I'll never understand that mentality, if I am the coach of loosing team I would have 9 players in opponents half for the last 5 minutes no matter what.

agree on this, what is a difference is losing 0:1 or 0:3 in knock-out match, for me, there is no difference, you are out with both results, and did not even try to change anything (hockey power-play without keeper would be my tactics for last few minutes)

why the heck is Cameroon to win @1.04 on bookies? yeah, I get it that they are favorites against Comoros, but @1.04 is really humiliating in this AFCON full of surprises? or host has to be in semi-final according to rules?

Tunisia without most players, and getting into next round, typical AFCON 2022
with Eagles out, Morocco is a step closer to get a title
I gave you all fair warning that I have money riding on this one so it had to finish like this. Superb performance from Iwobi, he needed just 5 minutes to get red card and leave the team struggling. Really expected much more in this one from Nigeria. They never looked ready to risk everything and try to score the goal. I'll never understand that mentality, if I am the coach of loosing team I would have 9 players in opponents half for the last 5 minutes no matter what.

It's halftime and it's still goalless between Nigeria and Tunisia, nothing spectacular about the game yet, but Nigeria are clearly the better side so far with several attempts on goal being made, Tunisia have been well organized defensively as well. Still anyone's game to be honest, I'm taking Nigeria to win @2.28 odds rn.

Burkina Faso and Tunisia in next round, will be a beautiful match to watch (yeah, there is a ton or irony in this one)

Who can confirm that 12 Tunisian players tested positive for Covid19 before the game against Nigeria? I took Nigeria @1.70, and the odds are rapidly decreasing.
i checked twitter real quick and didn't find anything
Tunisia will indeed be missing a couple of players due Covid-19 but I'm not sure about the specific number of players expected to be missing, Wahbi Khazri their captain is amongst the players expected to miss the game..
Tunisia coach and 10 others to miss Nigeria game
hmm, Nigeria @1.82 at the time of writing... it seems like people are not too concerned about this covid outbreak in the team

but i'm not touching it, anything can happen... i dodged a bullet earlier in Burkina faso v Gabon,, the latter with the late goal while being one man down for the last 20 min of regular time... just AFCON things  Grin i keep drifting away from the top spots of the leaderboard 😧

I also missed getting any point from Burkina Faso vs Gabon, it's hard to go with a draw especially with those additional 30 minutes been counted on SuperBRU.

Don't know what you saying about dropping odds? I have them @1.83 on Sportsbet which comes to even better 1.89 with boost.
On our local bookmaker, I had it at 1.70. I believe the odds difference is significant; I needed to play scoredraw on some EPL games, which is not available on Sportbets, so I moved. Having saying that, you made the proper choice in choosing Nigeria.

Sorry igehhh for jinxing Nigeria, I decided to bet big on Nigeria after reading this so I expect them to progress only trough extra time/penalties or loose in regular time. I am in the red for the tournament and this is the game to put me firmly in the green so I can close the tournament with the profit and forget it ever happened Smiley

AFCON is continuing today, don't forget to put in your picks. 5 players still without picks.
picks submitted! Burkina faso and Nigeria to win
i'm still not super confident about placing a ticket here, but Burkina faso moneyline x2.3 looks juicy

I went with Burkina Faso in the first game as well, but I'm tempted with an Under 1.5 goals bet which will be really tricky and as such also contradictory to my pick in the pool.

btw, bit of news for the fixture tomorrow: "Comoros to field outfield player in goal for Afcon last-16 tie vs Cameroon". Source

so yeah, Cameroon to win should be free points for everyone in the pool  Smiley

How better can things actually get for Cameroon, huh ?

My team is Nigeria, and the road to the final is a little bumpy, but given the present form of the other teams in our chain, we have a fair chance of making it there; the only significant obstacles I see are Tunisia and Mali. Senegal, Cape Verde, Malawi, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea are among the other teams that can be easily fucked.
I am rooting for Nigeria now as well. Only they and Cameroon showed that they are ready to play attacking football so they bought my loyalty. Maybe Ivory Coast can go in that sentence as well. I expect all three of them to progress to next round. But I also placed outright on Algeria so what do I know?

In the midfield and attack, the Ivory Coast team is more compact and organized; they play beautiful football, and they are one of my favorite teams. But the biggest surprise of the tournament is Algeria's elimination and Senegal's qualification to the round of 16 with only one goal ( a 90th minute penalty goal in their first game.). If the Super Eagles maintain their focus, they will win the trophy as promised.

Road To The Final

Now consider your outright favorite and tell me if you believe the road to the final is favorable, or if you believe your outright favorite will not make it. If so, explain why, and if you believe your outright favorite has a chance to advance to the final, explain why. You can also make a second choice for those whose outright is out! Cheesy

This is the craziest AFCON I've ever witnessed, Tunisia by the way as well had to settle for a best third placed qualification and will now face Nigeria, regardless of Tunisia mode of qualification, I think it still going to be a tough one for the Super Eagles.

what about Traore rep? they actually have 5 players with Traore surname in Mali, in 22 players Smiley
haven't watch them so far, but they proved to be stable, and finished first in their group, Guinea should not an issue in next round, and Senegal probably after that

as it seems now, Nigeria and Morocco is the closest to final match, what do others think?
Cameroon also has easy road to semi-final, and from that point everything is possible, they just need Roger Milla Smiley

This round was a big disappointment for me. I was able to collect only 7.5 points in 12 games. Even if we were generally bad, LTU_btc and Harkorede showed great performances and got the yellow cap.

Damn man, not a even best third placed team fight.

If you want to be the champion, you have to bat the best, right? This is the type of match in which we must demonstrate that they are capable of defeating even the strongest opponents. Tunisia may not be performing as expected, and if this trend continues against the Super Eagles, they will be humiliated. Although Tunisia is always a difficult opponent to play against, and I'm hoping we can beat them this time..

Quite a number of fascinating matches to look for in the knock stages though, Egypt vs Ivory Coast sure is one, I'd say Cameroon probably got the easiest matchup, but we've seen stranger things happen right ?
With current form, the Ivory Coast has a significant advantage over Egypt, but this is AFCON and anything can happen; we've seen a lot from the group stage, but I'm confident the Ivory Coast and Nigeria will go to the next round.

Okay, Algeria are already down by 2 goals with halftime on the horizon, it's pretty to say they're journey has ended in the tournament, it's funny how the expectations for them increases after each game but what they've done after every game is to attain a new low.
Cape Verde and Malawi qualified to the knockout stage, meanwhile, the defending champions are eliminated...the magic of AFCON, i guess... my condolences to those who had Algeria as Outright Winner in the sportsbet promo, not a single chip from them  Lips sealed

So far Nigeria was by far the best team here, at least from the matches I saw.

agree, but would add Morocco to the list
these two are my favorites to win the tournament, but vouch for Morocco, because they were my choice for a winner before the tournament
have bet on them, but it is not some crazy amount, that I will miss if they lose

on a bottom line, expected more from the whole tournament so far

Are you sure there is no way for both to pass? Don't feel like checking the situation in all groups but as far as I know there should be 4 teams ranked third that go trough. 6 groups give 12 teams and I expect that they need full 16 teams for knockout stage to have some sense. So if Algeria wins they have 4 points and Ivory Coast has 4 points. Seems like it should be enough.

But considering everything we sow in AFCON, maybe they decided to organize knockout stage in some other less usual way Smiley
Yes, there are chances, but it will be a difficult task since they will have to beat Ivory Coast and get up to 4 points, in which case one of them will qualify automatically and the other would qualify as the best losers, as there are four spaces for the best losers. Algeria's only chance is to WIN because they don't have any other options. The Algeria team disappointed me and I want them gone! I'm rooting for Ivory Coast!
Thought so, I agree they played awful and I would want them gone as well except for the fact that they were my outright choice to win the competition  Roll Eyes This way if they win tonight I can at least get one free bet out of it and maybe hope for a while longer that they will start playing proper football.
