hmph..
I think there really is a difference between injured players and those who are positive co-19. However, I disagree if only with a few positive players, then the club must be relegated. each team has at least 24 players, if only 2 are positive, while the other is negative, the club still has 22 players left. Then, why don't they give a chance to compete.

If it really happened like this, then the federation should make a wiser decision, by stopping the league, and making Liverpool as champions. This will be fairer than describing one club that has positive players.

Yeah 2 players shouldn't really change much even if its Salah and Van Dijk to be fair. Sure the league is closer when you go down but in the end 2 players are unlikely from the same team and even if it is that shouldn't really change for anyone. Plus its more important for teams to come back and play and earn money again instead of jus waiting for the players to heal back again.

At the end of the day if you do postpone once again until you reach to zero infected rate, you are going to wait too much and these teams are going to lose over a billion dollars combined, instead of that just test everyone, see who has it and who doesn't, and the clear ones will go ahead and play and the infected ones could wait until they recover, that way you start sooner instead of waiting and you also start earning money once again.

It is still sad that 2 people have infection but that shouldn't really stop the league at all.

It is truely just 2 people to be honest, but it could be their best players and it would be difficult for the clubs to cope with it.
It is commendable though doing those tests and announcing, and with group training starting out this week (it was voted today); we can look forward to the EPL commencing very soon.

It doesn't matter if its their best players.

If their best player gets an injury, hamstring or something? does that mean they can drop out of the league and not be relegated?  no

Why would this be different? a team is the squad not the individuals.

2 players could be fine as long as it is not one of the major ones. We are talking about a league so deep that the last team on the rankings have 25th man on the registry that means the 24th and 25th could be positive and wouldn't change a thing. You know what would be very important, take a look at all the starting elevens of the league and take a look at the usual bench players of the league, test them and see if there is any positives there.

If the players (which is only 2) that was positive are players who are not on that list and only players who never played this year or maybe get a bit of time off the bench on a cup game or something, that means it is basically all clean. It is still sad that 2 people have infection but that shouldn't really stop the league at all.

Well one of player who tests positive is the main goalie of Bournemouth tho.

That is too subjective. It can only be 2 players. No "its the best" player

It's confirmed that one of Bournemouth players tests positive, and since Bournemouth is on 18th position in the table, it's a hard situation for them. It might make FA to reconsider the plan to continue Premier League, and if it's stopped, Bournemouth will be relegated immediately. Iirc all of players and staffs will be checked regularly every week and hope those infected players recovered next week.

Edit: It's been revealed that the player who tests positive is Aaron Ramsdale. Would be hard for Bournemouth since he is the main goalkeeper atm.

Amazing how it seems to only be teams in danger of getting relegated that have players testing positive. Call my cynical but.......

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
I think there’s a plan to restart the season on the weekend of 20th June which gives the teams 3.5 weeks more training before a return to playing games.
With that much time I think all teams are still able to conduct their training sessions individually or in groups with not much but it is hoped that there will be no more positive tests before the English league match starts on June 20th.

All must be prepared whatever happens later when playing must be ready because this is the match that awaited by many fans respectively.

They will need more magic sponges than before so each player can be restored from any broken limbs and rolling around on the floor without sharing it.   Cheesy

I saw some goal celebrations in Germany today, it looks so joyless. Players kind of high fiving with their lower arm bones, just weird. I guess we have to get used to it though.
That's the latest football celebration right now, still better than kissing your team mate, we just have to get used to it due to the pandemic ravaging the world, some major leagues might resume back but the fun behind football both on and off the pitch for both spectators and players will be missing, hopefully we get out of this situation for good soon

Either have contact or don't I think. This elbow handshake is just stupid.
Such movement are indeed unnecessary but well...players always do silly things. The essential thing is that they are screened.
What they're doing is spreading awareness [a positive thing to do, even if some of them do it as a joke]...
- It might not completely eliminate the chances of getting infected or transmitting it but it significantly reduces its chances.

Based on the latter part of that statement, anyone knows how many stages there will be before actually resuming the season?

Stage Two of the Return to Training protocol has been agreed following consultation with clubs, players, managers, the PFA, LMA and the Government.

Discussions are ongoing as work continues towards resuming the season, when conditions allow.

Not your keys, not your coins!
Later today we would get news of the current position and the possibility that football would return in England.
The situation is looking promising, after two rounds of testing, majority of players (99.5%) have turned up negative.

Many reasons for that result and it is good because the whole UK. has still been in lockdowns. Things will change with (maybe) a second wave of infections but the fact that we have to accept is the virus will be here with us. It won't dissappear after a few months and the economy and society can not be put into lockdowns and gradually destroy like that.

Football will be resumed when society comes back to work with its new normality. That's it. Stay positively with hope on Premier League and stay safe too.

Can anyone confirm this?

Written like this should mean "at least 1 player has been found positive"

It’s genuine news, only 2 (which includes players & staff from every club) were positive for COVID19. It’s not bad really is it, only 2.

Some countries, report the total number of positive tests in a specific day but a smaller number is shown in worldmeters site for example. In fact these countries include the old infected persons and the test confirm if they are still carrying the virus or not (so they don't count on that day because they were already counted on a previous day).
I don't know if this is the case here or not but if it is, then it is good.
