To be completely honest, LovceV I'll do everything I can to get him to read the rules, but if he proves to be a spammer, I'll personally rip him apart. It is my responsibility to do so.
Lol, that doesn't answer my question Wink

Okay, LoyceV Yes, I believe him to not be a spammer inshallah  Grin thank you.

I'd like to recommend this user: Montero1225 I don't know him and I don't trust him.
From your interaction with him, do you expect him to not be a spammer? If so, I'll whitelist Montero1225.

I'd like to recommend this user: Montero1225 I don't know him and I don't trust him. I met him on Twitter NG and he said he's interested in crypto and wants to learn more, so I directed him to this site. First and last.

Is it possible to add him on a whitelist?

Please believe and convince Wink
Sorry, I don't accept your vouch.

I have "upgraded" my list of accepted users:
Users whitelisted by me after a request

Users whitelisted by me without a request
This makes it easier to see who's active.
I'll highlight Banned! users. The post count only shows when the user has at least 1 post. The link to "all posts" only shows when the user made a post, even if it's deleted. Trust shows when it's not +0 / =0 / -0 and Merit shows when it's more than zero.
I'll update the entire list whenever I add someone.

Whitelisting works on usernames, not email addresses.

I know ***@gmail.com personally.
Please whitelist him.
Sorry, even though your account is older than mine, I don't consider you an established (and active) member. You haven't earned any Merit, and your last posts violate forum rules 12 and 32 several times.

I don't accept your vouch:
If an established member knows you personally, they can post your username in this topic for whitelisting. I won't accept vouches from for instance a bounty hunter with 1000 Activity and 0 earned Merit.)

Please add that the user must add his username with the request
It's in there already:
Now the tricky part: apart from including your Bitcointalk username, you'll need to convince me you deserve it.

many people have sent me a message and they did not include the account username and I can't search for users using the email.
I consider this a reading test: if a user doesn't read the topic properly, it's easy to reject the request.

Several people asked me why I've rejected them, or what they did wrong. I can't answer that: it's up to the user to convince me they deserve to be whitelisted, and I don't want to tell them how to cheat the system.
As theymos wrote about the evil fee: "the vast majority of accounts that hit it should not be whitelisted".

you are in no position to know the IP log of any user
It's bad enough already they need to show me their email address.

The @jreesun guy quoting is beyond the average score for a newbie that is a legendary quoting if you ask me I'm not saying more than this.
I don't think so (this is why). But even if it's true, creating an anonymous alt-account for privacy is totally fine.

My question is this – does asking someone to do a video of their IP not violate a user's privacy? I'm sure there are genuine newbies who may be facing this same issue. Kindly clear this up
Whosoever behind this is doing the wrong thing and should abstain from it before you get exposed, you are in no position to know the IP log of any user users privacy is key. The whitelisting thing is a personal judgment thing, theymos didn't ask anyone to do KYC, must we abuse every system on this forum?

I know I would have left!
I would've left too. I don't like unnecessary stress.

Just post here:
2. Get someone to vouch for you
If an established member knows you personally, they can post your username in this topic for whitelisting.
I actually did in that post (though I didn't include my friend's username) 👇 below as soon as my friend started corresponding with the veteran member whose name I didn't know even then until after I had to send him a pm when he asked for that evidence. I felt posting there would be a cue for veteran to know I was vouching for the newbie. Except if they didn't take me to be a reputable member of the forum 🤷

I like the way this is turning out that some reputable members are seriously finding a way to help out on this evil fee. In the past I had had to pay for two friends because they didn't know jack about Bitcoin and never had any at the time. Right now, I'm vouching for another friend who's very interested to grow and advance his knowledge of cryptocurrencies. I'm happy to be doing this for them.

I actually checked all the profiles of those listed there (though many haven't made a single post after getting cleared)
This worries me a bit: what if they're waiting until there's less attention on them? Then again, maybe I've just seen too many spamming Newbies.

I must say they make it very easy to reject them, if they can't follow simple instructions.
Does that include asking a new user to do a video of their IP?
No, it's mainly just reading the OP. I don't see how a video adds anything.

My new friend who was in correspondence with one of the handlers of the listed email addresses here was asked to do a video of their IP to prove a point that it wasn't a farmed account of mine.
That wasn't me Smiley I don't want to know IP-addresses, and wouldn't be able to tell how much evil it has anyway.

Asking is one thing, giving it means consent. So I don't think it's a privacy violation in the legal sense, but I wouldn't ask it.
I can imagine asking which VPN or something is used though.

I do ask different users different things sometimes. I'm still figuring out what works. Several don't even respond anymore after that.

    Users whitelisted by me

You see? The above user is one of those the forum would've lost if you, LoyceV, hadn't whitelisted them. I actually checked all the profiles of those listed there (though many haven't made a single post after getting cleared) and got the surprise of my life when I got to the quoted user and noticed the magnificent experience they have in tech. With just three posts within a day after registration, the user already garned 53 merits. Well deserved merits at that, owing to the calibre of users who merited there. I'm thinking – would jreesun had moved on (out from this forum) if no one whitelisted them against the evil fee?

I must say they make it very easy to reject them, if they can't follow simple instructions.
Does that include asking a new user to do a video of their IP? I referred someone to the forum and wanted them to be whitelisted, not as if it was any big deal for me paying the evil fee for them. I had done that for two others in the past, actually. My new friend who was in correspondence with one of the handlers of the listed email addresses here was asked to do a video of their IP to prove a point that it wasn't a farmed account of mine. That really got me pissed and I told them to forget about that, that I would rather pay the evil fee for my mentee than make them pass through stress and expose their privacy for something as little as that.

My question is this – does asking someone to do a video of their IP not violate a user's privacy? I'm sure there are genuine newbies who may be facing this same issue. Kindly clear this up.

No. Some don't even send their username, and I'm not going to share email addresses.
I've just had a few users asking for help, without actually providing any of the information stated in the original thread. I've just sent them a link back to this thread, and if they read it they'll know what to do, I'm not going to spoon feed them for a lack of a better phrase. I want to know that they actually have put the time into reading it, and at least know the type of content that's needed in the email instead of me reiterating it through the email itself.

I haven't had to many users contact me though. Although, I imagine your probably getting a lot more requests than a lot of us due to your email being the first one listed, and there will probably be users who email every single email in the thread, just in case they can persuade one, but not the other.
