I think the main reason why bitcoin is dropping because bitcoin is belong to the business world that walk in all stages of business process. Especially bitcoin is not just a business that can be shown in the physical world of market but bitcoin in physical and unseen in someways because bitcoin is crypto in digital access. The dropping of bitcoin is part of business, it will come back.

An important reason why the market has again lowered today are the hedge funds.
Today on17.1. is the first futures expired on the BTC. The funds have been betting on falling prices (shorted). The difference from today's BTC rates and the value of 17,000 is the profit they make.
And that, without owning 1 BTC. (short sale)
The high investments made by hedge funds, the BTC's values will continue to remain very volatil.

China and South Corea earn some easy money and made all this FUD.
I consider this as a pre-play stage from such big players as South Corea and China and we should be prepared for the new attempts of Such Two in the nearest future((

I don't know what are the reasons why bitcoin  dropping until now. Many  of bitcoiners loose their interest in bitcoin especially when the price of it decreases but don't worry just wait for the condition of bitcoin until it raise up of their price. We all know that bitcoin price was volatile so that we don't need to be afraid instead, be patient until we reach the good price.

Lending projects have lost their status as in 2017, so the demand for buying / selling BTC of investors less. In addition, some major Asian countries that have issued negative laws also affect the value of Bitcoin.

I somewhat agree. People are really loosing interest to Bitcoin. That's why the price is going down. But in my opinion there are also some other reasons. First of all, it's huge price that doesn't let newbies buy Bitcoin, so bitcoins now literallty circulate between exchanges. Secondly, it's technical disadvantages of Bitcoin: slow speed, missing smart contract support, high fees. And thirdly, yes, it's passive dev team. Nothing is done to help it grow.

Well, bitcoin price fell to $9900 a few hours ago and that was the chance for everyone to buy cheaper bitcoin, even for now bitcoin still on discount time as long as it still below $13K as the new level of price for bitcoin in the last few weeks.
The biggest problem why bitcoin losing its value because the usability which fades away due to scale problem remains unsolved that cause too many unconfirmed transactions and we have to pay ridiculously high fees to pass the long queue.

Reasons why #Bitcoin is droping:

- Not a single rebrand since 2009
- No "huge news" or "strategic partnerships"
- Not enough airdrops
- Not enough PhD graduates on the team
- Team not doing bounties...
- Logo is not cool
- Satoshi is not being communicative

This was tweeted by person named Crypto Rand, what do you think about his tweet . I think these reasons always exit but Bitcoin is still very expensive, I would like to know your thoughts on this

Many people loose thier hope about the situation of bitcoin currency droping.because of many bad circumtances happen. Like south korea and china they ban bitcoin.so the interest of the bitcoin will dump.but we should also hope that bitcoin can recover soon.

The price of bitcoin is dropping nowadays since people stopped investing their money on bitcoin as its price is not stable so it's perilous and it might be an insecure way to develop their money besides the transactions are getting low, those changes has definitely brought influence on the price of bitcoin.

I'm not going to take the reasons seriously. Its utterly garbage for me. The reason for the price of bitcoin getting stalled ad of today because of FUD. What has the LOGO something to do with the price? Satoshi has not been in communication years ago already. Bounties? WTF? He is just trolling. I would have agree if the authors say about the cost of transaction is really affecting the price, but the reasons above? Nah.. We have to remember that the market is based on pure speculation. If there is a negative news, verified or not, investors will shy away from flocking to the market. Read all about the South Korean FUD and decide for yourself if the news contributed to the roller coaster ride that we are experiencing.

The user anushkasachith888 is just having fun and making funny comments. All the mentioned reasons by the user is either made for fun or he/she is a kid with no practical knowledge it seems. Bitcoin is falling due to as mentioned new Korean speculation and banning news, and speculative forcasting by some top investors and traders is acting as a catalyst.

Excuses me, Well, All my threads and comments on this forum are just educational purpose as a person who study every day about Bitcoin and Crypto. Everyday I am learning from everybody here. So, I don't have any fun with this thread as well. I can learn from you too. Thanks for the response mate..

Bitcoin drops these days due to the fact that South Korea wants to ban bitcoin exchange. It is estimated that 20-30% of bitcoin transactions are from this country.

I would say that guy, whoever he is, got it all wrong and has no idea of what he is talking about. No huge news or strategic partnerships? First bitcoin is already mainstream in terms of awareness. Bitcoin is still talked all over the place, so I don't know what he means. As for partnerships, I just have to say that bitcoin is decentralized, so why would it have strategic partnerships? The only thing that can happen, is to advance in terms of regulation, and be accepted as a payment method, and that is happening slowly (expect for the payment method thing, but that is because of the fees involved in tx).
"Not enough PhD graduates on the team" is he serious?? The bitcoin dev team is the best in the crypto space, and no other coin even compares with it, so that is just plain wrong.
As for the other reasons pointed out, they just seem irrelevant as a big joke. Bitcoin needs some development, in order to solve it's scalability uses and user interface, but that is being worked out. Even recently I read something about Jonas Schnelli trying to create ways for everyone to be able to run a full node by itself, without having to be a tech savvy.

Okay, How do you see the Bitcoin future with its transaction fee and speed issue ? Now there are faster and lower transactions fee coins, and more secure coins as well which cannot be traced, So considering these facts do you think coin which is more potential than BTC should lead the crypto currencies ?
Advantages Bitcoin is not that transactions would not be traced, but quite the opposite! What is there to argue about, if we only look at its value.

When it comes to money, not everything is black and white. Humans are not rational after all, when it comes to dealing with money. Bitcoin's image at this moment is way important than its technical shortcomings because people trust bitcoin. No matter how great the technology of a new altcoin may be, unless people start trusting it the way they trust bitcoin (and we all know how much of an issue trust is, even for bitcoin); it will not reach its potential.

And does he have superpowers to see the future or is he is some wizard who has crystal balls? as I did not see him show any of the things (superpowers or crystal ball) then he is equal to all of us who make price forecast, nothing more.

 Grin

I see it all as a big joke, these are requirements for altcoins, bitcoin has already conquered your space and bitcoin has real-life use.

When it comes to the transaction speed, low fee, secure . there are altcoins which surpass bitcoin . do you agree? even though currently bitcoin is the king. As you think Is nt there any threat for BTC' dominance from altcoins in upcoming years ?
