Are you sure there is no way for both to pass? Don't feel like checking the situation in all groups but as far as I know there should be 4 teams ranked third that go trough. 6 groups give 12 teams and I expect that they need full 16 teams for knockout stage to have some sense. So if Algeria wins they have 4 points and Ivory Coast has 4 points. Seems like it should be enough.

But considering everything we sow in AFCON, maybe they decided to organize knockout stage in some other less usual way Smiley
Yes, there are chances, but it will be a difficult task since they will have to beat Ivory Coast and get up to 4 points, in which case one of them will qualify automatically and the other would qualify as the best losers, as there are four spaces for the best losers. Algeria's only chance is to WIN because they don't have any other options. The Algeria team disappointed me and I want them gone! I'm rooting for Ivory Coast!

Is anyone willing to have a look at Groups E and F? For all of the teams in group E, the only option is to win and qualify, while for the first three teams in group F, the only option is to win and qualify as well. One team from Algeria and the Ivory Coast game must return home today!! Sadly

Moses Simon is surely a stronger contender for player of the tournament, and the claim will further strengthen as much as the team progresses in the tournament.
I agree with you that he needs to push his team even harder to compete for the award and to have some goals linked to his name as well, because these days, awards are largely granted based on goals and assists, and nobody cares about dribbling or chances created.

I couldn't agree any less, now I felt I should have put in a bit more into the outright bet, coming into the tournament I wasn't sure of how the team would fare, but I couldn't have placed the bet on any other team.

Surprised I actually got good points from tonight's matches. Exact score on Egypt, Close on Nigeria. Ultimately doesn't really help me, and the odds were far too low on them for me to add to accas, so I'm just checking it out for the ride. Whomever's got Egypt on the outright Promo will be happy to get the win though! So far not very good for any team unless you picked Nigeria (which I guess you did igehhh?).

Yes, I did it. I got two exact scores today, which moved me from 11th to 5th place; it was a fantastic night for me because it was the first time I got the entire group game correct; if Nigeria progresses as expected, Simon should be named MVP of the tournament. What a performer! With two assists and one goal to his name, he entered the game and changed the outcome. If he continues to play like this, a major club may require his services in the summer. Super Eagles, go!!!

Nigeria to win the AFCON was @10 odds, what a bet!!!

With the kind of results we're seeing, those with less experience profit from their random picks, while those with more expertise pick based on past performance, which isn't helping at all.

who would see Ghana out in group stage, within group that comprise Comoros, indeed

and we have Algeria, that is also close to elimination

nevertheless, I think that Nigeria and Egypt will take their toll today, and leave Sudan and Guinea Bissau without a win on AFCON, will be too much for them to surprise today, although Nigeria does not need a win for nothing

halftime: It has started fairly as expected today, although it's just Egypt leading by a goal, while the score between Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau is still a barren one, but the match has not been any form short of being lively, Nigeria have been ahead to be honest, but Guinea Bissau are also keen not to go down without a fight.

Yeah, guys. I only bet on them on day 1, and then still put a few of them on accas but not serious money. The 0-0 and 1-0 scorelines scared me off, and yes, while they've found a way to score many more goals, the quality is still lacking, and so these games still end up being tight af.

Comoros scoring 3 goals when they couldn't score before. First win at their first appearance? Should have counted on them eh.
Many bet cut yesterday because of the red card was given to Ghana player. Many hope for the game to end 2:2 draw to make a huge amount of money but comoros later put another goal that made the match to end 3:2 for the favour of comoros. Many gamblers were in pain yesterday because the game ended 2:3 that made many to lose their hope.

even if they will, they'll be needing either Gabon to lose or have to wait to see how the result of the games play out, maybe they'll finish as on the best third placed teams.
Ghana has already been eliminated; they boast about having 24 hours of light in Africa, but their road to AFCON was too dark this time. Cheesy You can't go to a tournament with a nasty mindset; they beat up a Gabonese player in the second game and received a red card; yesterday, Ayew fractured the Comoros goalkeeper's hand and received another red card. I'm delighted they're out because they'll blame Nigerians for their troubles sooner or later.

Damn, AFCON continue to amaze me every day. Good that I don't bet much on it. Yeah, maybe our knowledge about African football isn't amazing, but I think that anyon who have some common sense would predict Comoros beating Ghana
I haven't missed an AFCON since 2002, so that's about 20 years of experience. Now look at my position in that pool Cheesy, who ever thought Comoros and Cape Verde would qualify for AFCON? Now the second most successful West African team after Cameroon is out of the tournament, with only 1 point out of a possible 9! With the kind of results we're seeing, those with less experience profit from their random picks, while those with more expertise pick based on past performance, which isn't helping at all.

I can't imagine score from Wednesday game which would surprise me after all these things. Ok, maybe I would raise an eybrow if Sudan will beat Egypt 4:0 or 5:0.
So many unexpected outcomes
4 games in Round 3 and only 2 out of 16 participants in the pool somehow managed to get some points... i have never seen such poor performance in any of the pools in this board 😂😂🤣
I think our performance wouldn't be so bad even if we would participate in rugby or cricket pools Cheesy.

I just checked match results and all I can say is good thing I did not bet on those games Smiley I believe this is so far the worst round in the history of all pools run on bitcointalk. Way to go AFCON, show us how little we know. As it stands I am putting down 4:0 for Sudan and red card for Salah bet builder.

And it won't stop...

Ghana already losing to Comoros, it's barely 5 minutes into the game, and there is no team as desperate as the Ghanaians should be about this match, even if they will, they'll be needing either Gabon to lose or have to wait to see how the result of the games play out, maybe they'll finish as on the best third placed teams.

Wondering now if I should pick a few upsets, Morocco perhaps who doesn't need to win.
This is AFCON and nothing is impossible just follow your instinct and watch.

So many unexpected outcomes, so a team being desperate for a win or not might really not matter in this tournament.

Senegal with another goalless draw, the only goal they have so far this tournament was the penalty from the opening match, even going through to the next round, I think they need to work a lot on their midfield and attack, else that might be the end of the road for them.

Oh, sorry, I forgot you're new. I'm "Sojourner" on Superbru. .....]
Ohhh, I just saw your rank in the pool, now my challenge is to beat you and Trofo since there is no star prize for the winner, Trofo leapfrogged me in the second round, and I'm only a few points behind him now.

You're welcome to beat me, I'm only 12th in the table. These tourneys are always tough to predict (UCL shows that, and we had pools in the last World Cup with similar seeming random outcomes) but if there's one thing I know from history, you never give up until QF/SF!

Yes, you're almost there. I lost about 80% of  points in the second round, dropping from 5th to 11th place, proving that anything is possible in this pool until the finals. The Malawi-Senegal game will not be easy, as we all predicted in the pool. Both teams are looking for a point to improve their chances of qualifying, so I gave Malawi a 1(2:0) handicap to win the game. Hopefully, they don't give up more than they should.

Livecasino, 20% cashback, no fuss payouts.
Well, if Algeria don't win today I didn't even get a single reward from the outright Promo, so it's the worst possible outcome for me. At least I hope to see them get a win today and progress, or it's game over for one of the biggest teams here.

But I guess if they get KO'd they deserve it too. Hate watching a tournament knowing your team has to win to make it worthwhile lol

shit, there is a consensus within my friends to boycott AO, so I will skip betting on it (not that I approve boycott, but do not want to have bad karma)

why?
Well, he is from Serbia and I am quite sure you have heard about Djokovic and AO in the last couple of days even if you are without TV, radio and internet Smiley
ah, it all makes sense now  Grin

yeah Smiley, Trofo explained it everything

regarding topic, interesting results yesterday, two 1:1, and just two close scores in our pool
Morocco could play without any pressure today, and that is closer to goalless draw than 1:0 win to me, Gabon is not that bad and they need a point to secure their position 2
Ghana needs several goals against Comoros, to reach top4 within teams from position 3
