Of course, I will be very careful in watching the entire Prime Minister to her, but for me the August 11 contest between Manchester United and Chelsea will be very important.  Any predictions are still very difficult to make, since they are very strong teams, although it will be necessary to revise them in previous results.

Premier League is coming and I can’t control my excitement for it, as a Manchester United fan I’m hoping they finish in top four by the time it ends. The title race will be between Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham, and for some peculiar reason I feel Liverpool will win it though I’ll be over joyed if they don’t. Manchester United vs Chelsea matches are always entertaining, and it’ll be more fun because both ex players Ole and Lampard are now coaches at their respective clubs.

many players have come to the English league for the coming season. do you think what clubs will be unexpected will be challengers of big clubs in the Premiere league? this is interesting to discuss.
This kind of thing is difficult to predict. Because the competition really hasn't started yet and the club can be a challenger, of course anyone can. But in reality the small English league club that dominates at the beginning will usually end as usual, the middle board class or even below.
it is difficult but we can see a number of English clubs making considerable changes at their respective clubs and I think this year many things will be unthinkable.

Wanna make a bet?  Give me good odds.  I say Chelsea won't finish in the top 6 after the 2019/20 season.

Edit:  Chelsea is at 1.16 to finish in the top 6.  That's like huge.  But since we're betting small, we could do your 30 for my 10?

I’ll take you up on that my friend. Quote this to confirm Smiley
Chelsea will finish top 6 imo.

Booked!

For some reason I think I just made another implusive bet now that's it on.  Lololol.  Anyway good luck!  Chelsea gonna go down!  Grin

Not a great day for Newcastle fans, Steve Bruce the new manager -

https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/steve-bruce-appointed-as-newcastle-united-head-coach/

They also lost 4-0 to Wolves in a pre season game.

I did not follow Newcastle changes at all, whether they have new owners?
there were speculations about Mourinho only if they have new rich owners, and want to spend a lot of money on making a new team.

They don’t have new owners yet, no. If they had uber rich new ownership they wouldn’t have employed Steve ‘never achieved anything’ Bruce. I think Newcastle could be in real danger of relegation this season.

It seems like a team like Newcastle doesn't have new players. Because there are no rumors or news at all related to transfers. If there is also, it might not be exposed by the media. Because I also didn't follow Newcastle's development. Most of the transfers of players exposed by the media are big teams.

How dissappointing to expect Mourinho and getting Steve Bruce  Grin
I think that the board is not going to spend a lot of money in transfers by noticing who is appointed as manager...

The coach will often be blamed if the team often loses in matches. But this situation was different for Lampard, because Lampard had just started and needed time to build a team to be stronger. If I experience defeat I think that is a very natural thing.

Lampard should get a free swing this season seeing as though he can’t sign anybody.

Coaches get too much blame for team failures, everything ultimately relies on how the players perform and a coach has very little bearing on that.

Lampard will surely be a fan favorite since he was a former star for Chelsea but football fans are notoriously short tempered and Frank may not handle the criticism well if things go south.

^  I think Chelsea won't even finish top 6 at the end of this coming season.  IMHO.  And yes, I'm willing to back my big mouth with a small bet (vs somebody trusted).  Lolol.  Give me good odds tho.  Smiley

Man City or Liverpool - 1st & 2nd
Spurs - 3rd
Arsenal - 4th
Man Utd - 5th

I’m struggling to see Chelsea finish any lower than 6th?

I don't think they'll do terrible but it's not easy getting into the top five these days, especially with City and Spurs becoming huge clubs in recent times and pushing the others further down the table. I'm kinda hoping Wolves get Costa and some other good players so maybe they can challenge for a top 5 position and shake things up a bit. I doubt Wolves will be able to afford Costa's wages though.

If you think you know your PL football then put your money where you mouth is and win some prizes. All money is split between the top five winners and the more people that join the bigger the pot gets.

@buwaytress - I agree on Abramovich actually, he probably only went to the UK to dodge tax or some kind of business scheme. I think he wanted to get his money out of Russia. Maybe things have changed & he doesn’t have a need for Chelsea any more.

Maybe these oil rich teams should be careful what they wish for. Once the owners money tap gets turned off look what happens. Be interesting to see if Man City’s owners continue to be so passionate about spending in years to come.

@Naida, logfiles, deathangel. I can't remember when I said this but probably closer to the end of last season but I think Chelskimovich lost interest. You can't ignore that he was absent for many games (yes, he had Visa issues, but he was also absent from watching the game elsewhere apparently), he's got that woman anyway to handle Lampard (without ever talking to Lampard, btw), and he basically just only now realised his money can't any longer buy success. Sarri being replaced was less him caring and more him just signing off on a business decision.

But back to Premier League football, anyone punting on the Asian Premier League teams? I'm wondering if Newcastle upset plus City standard steamroller win is worth it. Matches start in a few hours, might sneak in a few views just for the heck of it in between work.

You think Abramovich doesn't understand the situation?
He must be happy that he managed to find Lampard that will be Sarri's replacement. He is not stupid not to understand the situation. He realizes that Frank's job is difficult.
He clearly doesn't understand according to all the past encounters with different managers. Hey, I am not just concluding all these out of nowhere. Just go read through all past manager departures since the arrival of Abramovich

I think maybe Abramovich has lost the hunger he once had to make Chelsea win lots of trophies. They don’t spend as much as they used to & it’ll be even harder for them this season because they can’t but anybody.
I predict a tough baptism for Lampard in the PL.
Don't you think it's because of the transfer ban?
Otherwise, I don't think Abramovich has lost that hunger yet. He wouldn't be sacking coaches left and right with just one bad season.
Without that ban, am pretty sure Chelsea would be spending freely already as we saw them sign Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic.

Give me a same example of a manager that came to sit on Chelsea's bench, when the team was in the difficult position of not making transfers.
This situation is different, this is what I'm saying.

The problem with big clubs is that they don't have a lot of patience when it comes to their managers, they don't have the time to let the managers build their team and will always pressurize them in terms of winning trophies.
