Maybe as a souvenir.  :)Novotny knows what will happen in such a long period of time. Can Bitcoin survive, will it grow, will it become more powerful and equal to fiat currencies? Anyway, it's an interesting thinking, how to leave Bitcoin axa legacy.

If bitcoin really does keep on rising then it would be ideal for this sort of thing,  i think in reality though since I'm not overly confident bitcoin will last that long without being replaced it might just end up being a novelty item to leave.  Thats if there is even a network left by then to send and receive bitcoin.

Yeah, all the technology that exists on the internet will certainly be replaced with the latest technology is far better and far more helpful to everyone's lives. But it also takes quite a long time and requires people who want to replace the position achieved by the bitcoin. It is also very difficult to do when bitcoin became a greater currency and used by everyone

Bitcoin is a long term project. Therefore is makes sense to save small parts over a long horizon. Do you save Bitcoins for your (grand) child or children?

For those who do not have (grand) children (yet), would you save Bitcoin for them if you would have (grand) children?

We both believe that bitcoin is a long term project. Though even if it make sense to save small parts over a long horizon,  i might say as of now, im not saving any for my future grandkids.  This thread made me realized to at least save some for my grandkids.  So I think from now on I will save at least 5% of my Bitcoin for them Cheesy

It is a good idea to try and save Bitcoin for your grand children but the thing is that we do not even know if Bitcoin is going to be around for that long.
I think that it is still better to just leave money for them.

Definitely yes. However I would not limit saving to Bitcoin only. In my view a combination of Bitcoin, precious metals (gold, silver), and maybe some shares of sound, dividend paying companies would be a good approach. If you have a lot of funds to save for your children, you might also consider buying forest properties - but this case depends on the interest and willingness of your children to take care of the property.

The most important thing for making long term investments (like saving for one's children) is making sure that the assets in question are not subject to inflation, have high fungibility, and are not easy to confiscate by governmental extortionists. Any counterparty risk should be minimized, too.

Currently on bitcoin i don't have much income, it is like passive income , currently i am earning few BTC ,and my first priorityis that i need to concentrate on clearing debt  and spending requirement for the current needs,  once i start earning more BTC  then i belive it will be better to save for children Smiley

I never think about that, I'm not a married person and it's still some years for me for married and from your question just for I starting to spend my BTC for investment and that would be a savings for me and my wife soon maybe it's will very usefulness for my children.

I still don't have so many btc that someone could mention to "save them" for my children . I still need some years before i reach that amount of money. and i still need a decade before i get children. but yeah if btc is big at that time as it is now, then of course i will save some for them.

Bitcoin is not an infinite term project, it will day someday, when there will be no more mining and most of the coins will be lost.

And I don't have enough for me, leave something to others is not my high priority now

Of course I would do that. In fact I think I'm kind of doing this already. I don't have grandchildren yet but I know that that time is not far away and I also know that in 25-30 years when they will be grown ups a couple of coins worth $20k each wouldn't hurt.

It can be a good thing but I think that it is way better to make money with Bitcoin and leave cash for them behind.
You will never know what it going to happen with Bitcoin in the future maybe it will disappear.

I have created a paper wallet for each of my family members for this exact purpose. They know where it is stored and they will have access to it, when I am gone. They are also familiar with Bitcoin, and know how to sweep these paper wallets, when and if it is needed in the future.

I dump some coins into these wallets on a monthly basis, as and when I have spare cash to convert. ^smile^
Whereas my wallet is under 4 layers of cascaded encryption (12 layers basically). Oh well. I'm too young to worry about that anyways.

I'm not having any grandchildren anytime soon.

after i read this thread, now im interesting to create new paper wallet for my grand child or children, maybe i will give 1btc for each my grand children..

it's nice idea..

Its nice idea indeed. I wonder what would be the value of bitcoin during our children/grandchildren becomes teenager or even adult? Can we pay for their college education?  As we know, as times goes by, btc value will also increased but at how many percent in 20 to 30 years from now?

it is too soon for me to think about these kind of stuff because i am not yet married even Cheesy but yeah i think it is a cool idea to bury some bitcoin like even a half bitcoin somewhere for a very long time like 50 years from now.
