been a portuguese player, but the portuguese have one of the best players in the world, I speak de cristiano ronaldo and the portuguese teams also have weight in the champions league. but the biggest problem in portugal is the monopoly that porto is good at in the portuguese league, this does not create competitiveness, maybe things will be different this season

Talking about the 2022/23 Portuguese League, as I know Porto, still places the defending champion position in the Portuguese League, Braga and Benfica are no less great, whose name is a match of course there are wins and losses, conditions and situations are also considered to determine which team will take the trophy for 2022/23 in the Portuguese league, but for this year I believe there are 4 clubs that are defending to win the cup in the portugal league namely: Benfica, Arouca, Boavista, Porto, I believe that the four teams one of them will bring the champion, of course I will update here in the semi-finals.

Arouca and Boavista have no chance of winning anything this season, the dominant teams like: Porto, Benfica, Sporting and Braga will win everything that is to be won, it has been like this for years and I doubt it will change anytime soon.

Saying that Porto is the biggest club currently in Portugal is always a bit subjective. Looking at the last 10 years, Porto won 4 times and Benfica won 5 times. I would say they are very balanced.
If we look at how bigger, by the number of fans, then Benfica wins, with a big advantage.
If we look at it with cups won internationally, then we can say that Porto has a better record.

Betting on Arouca or Boavista to win the Portuguese League Cup is really a big bet. It's unlikely, but it can happen.
Note the "Portuguese League Cup" is different from the "Portugal League".

I vote Benfica as the most suitable candidate who will win the Portuguese League title this season, their game play is improving and I see this season their defense is also very strong after qualifying for the UCL group stage, their players are becoming more confident. In the previous 3 matches in the Portuguese League this team was perfect without conceding a single goal score. Braga is also good, it's just that I agree with Swogerino's opinion, Braga tends to fail against weak teams.

Maybe right now Benfica is the strongest candidate to get the Portuguese league title with 3 wins in a row they got from matches against Boavista, Casa Pia and Arouca. But we have to keep in mind that this is just the start of the league, we will see the winning candidates more closely once the league runs for more than half of the total games. In addition, from the previous 3 Benfica matches, Benfica only faced weak clubs. There is no doubt that they won those games. I am personally more interested in paying my attention to Porto and Sporting CP. Porto won the Portuguese league title last season, while Sporting CP has always been a loyal competitor from season to season.

Braga have zero championship in their Liga Portugal history. Maybe this can be a big opportunity for them to achieve it for the first time but a long and tough season awaits them. Imagining three or even four teams fighting for the championship makes me very interested in this season already. The increase in the level of competition would make this league more attracting than before hopefully too.

Braga really attracts the attention of many people, in the last 4 matches they were able to make 2 goals+ in every match they did (the most was yesterday against Arouca 6-0). Benfica or Porto are still the favorites to win the trophy, both continue to compete but if this time Braga is able to take advantage of the opportunity to continue to win and remain stable then this year's trophy will be theirs.

How interesting it was to see Sporting and Porto having literally the same week. They both were highly dominant in their matches and found numerous opportunities to destroy their opponents. But they both lost by a two-goal difference. Braga and Benfica are the most consistent teams at the beginning of this season. I find Braga more interesting than Benfica. They scored 17 goals and conceded 3 goals only in 4 matches. This is a very similar start to PSG's in the Ligue 1.  Grin

Braga always starts good but they lack consistency against weak teams,if we compare this to another league and team Braga is the Arsenal of the Portugal Liga. They make great games usually but do not keep up or follow along during all the games, they tend to fail against weak teams but this year it looks like they have started with the right foot,it is to early to include or exclude title contenders in such early stage of the league. If I were to bet right now on the winners I would surely bet on Benfica who has yet not conceded a single goal.

Braga's problem is not against weak teams, but consistency throughout the season. Usually they perform well until the middle of the season, but then almost inexplicably they start to have bad results. Maybe this year they will be a little different and fight harder for first place.

Now, if Benfica maintain the same defensive consistency and the same quality in the attack, they will probably be champions.

And someone said that Sporting is already out of race for title. Yesterday's Porto loss shows that's way too early  to make such conclusions. Incredible stats - Rio Ave won against Porto after 36 unsuccessful attempts in a row. They were leading 3:0 after 1st until almost end of the game what is even more incredible. Porto scored when it was already too late to make comeback. They also missed penalty.
Can Braga get involved in title race? It would be interesting, but not likely IMO. They probably will stay close until middle of season, like Sevilla does in La Liga usually.

A couple of surprises already in this league which many people tend to overlook but I used to make lots of money by betting here until one time Sporting lost at an odd of 1.10 I don't remember against which team and I immediately stopped betting here.It is somewhat unbelievable to see Porto lose at home to a team like Rio Ave and concede three goals, this clearly shows that most likely we will see Benfica as Champions despite being very early to say such statement.

Benfica is yet to concede a goal and this shows solid performance from them in the 3 games that they have played.

it was an excellent game that braga did, they scored 2 goals in the first 4 minutes, that was just incredible, braga dominated the whole game, they easily won this game and if they manage to maintain this rhythm then they can go far this season, maybe until they can fight for the title

Braga usually has good starts of seasons, and presents good results.
But, it also seems to me that they will be very competitive this season and probably fought for first place, at least until the middle of the season. They tend to drop a little in the second part of the season.
