what you have heard is not quite right, but ripple is being manipulated by banks, which is I think is troublesome. you can trust ripple but its a big risk which you should ready yourself for the risk that you have to face.That's true. It's not a scam as it has a real team, technology and field of application behind. However, centralization makes it a more risky investment as interested banks can fiddle with it as they wish.
