Level of AFCON organization is beyond ridiculous. End game on 85th minute, then end it again without adding any extra time, despite 9 substitutions and VAR review. Damn. I don't even talk about two questionable penalties and random red card. I'm not surprised to read that in 2018 this referee was suspended for corruption.
And games of AFCON don't give much joy so far. Another day of classic 1:0 results.

Yeah, and the single goal game consistency continued with even Ivory Coast, despite scoring in the first five minutes, and I even changed my pick from the initially 3-1 I had in the beginning to 2-0.
Ha, got correct one on Ivory Coast, it is just matter of predicting which team will score that one goal at this tournament. I lost some bets in the beginning but now I just place them under 1.5 goals and bank keeps growing. Will be fun to see how long this will last. Did not watch Ivory Coast game since Barca - Real played at the same time but from the stats it seems it was another game without much goal opportunities.

It really was eyesore and hell of a shitshow today to be honest. A big shame at world level and I also read that even the Referee in charge of the Tunisia's game had at some point officiated at World Cup knockout game.

But another single goal game... to make matters worse, I totally forgot to put a bet on sending off and we had one.

I feel bad now for talking up Afcon from the qualifiers. It's not the spectacle we've been expecting at all.

^ You've missed the first final whistle then. lol

I've never seen anything like this before, the ref really blew the final whistle in the 85th min... Shocked and then the final final whistle in 89:46.

Short video here: https://twitter.com/birdiefootball/status/1481279044809211905

Yeah, this was something.. really unseen, to put it gently Grin
First we had that incident and a bit later Mauritania - Gambia game was postponed for almost an hour because it was put on the same stadium as the Tunisia - Mali game. To add a cherry on top, they played the Mauritania national anthem incorrectly 3 times in a row, after which the announcer gave up (I kid you not) and asked the players to sing without the playback.

I mean - I understand that they want us to take the African Cup seriously. But.. how do we do that after all this? And the football is crap as well.

^^^ Damn, finishing work today and then I read about this drama you guys mentioned. I've heard of naughty officiating but this is new -- and I've heard/seen quite a bit in my time. Gotta blame the watchmakers this time huh. But another single goal game... to make matters worse, I totally forgot to put a bet on sending off and we had one.

Twitter's pretty much taking it out on Janny Sikazwe haha. Wonder how many books have a headache on last minute live betting haha.

I have actually seen that but since i was driving and not giving it a lot of attention I thought I have seen it wrong. I guess the ref really had to be somewhere so he tried to end it early and then when it did not pass he managed to last almost till the end Smiley

What an awful sight for CAF and Africa football at large, I really can't imagined what could have transpired but I'm sure the referee has some explanation to do and there should be an official report on it from CAF, perhaps it was the watch handed to him ?

Yet another 1-0 😎

Is there no additional time in AFCON? I just watched parts of the Mali game while driving. There were 2 penalties, red card, numerous VAR checks, 9 substitutions and no additional time. I mean WTF? Are the rules there different? This would be at least 5 minutes of additional time in Europe and probably 7. Result was 1:0 and Mali had red card so it was all to play for. I understand when ref blows the whistle in the 90th minute when result is like 8:0 but this?

At least my theory of only possible results being 0:0, 0:1 and 1:0 still stands even though I picked wrong one for this game.

What a performance front the Super Eagles so far, they've had Egypt defending very deep and their biggest threat Salah being kept at bay, Moses Simon have been the best Nigerian player so far in the game, he's been superb in attack causing at lot of problems for Egypt on the left flank.
Nigeria performed well in yesterday match than Egypt which their coach have a lot of work to do to make his team go far in this tournament. Yes, Moses Simon really performed well for supper eagles in yesterday game that gave Nigeria victory. All their players were well organized in yesterday match that gave Salah not to perform well in the match. Many viewers thought Salah was not in yesterday match because of the way supper eagles was dominated through out the match.

well-deserved win for Nigeria, but Egypt were so poor today, very disappointing...also, another 1-0  Roll Eyes

Yeah, I really couldn't have said it any better. Nigeria could have gone up by more goal tbh. It as though Under 2.5 is the best bet for this tournament regardless the teams playing  Cheesy

anyway, those stats from Algeria earlier today, 19 shots, 8 on target! 👀 superb performance form the Sierra Leone GK,, he's only 22yo, here he is getting a bit emotional after receiving MOTM award https://twitter.com/SaddickAdams/status/1480937531898306561

I watched the game for about 45 minutes or thereabout and I don't think the stats were really as convincing as the way it all happened, most of the attempts on goal while I watched were poor and it wasn't as dominative as the stats would have it.

Under 1.5 goal HT is the most profitable bet, as it has good odds.
Where are you playing that and under witch odds? I checked games today and most I can get is @1.2 and often it is even 1.15 for under 1.5 goals in first half.

I am much rather playing under 1.5 for the whole game, or 0:0 first half, those are what I consider good odds, over 2 and usually even close to 2.2. Just need to get half of them correct to be in the profit.

But whatever it is, Egypt is likely to remain a favorite for me because of the wonderful shape of Salah, I would probably be rooting for Gabon, but I see that Aubameyang (Arsenal) was not even included in the application for the last match.  Cry

I think that Egypt is among the teams that will disappoint the most. Their team is weak in almost all areas, the only good player is Salah and they will find it hard to give him enough chances to score.
It showed in their first game, he barely gets on the ball - which his expected, he simply cannot get enough space because the quality to isolate him is not there in the rest of the team.

Overall we are watching really boring, low quality football and I will not watch it anymore - maybe I switch back on in the semifinals/finals stage.

Even after 11.5 years I still can hear sounds of this beehive in my head. I think fans in South Africa still use. I turned in South African PSL when going through TV channels and I heard that sound.
It was only banned in international competitions.

~snip~
I watched good part of Nigeria game and I am must confess they impressed me. They were the only team willing to attack so far in this tournament. Egypt was horrible though, I have never seen Salah so non existent in a game.
In the Nigerian game, I went against my instincts, I  went for a 2-0 win scoreline at first, but after some stupid rumors at the Super Eagles camp, I went back and changed it to a 1-1 draw. I wish I had locked it before reading those rumors on the site. I only got 1.3 points on pool yesterday, which is the worst I've ever done. The super eagles have the most experienced players in the competition and will most likely win assuming no crucial players are injured. They are football lovers, as evidenced by the large crowds in the stadium.

Under 1.5 goal HT is the most profitable bet, as it has good odds.

Oh and vuvuzela yes. I thought it was so stupid to have it banned. I get it tho it annoys foreign players but can you imagine asking Thai people to stop using the clappers, or Italian/Spanish football to stop using megaphone and drums because it gives foreign players headaches?
I'm aware that the vuvuzela has been banned from international games due to the noise it makes during games, since there have been multiple instances where referee whistles have been rendered ineffective due to vuvuzela noise.

the whole tournament is a shit show so far, remind me why I stopped watching Serbian domestic league
players are not fit, running 90 minutes is probably on players bucket list, but not achieved

TBH, I watched few matches, and could not stand to watch whole match so far (missed Nigeria - Egypt, maybe it was a bit better)

Well guys what can I say Matchday 1 games almost done and I'm rock bottom of this pool. Can't even do well with just 12 people, this is truly not my strong fort, whether I know about the teams or not, I just ca't figure out results. Not even a draw was going through!
Mate, you save me from being last in the pool Cheesy. Your story pretty much applies to me. I don't have good knowledge about African football, it's probably first time when I exotic countries like Comoros or Sierra Leone playing, but I'm struggling in games where favorites play too.

Did I say 12 people? I must have counted wrong because I'm looking now and there are 16 people in this pool. And I am last. I totally got saved by one exact score. icopress is a big boss there 3 exacts, he has learned all about 1-0.

Now if anyone wants to pick draws, just go for 0-0 like suggested above.

I found the wining formula for AFCON, here are 2 basic rules:
*never predict more than one goal in the game, which means only scores available are 0:0, 0:1, 1:0
*if there is a big favorite go for safe 0:0

I feel like we had almost the same amount of penalties as the goals so far.

Vuvuzela was banned after the 2010 South Africa World cup, they were mostly used by the South African fans.

If Nigeria can get another second goal in this second 45mins, i think it will be the end of the game, in terms of attack, the Nigerian team is showing quick pace, in terms of defense, the Nigerian team so far is holding down Salah which was something people never expected since Salah at the moment is on top form for Liverpool. Egypt look to be playing to get a draw at the moment, i sincerely hope Nigeria can hold o. to this slender 1-0 lead. Looking forward to the full time score.
