A noob looking for a little guidance if you could.

I picked up the ASUS Rx 560 OC Edition and threw it into an old spare PC with intention of learning more about mining and figured it was relatively cheap so if it doesn't work out or I fry the card I am not out too much money. I am using Claymores dual miner and the August edition of the AMD mining drivers on windows 10. Two things that are happening.

1) I run Claymores script and the card spins up to 90°c with the fans at 100% before shutting down about a minute later. I moved the rig to the garage as it's around 0°c and I added an intake case fan blowing directly at it. Card is still averaging 86°c while the interior of the case is hovering around 10°c.  This does not seem right and my guess will burn the card out pretty quickly.

2) Daily average from ethermine.org is around 7MH/s which is about half of what is reported heere on this thread.

So does anyone have any tips, tricks or a stable BIOS update that would help either of these issues (perferrably both)? Also given my noobness what are straps and strat referring to?  I am sure there are more questions I will need to ask but baby steps.

if I get this figured out then I will start to ramp up with a number of cards and an open air rig.

Thanks for any help you can give.

ChunkySoup

https://mining.help/

Ok...so I did pretty much all of that...there are a few things I had already done, I couldn't do or weren't available anymore but man it still ramps up right to 90° and I am getting just under 10MH/s on average. I tried setting the limit on the temp but overdrive Ntool throttled down the fans so much it crashed. The temp in my garage was -3° so I set the min and max of the fans higher and it seems relatively stable but I can't get it to push any higher or be any cooler....sigh...

Try earlier versions of Claymore, some people report better results with older versions on less powerful cards, or try mining a CryptoNight coin, they use less power:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/claymores-cryptonote-amd-gpu-miner-v113-638915
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/genesis-mining-presents-sgminer-gm-now-with-zawawas-gg-updated-17012017-1612329

First off I want to say "Thank you" for your willingness to help. I really do appreciate it. Quick question. As I said beofre this is an old psare machine so this card is running on a PCi-E x16 2.0 slot. Could that be part of the cause? If you use a riser with multiple cards are the 1x slots you are using all PCI-E 3.0 as well?

If that is actually the case then I have to start weighing in the cost of a new rig.

Thanks again.

Load latest AMD drivers and select 'compute' mode, don't know if it's an option for the RX560, but it may be there.

You may need to flash the BIOS to get a better hashrate, have a look here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/srbpolaris-v35-bios-editor-for-amd-rx4xx-and-rx5xx-cards-1882656
If you mod the BIOS you may also need to run this "atikmdag-patcher-1.4.6.zip" https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher

The type of PCI-E slot will make no difference to your mining hashrate. I have used a variety of motherboards, from old to new, and not had any many problems with the hashrates.

So unfortunately no Compute option comes up for the card the way that I have seen it come up for others...even with brand new drivers. I tried the 15.12 drivers Claymore suggests but they wouldn't even recognize the card. I download brand new drivers and did what i could with Wattman. I have to admit I am a little nervous flashing the bios with that tool as it keeps coming up as a virus when I download it. Some of the comments say its ok...some not....I am a little on the fence on that one. Before I tried downloading it I backed up the bios on the card and it came up Baffin.rom so even though I bought an RX 560 it sure looks like a bought a rebadged 460 unless you guys know any different?

As for Bios modding....that is a little too far out of my league. I can post mine if someone would be kind enough to help me.

Hello,

ok i post original bios after to return home from work but you want to post all bios of my card but only one ??

i buy all card in one time and all have same pakage

thanks for you reply

sorry for my english

You should use GPU-Z to check if all of your cards have same memory (hynix, micron, elpida or samsung),
thats all that matters...memory straps are different...only need 1 bios if all 6 cards have same memory type

Hello,

i watch witch gpuz all of my card have micron memory and there is my original bios

http://www100.zippyshare.com/v/Ubo6i4Fq/file.html

with new driver i can take 13,1 with original bios with overclock and this is stable pls can mod my original bios to take more mh

and one more qestion when i flash bios i do this with only one card in same time not more gpu in motherboard ?

I think , rx series for eth is no more profitable. It shows around $2 profit / day, 1080ti is much more valuable now. But We can't find it anywhere in our country or even in Amazon.

Hi guys,
Can you tell me pls, i bought ASUS RX560-O4G-EVO and this card is locked on 896 SP. Exists universal "unlocked" BIOS? Can i download BIOS from previously post for xfx card? Or do I have to have a special bios for my card?

Thank you, Mat and sorry for my english.

I uploaded a unlocked BIOS for your card:

Hello Gents.

I'm thinking to buy 2GB versions of RX 560 for mining new ETH coins without DAG problem like Ubiq, Expanse, Ellaism etc..

So may you advise me one of below vendors please ;

Sapphire RX560 2G D5 PULSE 11267-19-20G - Single Fan
ASUS Radeon RX 560 2GB GDDR5 OC - Dual Fan
Gigabyte AMD RX 560 OC 2GB - Single Fan

I need your advise between that cards..

Thank you
Best Regards

I'd rather pick up some 1050 ti 4gb. So you can mine everything out there.
And if Eth is not fine (its like 14-15 mh/s after oc), you can still mine something else.

Hello,

i have 6x rx 560 4 gb

this type : https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics-Cards/RX560-O4G-EVO/specifications/

i have stable 11,4 mh with standard bios and my qestion is can i have more hs/s with moded bios ?

and is there moded bios for my card ?? if yes pls can you post here link to download

sorry for my english

thanks for you reply

Theres always possibility that there are 2 or more revisions of the same card, or different memory
even for same revision, so its wise to both check all your cards, and also to post original
bios if you want someone to help you

Hey guys.. I picked up a couple Asus Radeon RX 560 4gb Evo Oc edition cards, and am getting about 13Mh/s each just with wattman..

My question is, when I try to mod the bios, the memory only goes to 1500, and apparently there is on 14cus..

Is there anything I can do to get the memory past 2000, or should I just smile with what I've gotten?
If you upload your VBIOS, I can try to unlock the 16 CU´s.

Here is my original bios..

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FYrVYZh47zfT3MVqlPcot4RlTBDJxWZc

I appreciate it man!

Any ideas on ways to get the mem above 1500? Flashing a bios from a similar card by chance?

Here is the modded BIOS:
http://www46.zippyshare.com/v/U8tUsqXA/file.html
Please report the result.

Good luck  Wink

Well, it looks like Windows doesn't like it.. Its not seen in claymore, i've got billions of memory errors, and negative core power according to HWinfo64.. lol

Don't know what went wrong, but I'll reflash the stock one and keep chugging along!

Thanks again man!
I also modded your memory strap before  Grin . That´s the reason why claymore gets crazy ... maybe.
Do you saw the 1024 shaders in GPU-Z or HWInfo ?

This version only has unlocked shaders...maybe it works.
http://www33.zippyshare.com/v/VgaoRzk9/file.html

Good luck  Wink

I'll give that one a shot.. I couldn't get the card to recognize as a 560, just a generic display, so something wasn't happy, but I'll try this one also and let you know

I hope you use the newest AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher to run the modded BIOS:
https://www.monitortests.com/atikmdag-patcher-1.4.6.zip

I did.. but I may not have been giving windows enough time to load the drivers properly.. lol I've been getting very impatient with this rig..As it turns out, building a mining rig from mostly scrap parts, and making it run as fast and as stable as possible is quite a bit more difficult than building most anything else out of scrap parts... hahahaha

I'll give the bios a try again later, now that I've gotten 4 570's running at 28.5, and these 560's running at 11.5 stable for almost 24 hrs.. lets see if I can mess it up later.. hahaha

i have lock to max freqency to 2000mhz can i unlock this ??

thanks a lot for you answear

sorry for my english

I think you have the budget version RX560D with 14cu and the 6000MHz (1500x4) Memory.
Send it back, if you can. It´s important to have fast memory for mining. With this card you can hash 12,5 - 13,5 MHz max.

Hello,

thx for you response i cant send it back :-( but this card is only type to can i buy in my country im from czech republick

ok and what can i do for this to mine 13mh mod bios ?? or can you help me overclock card ??

i have one more problem with msi afterburner and gpu tweark i overclocking only one card i dont know how overclock all

roland thank you for your bios, now my card working on 13-13,5 mh/s. but memory clock still lock at 1950 mhz. my other msi rx 560 4gb is working 15,5 mh/s at 2200mhz. can this card also work at 15 mh/s?
The memory on the budget cards (rx560D) normaly run @1500MHz(specification), 1950 is realy good.
The better cards normaly run @1750(specification) and the best @2000 or 2100 (specification).

But I think with additional cooling of the memory and vrm, it can be faster.

my MSI Aero rx 560 4gb is working 15,8 mh/s at 2250 mhz(memory clock)
