Seven from eight as we near the finals!

The scores speak for themselves - there are two halves to this competition - the #NRLtopSIX and the rest.

If there were relegation, then these scores would be a rarity, not a weekly occurrence.

I watched the Broncos Vs Storm game from start to finish - the Broncos were playing the same as they were at the start of the season where I said I wouldn't back them any more.  I'd be gob-smacked if they made the Grand Final.

Increasingly, I'm seeing The Panthers Vs the Sharks in the Grand Final with the Sharks to win.  Week after week, they just get in and play a decent game.

If it's not the Panthers Vs Sharks, then it'd be Cowboys Vs The Storm (with Townsville winning that dust-up)

Really close game today between the Rabbitohs and the Panthers, I was following the score
on NRL.com, 12 - 12 at half time and 22 - 22 with 78 minutes gone when Liam Martin very Irish name!
popped over for a try and that was it.
I needed that win against the odds for my wallet!

And New Zealand in a close game over Argentina.

NRL:

Seven from eight last round! Just the Tigers failing to gnash their teeth stopped it being a perfect round for me.

This week I'm picking the Panthers, Bulldogs, Rabbitohs, 1 Cowboys, Sharks2, Broncos3, Dragons (could be the Raiders) and the Sea Eagles.

My preferred online site is only offering odds on four of the fixtures with the other four probably even money on the favourites.

Not an overly great late season round to have with just three from eight.

I think I'm going to go with the Rabbitohs or tonight's match up with the Panthers (and not just because they are the favoured team online). Townsville's Cowboys, Melbourne Storm (the Broncos will probably take their foot off of the accelerator given the Sea Eagles have missed out on eighth place on the ladder this year). The Eels will once again be too slipery for the Bulldogs.  The Sharks will maul the Sea Eagles who gave up last round.  Likewise, the Tigers are back to "playing games oold" as said by the ABC commentator during last weeks drubbing and should loose against the Roosters.  The Dragons will slay the Titans after a year they'd rather not remember.  Which just leaves the Knights to be slain by the Raiders.

Australia v South Africa - will the Wallabies bounce back and redeem themselves against
the mighty Springbok's?

New Zealand v Argentina - Can the Pumas back up their massive win last week by beating
bottom of the table All Blacks?

I cant put any bets on yet on either Nitro or Rollbit, I can however pick an outright winner of
the tournament on Rollbit!

For this weeks round I have only 3 wagers:

Panthers to beat Storm
Cowboys to beat the Roosters

Sharks to beat Wests Tigers

Updating my bets from last weekends round 22 from the NRL and it really wasnt supposed
to turn out the way it did with the top two losing but still retaining their positions. The Roosters
needed that win over the Cowboys to stay in the top 8.

Interestingly Rabbitohs play Panthers, will the Panthers be able to at least score this coming round?
Rabbitohs held the Eels scoreless last weekend.

Well great surprise for me , i cant see the game but when i go back to my home a huge victory against Australia in this second game.
Really good to see the Pumas lifting the heads like this way. Lets keep in this path.

Damn it, I forgot about the Rugby Championship this weekend again!

Thats a big win by Argentina with a big score too 48 - 17 >

Reading that report above it looks like there was somee bad refereeing decisions
but I'm not sure Australia would have wone anyway.

Quote
It was the Pumas’ biggest-ever win over the Australians and, on the back of the thumping
bonus-point victory, they moved to the top of the four-nation standings.

Does anyone know what the odds on Argentina to win were?and did anyone have them backed?

I just checked in with ROLLBIT to see if they have listed the Outrights and they do as follows for the winner:

I'm definitely going to have to check that service out.

I was gob-smacked to learn the Storm beat The Panthers 16 - 0 last night.  It is the first time the Panthers have been scoreless in seven years.  The last time was against the Storm and also at Penrith Park oval where they played last night.

What a strange game, I was following the score line on and off at work. ZERO points
scored by the Panthers and ZERO points scored in the second half by either team,
was anyone playing in the second half? did everyone go home? Joking aside do the
Panthers have their eye on the finals already and are they "saving" themselves for those?

Well i see the last 20 minutes when argentina was ahead and what i see was a lot of fault whistled by the referee and i really dont see any , but i think he was so fussy and charged Argentina with 8 fault in 10 minutes, however the Argentinian narrator says the Pumas was losing the discipline and commited so much fouls , so i think i was 50 % of referee and  50% of the Pumas players.

Hmm, The Pumas still have a lot of work to do to be more competitive. They are playing in a
competition with 3 top teams.

Rugby Championship: All Blacks star Beauden Barrett cleared of injury, available for selection against South Africa, after sickening mid-air collision

All Blacks star Beauden Barrett is expected to be fit and available for selection for the second test against South Africa this weekend, after escaping injury from his sickening mid-air collision during the first-test loss.

Barrett was taken out by Kurt Lee-Arendse while contesting a high ball during the 26-10 defeat at Mbombela, tumbling headfirst into the Mbombela Stadium turf in a hearts-in-mouth moment.

The Springboks wing was red-carded by referee Angus Gardner for the incident, as Barrett - after laying prone for a few moments - eventually left the field on his own accord, but was immediately replaced.

Coach Ian Foster said Barrett had undergone scans and was cleared of serious injury, but would be monitored closely throughout the week, before any firm decision was made on his availability.

But Barrett has informed Newshub that - much to his own surprise, given the severity of the fall - he's suffered no lingering pain whatsoever in his neck and is ready to go for Sunday's (NZ time) rematch at Johannesburg.

What a shit end of the game by the PUMAS, a shame, they have the win in their hands ,and they fall apart.

Argentina its playing bad in the last games, i hope we can improve. I only see the final of the game but seems like they have some fatigue.

Ah I didnt realise this competition had started, I actually didnt hear anything about it at all.

So first game down and a fairly big score difference, Argentina 26 - 41 Australia. Reading
a report on PlanetRugby it sounds like the Referee had an infleuence on the outcome with his
poor performance, not sure if the Pumas would have beaten  the Wallabies anyway.

It's definitely a tale of two halves, the lower half of the NRL Ladder for 2022 looks like this at the moment:

As you can see, their favoured betting site no longer offers odds on five of the #NRLbottomsix (Titans, Tigers, Knights, Warriors or Bulldogs) .  It's more than likely either the Raiders or Dragons will take up the top spot at eleventh on the ladder.  In saying that of the three, if the Dragons win this weekend, then the Sea Eagles will be the only one to have lost more time than they have won, so it's still up in the air which of those three will fill eleventh spot.

At the top of the ladder, the #NRLtopSIX is shaping up to be Panthers, Cowboys, Storm, Sharks and Eels taking up five spots with the Rabbitohs, Roosters and Broncos tussling for the sixth spot on the ladder.

I feel the Sharks have been the "quiet achievers" of this season while both the Rabbitohs and Roosters have been more prominent, but are also playing reasonably well from week to week.

I'll wait until the end of the weekend to look at the #NRLmiddle four being two from the (Broncos, Roosters, Rabbitohs) and two from the (Raiders, Sea Eagles, Dragons).  The three most likely of the four are the Broncos, Raiders and Dragons.

We'll know in ~ 36 hours time.

I haven't put money on the grand final (none of the sites I'm on are offering odds as yet).

You'd have to imagine it'll be the Panther's versus one of the current top eight in second to eighth position?

Hmm ROLLBIT had odds on the outright winner for each team but they are not listed
there now? Yea it really is hard to see anyone other than the Panthers winning but yea
its all on the day, key injuries could play a part possibly but I'm guessing the Panthers have
good depth in their team.

I just heard the second half of the Broncos Vs Roosters game on the radio. The Roosters were never in doubt and the commentators forecast the Broncos will slide to seventh place on the ladder by the end of the weekend.

The Roosters have just chalked up their fifth consecutive win too. (One from one  Grin )

Nice one Timelord, good call!

Yea TBH the Roosters have 11 wins 9 losses I expected more of them this season and
I hope the Broncos make it at least into the finals, they deserve it after the turn around
in performance since last year.

There are only 5 rounds including this one left before the finals so these really are the crunch
rounds which really need to be won by those looking at the final 8.

Storm, Eels and Rabbitohs will be cementing their claim to the top 8 going forward, top 3 are
safe enough.
