Rugby Championship: All Blacks star Beauden Barrett cleared of injury, available for selection against South Africa, after sickening mid-air collision

All Blacks star Beauden Barrett is expected to be fit and available for selection for the second test against South Africa this weekend, after escaping injury from his sickening mid-air collision during the first-test loss.

Barrett was taken out by Kurt Lee-Arendse while contesting a high ball during the 26-10 defeat at Mbombela, tumbling headfirst into the Mbombela Stadium turf in a hearts-in-mouth moment.

The Springboks wing was red-carded by referee Angus Gardner for the incident, as Barrett - after laying prone for a few moments - eventually left the field on his own accord, but was immediately replaced.

Coach Ian Foster said Barrett had undergone scans and was cleared of serious injury, but would be monitored closely throughout the week, before any firm decision was made on his availability.

But Barrett has informed Newshub that - much to his own surprise, given the severity of the fall - he's suffered no lingering pain whatsoever in his neck and is ready to go for Sunday's (NZ time) rematch at Johannesburg.

Well i see the last 20 minutes when argentina was ahead and what i see was a lot of fault whistled by the referee and i really dont see any , but i think he was so fussy and charged Argentina with 8 fault in 10 minutes, however the Argentinian narrator says the Pumas was losing the discipline and commited so much fouls , so i think i was 50 % of referee and  50% of the Pumas players.

What a shit end of the game by the PUMAS, a shame, they have the win in their hands ,and they fall apart.

Argentina its playing bad in the last games, i hope we can improve. I only see the final of the game but seems like they have some fatigue.

Ah I didnt realise this competition had started, I actually didnt hear anything about it at all.

So first game down and a fairly big score difference, Argentina 26 - 41 Australia. Reading
a report on PlanetRugby it sounds like the Referee had an infleuence on the outcome with his
poor performance, not sure if the Pumas would have beaten  the Wallabies anyway.

It's definitely a tale of two halves, the lower half of the NRL Ladder for 2022 looks like this at the moment:

As you can see, their favoured betting site no longer offers odds on five of the #NRLbottomsix (Titans, Tigers, Knights, Warriors or Bulldogs) .  It's more than likely either the Raiders or Dragons will take up the top spot at eleventh on the ladder.  In saying that of the three, if the Dragons win this weekend, then the Sea Eagles will be the only one to have lost more time than they have won, so it's still up in the air which of those three will fill eleventh spot.

At the top of the ladder, the #NRLtopSIX is shaping up to be Panthers, Cowboys, Storm, Sharks and Eels taking up five spots with the Rabbitohs, Roosters and Broncos tussling for the sixth spot on the ladder.

I feel the Sharks have been the "quiet achievers" of this season while both the Rabbitohs and Roosters have been more prominent, but are also playing reasonably well from week to week.

I'll wait until the end of the weekend to look at the #NRLmiddle four being two from the (Broncos, Roosters, Rabbitohs) and two from the (Raiders, Sea Eagles, Dragons).  The three most likely of the four are the Broncos, Raiders and Dragons.

We'll know in ~ 36 hours time.

I haven't put money on the grand final (none of the sites I'm on are offering odds as yet).

You'd have to imagine it'll be the Panther's versus one of the current top eight in second to eighth position?

Hmm ROLLBIT had odds on the outright winner for each team but they are not listed
there now? Yea it really is hard to see anyone other than the Panthers winning but yea
its all on the day, key injuries could play a part possibly but I'm guessing the Panthers have
good depth in their team.

I just heard the second half of the Broncos Vs Roosters game on the radio. The Roosters were never in doubt and the commentators forecast the Broncos will slide to seventh place on the ladder by the end of the weekend.

The Roosters have just chalked up their fifth consecutive win too. (One from one  Grin )

Nice one Timelord, good call!

Yea TBH the Roosters have 11 wins 9 losses I expected more of them this season and
I hope the Broncos make it at least into the finals, they deserve it after the turn around
in performance since last year.

There are only 5 rounds including this one left before the finals so these really are the crunch
rounds which really need to be won by those looking at the final 8.

Storm, Eels and Rabbitohs will be cementing their claim to the top 8 going forward, top 3 are
safe enough.

Here in Ireland when I speak for myself I can only assume I speak for a lot of others when
I say I dont factor in the Commonwealth games into my sporting calendar. We left the
commonwealth in 1949 following full independence from England. It isnt even reported
on in most sport bulletins here, so I didnt even know they were happening!

I have to say that was a great call to back the Wests Tigers last weekend @5.92!

I've been so swamped under with stuff this last week I haven't thought to look in on the Commonwealth Games Rugby competition.

I thin the Australian Women's team beat Fiji in their final and the Lionesses won a separate competition, but I need to get a wriggle on and do my research on those two events.

[panthers surely couldnt lose a second game in a row this season?]

From memory, the Panthers have lost to just the Eels, so I'm leaning towards them winning this week.  (Then again, anything is possible as the Tigers proved this week)

RUGBY LEAGUE NRL

For Round 21 I'm going with 4 picks which should all be fairly safe . . . How many times

In the one Qld Cup game I can put a bet on, I'm going with the Tigers, even though I'd like to see the Jet's get up.

Ipswich - Easts Tigers Money Line Easts Tigers @ 1.57 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.079 mBTC

I was able to see the entire game on local TV - East's Tigers (Brisbane) scored two tries that were then answered by the Ipswich Jets (being played on the home field in North Ipswich) with two of their own before the Tigers scored again prior to half time.

The second half was a little more patchy, however the Tigers were always going to win scoring in the last ten minutes to win 32 - 18.

NRL:

The eight winning teams this round were Roosters, Storm, Eels, Raiders, Sharks, Tigers, Bulldogs and the Cowboys in the late game.

Quote
Gold Coast Titans - Canberra Raiders Money Line Canberra Raiders @ 1.41 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.141 mBTC
Cronulla Sharks - South Sydney Rabbitohs Money Line South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 2.05 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.205 mBTC
Brisbane Broncos - Wests Tigers Money Line Wests Tigers @ 5.92 Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.296 mBTC
Newcastle Knights - Canterbury Bulldogs Money Line Canterbury Bulldogs @ 1.42 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.142 mBTC

(I don't seem to be able to place a bet on the Cowboys Vs St. George game either??)

(Three tries by the Cowboys in the last ten minutes helped them win 34 - 8 just now...

Four from five wins on the five games I have bets on.  It would have been seven from nine (including the Qld Cup win) had I been able to get my bets on before the round got underway.

Next week, I'm going for the following teams:

Sydney Roosters - Brisbane Broncos Money Line Sydney Roosters @ 1.66 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.166 mBTC
Melbourne Storm - Gold Coast Titans Money Line Melbourne Storm @ 1.13 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.113 mBTC - (It's tempting to put money on the Titans at six to one given the Storm has had some hit-and-miss games this season)
Manly Sea Eagles - Parramatta Eels Money Line Parramatta Eels @ 1.95 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.195 mBTC
South Sydney Rabbitohs - New Zealand Warriors Money Line South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1.13 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.113 mBTC
Canberra Raiders - Penrith Panthers Money Line Penrith Panthers @ 1.66 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.166 mBTC

And the Eels whup the Panthers, totally unexpected with only 1 loss in 19 games going
into round 20 and the only team to beat them was ... the Eels. If the Eels reach the grand
final that will be a massive psychological advantage.

For todays games I have the Rabbitohs to beat the Sharks against popular opinion @ 2.20
and the Broncos to beat the Wests Tigers @1.09

Aaaand the Rabbihohs nearly pulled it off, it was 14 - 8 to the Sharks at half time and
20 - 20 on the 80 minute mark but the Sharks score the golden point on the 86" minute.

Tonight:  Titans over the ... who am I kidding... Raiders over the Titans... Rabbitohos might just have a surprise win over the Sharks and the Broncos should trounce the West's Tigers... IN SAYING THAT... I've got a dollar on the Tigers at seven to one after their last second loss last week.

aaaand that $1 bet on the Wests Tigers Timelord has paid out after the Tigers tore strips
off the Broncos. 18 - 32! That was a good call, I didnt pay any attention or check what
they did last week.

That and having the Panthers Captain out for five or six weeks for a dangerous throw/tackle will upset their apple cart too.

I've placed bets with a non crypto betting site this round (totally forgot to do it via nitrogenbetting.eu this week)

For the remainder of the season, I'm going with:

Of the first three games, I went with the Roosters over the Sea Eagles (seven players out - it was a walk over) Storm over Auckland on Auckland's home soil and I lost out picking the Pink Panther's over the Eels who were two slippery in their second head-to head clash this year.

Definitely a psychological advantage for the finals.

It was a valiant effort, but in the end, the Roosters won 20 - 10 against the Sea Eagles who slotted seven reservists into the squad for last night's match.

Sea Eagles Daly Cherry-Evans nearly scored what has been dubbed the "Almost Try of the Year".  But that's been the problem with the Sea Eagles all year so far.

The Manly Sea Eagles are set to play the Roosters shortly and yes 7 of the team members
are boycotting and not playing because of the teams move to promote inclusiveness
in the sport.

The 7 players are boycotting the move on religious belief grounds.
https://www.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/12196/12659253/manly-players-to-boycott-nrl-match-over-pride-jersey

The odds on the Roosters are low @ 1.10, there might be better odds if Manly take a lead
early on though.

There's a press conference about to happen in half an hour by the Sea Eagles board over seven of their players refusing to play this week's games against the Roosters.

I'll update when I have more information, but you'd have to imagine the Roosters will be unbackable with ultra low odds.

oh, controversy !
I wonder what this is about?

I have been searching for outright odds on the winner of the NRL and on Rollbit I can
get the Panthers @2.0 and the Cowboys @7.9.

To reach the GRAND FINAL: Panthers 1.39 and Cowboys @3.2.....I kind of banking on
2 teams really based on their ladder position now.
