I have two bets on the NRL for today, same as Timelord Panthers to beat the Sharks and
Rabbitohs to beat Storm. The odds suggest this could go either way, both teams seem to be
evenly positioned on the ladder with wins, losses and points difference.

@Timelord2067 have you picked an outright winner for the tournament? at this stage
last year I had Panthers, Eels and Storm picked, nothing this year though.

I'm just watching the start of tonight's game. The Sea Eagles have just kicked off (my monies on them this round).

*edit*

Have done my dash on the Sea Eagles.  I managed to see the first sixty minutes, there were a few knocks and tumbles and a couple of players were carried off the field in much the same way as occurred in Game three of the State of Origin last week.

The Knights and Roosters are playing the later game tonight with the Roosters scoring their second try just now to take the score to 10 - 2 (with the conversion missed) after 27 minutes of game play.

*2nd edit*

The Roosters have pounded the Knights into oblivion winning 42 - 12.

Massive win by the Broncos yesterday to beat The Eels, 14 - 36 and with great odds too!

Rugby League - Australia - Telstra Premiership

The Eels look to be favourites @ 1.57 against 2.29 for the Broncos, I might to a cheeky
bet on the Broncos.

I have the Sea Eagles for the game starting in a coue of minutes @ 1.64

↓ they better do something serious in the second half, 14-0 at the break....

The betting site I'm on is forecasting the Eels to win against the Broncos, however, I'm picking the Brisbane team because they sound determined to win in all the interviews I've seen on local TV whereas the Eels all year have been playing a week-to-week game and mentality.

Similarly, the Sea Eagles have recharged and regrouped after their dud start to the season.  The Qld State of Origin Captain is back in the Sea Eagles ranks, so that will fire the team up I would imagine.

Both the Roosters and Canberra (with five or six wins in a row under their helmets) are the obvious choices for their match-ups.

Last week's loss aside, I think the Panthers can almost do no wrong, so I'm going with them.

The Rabbitohs will becalm the Storm who are running out of puff as the season progresses while the Bulldogs will bight the Titans as they tussle to exit the #NRLbottomSIX

... and finally, North Queensland is almost unbackable in second spot on the ladder staring down the Tigers who are still holding the wooden spoon this season.

Rugby League - Australia - Telstra Premiership

With 7 rounds left to go before the finals round 19 this weekend is throwing up some
interesting games for example the first game on Thursday sees the Broncos up against
the Eels, positions 5 and 6 on the ladder, the Eels looking to climb and the Broncos hoping
not to start falling outside the top 8 and fail to reach the finals.

To me both teams have been surprising compared to last year, Broncos were really under
performers last year and this year the Eels have had some really mixed results.

The Eels look to be favourites @ 1.57 against 2.29 for the Broncos, I might to a cheeky
bet on the Broncos.

The Panthers will host the Sharks and the Rabbitohs hise Storm, I think I will be picking
the Panthers and Storm along with the Cowboys in second position who meet bottom
of the ladder Wests Tigers.

My money for tonight's games are on the Cowboys and the Eels.

Will post the betting slips later.

Well 1 from 2 there Timelord, I didnt bet on either the Cowboys or Sharks, to me that
would be a flip of a coin.

I have 3 small bets on the NRL this weekend:

Broncos to beat the Titans
Panthers to beat Wests Tigers

Storm to beat the Raiders

Rugby Union

In the Summer Series I'm going with a win for Ireland @ 4.1 against New Zealand, its a
big ask but they are capable.

I'm staying away from the Australia v England, I would be edging towards England but
anything could happen there.

South Africa v Wales - SA big favourites @ 1.13 V 6.2 to Wales. Given last week result
It might be worth a $1 bet on Wales.

Rugby Union

Firstly - MASSIVE win by Ireland and to take the series win away to NZ was very impressive.

Final score: New Zealand 22 - 32 Ireland

To go to NZ and play a series and come away with a win is probably one of the pinnacles of
any teams expectations, it would be up there with winning a world cup I would say. Ireland have
never done this so its massive for our small country with a small Rugby playing population, Rugby
is arguably 3rd most popular sport here.

@Timelord2067 - TBH I really thought from the first game that England would win down
under but after the narrow loss in the first game I wasnt confident anymore so I didnt
bet on the following 2 games.

South Africa v Wales, I didnt do the $1 bet, luckily because SA brought their top game out.

Rugby League

It was looking like a 3 from 3 for me this round in the Telstra Premiership but STORM,
what is happening?

Panthers just about scrape the won but are only beaten once so far this season, thats impressive.

How (Australian Prime Minister) Anthony Albanese came to back PNG's bold bid to become the NRL's 18th team

By Jack Snape and Natalie Whiting Posted 2h ago

Quote
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Papua New Guinean counterpart James Marape may have been speaking on the sidelines of the Pacific Islands Forum on Thursday.
Key points:

The PNG government wants a team in the NRL
Anthony Albanese gave in-principle support to PNG PM James Marape
The decision is likely to be made by the ARLC in 2025, the 50th anniversary of PNG's independence from Australia

But what they said will be felt across the playing field of the NRL, and regional geopolitics.

At a picture opportunity for media ahead of a bilateral meeting, Mr Marape stated to Mr Albanese — as part of the pleasantries provided for the cameras — that rugby league was part of PNG's national character.

"If there’s something good that Australia has left as far as a lasting imprint in Papua New Guinea, rugby league is one of them," he said.

But Mr Albanese went beyond mere courtesy in reply.

"We have to look at a team eventually in the NRL for PNG, and perhaps from the Pacific as well," he said.

From that article it does sound like a classic. I read a few opinions online before the game
which all fancied a Blues win so I followed what they tipped and went against Queensland..

You're definitely camping in the yard when you come for the Olympics and or the World Cup!

Ha ha!

I might not go at all, there might be a target on me for backing the Blues!

Very well done to you Queenslanders!

That intercept was great but the sprint for the line was even better, looks like the
fastest man on the pitch was in the right position to make that play.

I had Australia and Ireland. On Irelands win again I learned that the win last weekend was
a record breaker! we never beat NZ before this in NZ, we have beaten them in Ireland
and in the USA!

As for the final test in this series I really dont know who to pick from the various games.

Rugby League Australia

I' m going with two bets this week,
Storm ML 0.08mBTC @ 1.43 and Rabbitohs ML 0.09mBTC @ 1.56

In the NRL I had 1 win and 1 loss.

I managed to place bets on the various games less than thirty minutes before kick-off of the Australia Vs England game via a non bitcoin gaming site here in Australia.  I managed to see the last ten minutes of the first half and about twenty-five minutes from kick-off of the second half.  The game was played at Lang Park here in Brisbane and I was looking at little things like the line marking how distinctly different it is from league games.  (the third game of the State of Origin will be played at Lang Park in two days time - have a look at the small differences if you're able to catch the game)

My pics were New Zealand, Wales, Australia, Scotland and France, so three from five - my bets were $1 AUD each "to win" (head-to-head), so no major financial gains or losses, but it's nice have had a couple of wins.

I think we were all surprised with our interested teams results, some good in
the case of New Zealand 12 - Ireland 23, South Africa 12 - 13 Wales,
Australia 17 - 25 England, Argentina 9 - 29 Scotland, Japan 15 - 20 France.
Thats all visiting teams winning their second games.

I totaly thought as was the general cvonsensus here that NZ would win again
to close out the series.

Wales to win away to SA is massive too, again probably an unexpected win.

And England to beat Australia was something I really thought would happen in
te first game and the way some of the pundits were talking England had "a lot"
of work to do to improve for this second game.

Wales on the other hand aren't looking too great. We might let down the Northern Hemisphere teams here honestly. I've thought that the South Africans have had the better of the first half, although I'm not counting my chickens yet. Wales usually do play better the second half. I don't know why that is, I wouldn't say we're more fit than South Africa.

South African wingers definitely scare me though, those are some big boys, who are surprisingly fast when they get the ball. We've done alright. I think the ref has been a little harsh on Welsh offsides, when SA have been basically doing the same, just not on their try line.

I've got Wales to win (4.0), first leg of an accumulator which also has some UFC in it. So, they better pull something out. 3-3 at half time though is pretty good considering how much South Africa has had of the ball. I'm worried about the experienced players coming on in the late game for South Africa though, especially in the scrummage area.

I expect Scotland to lose to Argentina later on for the final test match of the day. I suspect it'll be close, but feel they just haven't got enough to beat them, and quite frankly Argentina are usually underestimated in rugby.
