First time I see a rugby post here, I see that you two are the ones that keep it active, I went in to see if it said something about my country (Argentina) that came out champion of seven.

I know a lot about rugby but only from my country, from abroad I don't know anything so you won't see me betting.

I have - it hasn't happened yet. 


Watching the condensed game, it seems the Sharks capitalised on a Sea Eagles' vulnerability (including the Eagles Captain Daily Cheery-Evans) and went through the gap time and again.  The Sharks defence was lacking which could come back to haunt them in future games.

I thought you were going with a parlay?

First game of the NRL R7 today between The Sharks and Sea Eagles was a bit
remarkable. The Sharks leading 32-0 at the break, only scored 2 points in the
second half and let The Sea Eagles score 22 points, seems like they switched
off in the second half confident that the job was done, strange scoring.

If the Sea Eagles hadnt run out of time it could have been an upset, hard to switch
on with a mindest of job done in the first half.

They have a great chance to beat the visiting Glasgow Warriors, there is very
little between the two sides going by the stats on the table, the two drawn games
didnt help with their points. Dont forget there are 3 rounds left and the top8 go to
the QF's.



All of the South African sides are at home for this round, The Bulls should beat Benetton,
The Lions could have a tough one against Connacht who will be desperately looking to
get into the QF's and The Sharks will have a tough day against leaders Leinster.

United Rugby Championship

It is just unlucky that the Stormers had those two draws, because they deserve a spot in the top 4, but they are playing the Glasgow Warriors in their next match on the 22 of April, so they can push for a top 4 position on the log.. if they can win that one.  

The Bulls and the Sharks are not having a bad season either, so I will not be amazed if they end up somewhere in one of the top 4 spots at the end of the championship.

Just great to see that the South African teams are doing better in this years championship.... so far.

Timelord, it was 10-14 at half time!

The Eels have had a shaky start to the season, losing 2 games and a few narrow wins.
The loss to The Wests Tigers will send a bit of a message to their next opponents The Knights
who are mid ladder that they are very much beatable even at home.

I'll be backing the Eels though!

As regards the finals in the NRL, i agree that is really is unnecessarily drawn out.

Hard to say - I think (from time to time) about how that might be arranged - without a doubt the last placed overall gets relegated and is replaced by the Grand Champion of the State based competition.  The team that was relegated would then have to win the Grand Final the following year to replace the relegated team for their State from the National competition.  In that way NRL relegation would be different from e.g. English Football where there are various divisions tiered across the entire country.

In differing scenarios I'd either have 16, 20 or about 24 teams at the moment with 16 teams I'd retain the convoluted finals system but if it were to expand to 24 teams, I'd just have every team play every other team the once then either first and second play for the grand final, or the top four play each other again - the top two out of the top four then play in a grand final.


I managed to see nearly half of the game - The Wests Tigers played a very ordinary game, with fumbles, but they did play an impressive scrum at one point.

At half time, the Tigers led 20 - 10 then did nothing to build on that score in the second half.  Both teams tried for field goals in the dying minutes of the game but it was the Tiger's field goal that went over to score the winning one point.

it correctly.

A relegation system would be fairer. Yes someone has to fill the last place. It was The Bulldogs
last year who only won 3 games in last place, thats a very poor return.

If the last place or last 3 placed teams got relegated are they good enough that they would
qualify for the national tournament the following year though?

Its the same in the Six Nations here, Italy this season beat Wales, their first win in 7 years, there
have been calls for a relegation system here also and give the likes of Georgia a shot in the Six Nations.

On 42 minutes the Wests Tigers lead The Eels 14-10, the odds on The Eels has gone to 1.26
so I put on an extra 0.1mBTC

If I'm looking at the NRL Ladder stats page correctly, the Eels would climb to 3rd spot on stats behind the Storm who also have ten points leaving the Tigers languishing in 16th spot.

To my way of thinking there should be a relegation system similar to the UK Football model where if you are at the bottom of the table at the end of the season, then you go down a division.  In the case of the Wests' Tigers, they would return to the State Based (New South Wales) competition with the winning team advancing to the National Game.

As it stands, the Wests' Tigers don't care about languishing for a few seasons at the bottom of the table as they are guaranteed to play next season at the national level.

1 from 3 with my bets on the European Rugby Championship. My bets on
Ulster to win at home and Connacht to win against the odds away to powerhouse
Leinster didnt materialise.

The quarter finals are set with 2 Irish sides through, Ulster missed out by 2 points to get
to the QF's, that would have 3 Irish sides, anyway here are the games ahead set for 6, 7
and 8th of May.

5 from 5 or 5 from 6 with the Eels looking to win tomorrow to potentially go 2nd on the table.

Six from seven so far this round with one more game to go - Will the West's Tigers manage to loose yet again?

I'm 4 from 4 with two more matches tomorrow, with a big divide between the top
6 or so teams and the others its becoming easy enough to back the winners.

I thought the game between The Sharks and Storm would be closer and the game
betwen The Sea Eagles and Titans seemed t me to be close enough, I was following
the score on and off during the match.

Four from four this round already with the Sea Eagles winning 26 - 18 over the Titans just now!


I haven't been able to look at today's game plays, but it's becoming pretty clear the higher rung teams are just picking off the lower rung teams on the ladder.

Make that five from five with the Storm with a winning margin double the Sharks score 34 - 18

On reflection similar events in a lot of other sports too like Tennis, a player can
win the first set 6-2 and be beaten 2-6 in the second set.

Looking back at round 4, the Raiders failed to score in the second half against
the Sea Eagles and being in close contention at half time. Same thing happened
in Round 2 against the Cowboys, 8-6 down at half time and failed to score in
after the break.

This has been happening quite a lot of the time over the last couple of years - My wager was based more on the Raiders previous game plays and the Cowboys sure after an awkward start to the year.

Nice! I dont understand how that works, for a team to be able to score points in
the first half of a game and fail to do so in the second half. Anyway that was a hard
lesson for the raiders.

Ulster^home to beat Toulouse @2.44. I'm not sure why Toulouse are favourites away
to Ulster after Ulster beating them in the first leg?

The rest of the odds are not worth taking.

Actually I put a $1 bet on Connacht to beat Leinster^home @13.0. Connacht
obviously are massive under dogs but they have beaten Leinster a few time now, so lets see.
