Donation campaign appears to be a success if anyone was interested. Ryno received well beyond the 10 BTC he needed to develop through November.

Why is ShadowCash crashing so hard?

My omniscient crystal ball says that all of the strong hands have pulled as much SDC off the exchanges that they wish to hold long term. The current exchange volume is simply day traders creating volatility and dropping the price by selling. Should be seeing more and more SDC leaving the exchanges in the next month.

That's where SDC true potential lies IMO....it being a truly untraceable currency.  <---- could have big implications

Interesting point.

So, SDC vs. XMR.
What's the difference and is SDC a potential threat to XMR?
Ignoring the market and the GUI.
Is it simply PoS vs. PoW?

PoS vs. PoW
Codebase is another difference (Bitcoin vs. CryptoNote)
Multisig and Smart Contracts (think OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY)
Public and Private (think of it as CreditCard (leaves trail) and Cash (no real trail))
Shadows Ring Signatures (latest) are almost 50% more efficient ("1-out-of-n Signatures from a Variety of Keys" by Abe, Ohkubo and Suzuki) as the signature is 3+n values vs 2+2n values.
P2P Messaging aka ShadowChat

Potential Threat? of-course and not just XMR but any crypto-currency which provides (whether by cryptographic proof or not) a privacy solution. Healthy competition is good to breed innovation and progress.
Privacy based transactions alone are not going to get you a substantial user-base; users need something else tangible and I genuinely believe a market place which brings together a solution were users can trade, chat and commerce will bridge that gap. Move out of the speculation phase and into some real world uses.
At the end of the day I see no reason why both cannot co-exist and I think we will; some of the chaps I have spoken to over at XMR are genuinely nice guys working on the same privacy goals we are.

PoS is going to be huge. The mad dash for hash is sustainable when you can pay for your equipment within a few months, but once that is over the only people who will be interested in putting that much hash on the network will be those with nefarious intentions. I don't see any coin including BTC being able to survive a pure PoW system in the long term.

XMR vs SDC

The current main differences are the codebases (any improvements made to Bitcoin can be implemented to SDC easier [BIP 32,39,44 as we've just seen implemented], but it also inherits any potential weaknesses), and the consensus protocols (PoW vs PoS). Both coins handle public and private transactions differently aswell. I believe the encrypted chat is unique to Shadow aswell (originally developed by Shadow's devs).

NeosCoin put PGP messaging in the wallet, but I believe SDC is the only one with distributed messaging that obscures even that a message has been sent or received by a user.

edu-online: Hi guys, ShadowMarket development is going really well. We still aim to release v1 this month. We will soon setup a topic on where you can sign up for the v1 alpha testing phase. Meanwhile, check out for regular updates on all of our progress !

How does ShadowMarket compare to BitBay market?
Bitbay is up and running and has secure double deposit, it would be interesting to see what shadowcoin will have as its market.
anonymity for one.

+1

I understand your skepticism based on my prior history with this community. However lets put that behind us. I did what I had to do for various reasons. I am now here to support this project fully and give whatever ideas I can to help support this group. I wish you all good luck. I definitely recognize potential in this project. Keep your heads up and stay focused.

My most sincere apologies,

When will a complete whitepaper be released on the ShadowMarket ?

If a full whitepaper regarding this is already available where can we find this?

- Thank you,
Blazin8888

Probably after the working market is released? Can't say for certain, but I'd rather have the devs working on the integration rather than the explanation.

That's fine by me. As long as a whitepaper will be released when the market is released ?

- Many large vendors may want to review this whitepaper first.

How does ShadowMarket compare to BitBay market?

Cannot say I have looked at it since the whole Bob + Bter fiasco ...
Is there a specification/white-paper etc?

EDIT: Without looking under the hood in detail; it seems to be loosely based on the same concept of using a P2P network (bitmessage in their case and Shadow in ours) to post market ads. Seems to have some kind-of centralized moderation key? .. from what I can tell it does not seem a privacy focused solution. From a transaction point of view their is no ShadowSend equivalent i.e. anonymous transactions etc..

Shadows vision from the outset has been to build a single platform where you can buy, sell, trade and chat all working together in harmony. Privacy is a core focus of the project and building applications such as the Market take this into consideration.
Any particular area of interest?
