Russia has a history of killing people and so is USA and German and France and UK - these are superpower who would love testing their missiles and would go to any extend for their pleasure.

As far as I can tell that IS a valid criticism of Russia, and a lot of other countries to an even larger extent (including the one I choose.)  In order to be fair about things I have to factor in a lot about current affairs and legacy.  Openness and freedom of whatever have a lot to do with the confidence that the leaderships have, and that relates to how good a job they are doing in running their countries as well as the threat profile of their adversaries.

For my own purposes I am a lot more interested in 'trajectories' of countries than I am in today's on-the-ground reality.

The 'woke' West under increasingly tight globalist rule is doing a phenomenally poor job running their counties and as such their people are becoming disenchanted and the level of distrust and fear among the installed governmental heads is on the rise.  The fallout is seen in a drastic acceleration of censorship, surveillance, and control methods.

I could see a possibility that with more and more obvious failings of so-called 'Western Liberalism', and Russia's outstanding success economically, militarily, and morally as a result of the Ukraine event, their leadership will have the confidence to further open allow liberties to their people.  Time will tell.  My read is that a decent percentage of Russian people actually would desire and value such liberties.  I have no where near the same confidence in such desires on the part of the Chinese people, for instance.

For my part I choose and intermediate country which allows flexibility (for the wealthy at least) by virtue of inefficiency, corruption, poverty, etc.  I always expected that it could be an intermediate hang-out place to see how things evolve, but would be fine either way.  While I'm here I do my utmost to support the common people as much as possible.

Unfortunately it seems that the country I choose has thrown-in with the U.S. which is bound to fail in far-flung areas like S.E. Asia at least, and probably at home as well.  The previous leadership was probably not totally full of shit in his resistance, but he got pretty beat down by about the time I arrived and resistance had faded before the peeps really saw much of the big picture.

Alas, the global corporate technocrats probably will have the economic resources needed to buy off governments when the USD is no longer useful for that purpose and that's probably the way most 'developing' countries will go.  If at that point one of the more powerful global powers (e.g., Russia) is both livable and standing up to the technocrats, then I'll probably make a switch to there.

Oh, that's easy. Move to Russia if you love it so much. And there you will see what is it like to live without freedom of speech, the very freedom you actually enjoy living in the US.

But you won't move there, will you? You are afraid, as you said it yourself. But don't worry. Your country, the  country that you hate so much, and the very country that has given you the freedom to say and write about your hate, this country united with others will overcome evil, and you will have the opportunity to peacefully play computer games where China teams up with Russia during the WW3.

Sounds to me like an extreme case of xenophobia and nationalism, so yes, that lady is pretty much a Nazi - including the taste for "final solutions" such as killing all the population of Ukraine including the babies. But, you have to take that as old woman's talk. Probably not really educated, probably not having access to any alternative source of information that her own government and probably there when Brezhnev was around.

I forgot to mention: Ukrainian (born in Kamianske, Ukraine), fought in the Red Army, against guess who? The III Reich, the real Nazis. And that was probably something this lady has forgotten. Now the RF government wants to kill their sons, grandsons and his descendants.

Ukraine to RETREAT from Bakhmut following intense Russian offensive

Following an intense Russian offensive, Ukraine is seriously considering retreating from the strategically important city of Bakhmut in the disputed Donetsk People’s Republic.

This is according to Alexander Rodnyansky, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said in an interview with CNN that the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the city have not yet pulled out, but the country’s top brass are considering if the cost of holding Bakhmut “outweighs the benefits.”

But when talking about a potential retreat from Bakhmut, known by the Russians as Artyomovsk, Rodnyansky refuses to call the situation a defeat and instead referred to it as a “strategic pull back.” (Related: German intelligence agency: Ukraine losing HUNDREDS of soldiers daily… the situation is not sustainable.)

“Our military is obviously going to weigh all of the options,” said Rodnyansky. “So far they’ve held the city, but if need be, they will strategically pull back because we’re not going to sacrifice all of our people just for nothing.”

This sentiment is shared by many other top Ukrainian officials. Serhiy Rakhmanin, a member of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), said: “I believe that, sooner or later, we will probably have to leave Bakhmut. There is no sense in holding it at any cost.”

Even Zelensky has admitted that his country could lose the fight in Bakhmut, stating that he would not hold onto Bakhmut at any cost, and that the city was the “most difficult” posting for the country’s soldiers.

“The intensity of fighting is only increasing.”

The Battle for Bakhmut has entered its seventh month as of March 1. Kyiv considers the city extremely valuable as a gateway to a large swathe of the disputed Donbas region.

After numerous units of the Ukrainian army were destroyed in the heavy battles, the Ukrainian garrison in Bakhmut was reinforced by untrained mobilized servicemen, including the elderly and children. I don't know whether you guys know most of the interviews from Putin that are available on Youtube. I find it impressive over and over again how he can blatantly lie, watching straight into the eyes of the interviewer with the most preposterous statements one can imagine.

I just recently saw the interview where he was asked about the commercial flight of Ryanair being forced to land by fighting jets from Belarus, when the journalist Roman Protasevich was immediately captivated with his girlfriend right after the forced landing. Protasevic was then tortured in an extremely awful way, his face was smashed and then heavily made-up and put in front of a camera. There he gave an interview that he regrets everything and made mistakes.

Asked what Putin thinks about it, he answered that as far as he knows the plane wasn't forced to land, it requested an unplanned emergency stop because it was suspected they had a bomb on board or something. The landing had nothing to do with politics, it was only for the safety of the passengers.

The stories he sometimes tells are so absurd that I find myself shaking my head and smiling desperately because there are people who believe those stories.

The stuff he talks about Ukraine would actually be hilarious if there was no war. The war is just too serious.

And finally I get why the propaganda worked for Hitler. If there is only a single radio channel and state controlled media, it is difficult to inform yourself otherwise. But the Russians can't fully restrict the Internet, can they? Technically, aren't the several ways to circumvent access blockings and such? He can't prevent every single VPN from working or how is that possible? Anyway, it is devastating to see how much support he gets from his people. I know that he puts them into prison, kills them, tortures them and whatever else he enjoys. But so many survey results are still deeply concerning. That is one thing I don't understand. Is all of that fake or is the majority of people in Russia still backing him because he tells them that German nazi tanks are on their way towards Moscow?

Russia and Ukraine are a mixture of peoples who are very similar in mental and physical makeup. Their ideologies are similar. Here is the crux of the problem between Ukraine and Russia.

Outside forces of the US and Nato (not the people of those countries) have infiltrated the Ukraine government, to use Ukraine to take over Russia, because they want Russian land and resources and raw materials. The people of all those countries (US, Nato, Ukraine, Russia) don't want war. Those that say they do have been "brainwashed" by the forces of government.

Oust Zelensky out of government, and replace him with a non-warmonger leader, and you will get peace. Because Zelensky has attempted to harm Russia, it might take a little while for the peace to settle in. But it will come... if Ukraine only stops trying to take Russia over... at the behest of the US and Nato.
