I think Perez is rightly the favorite, however I still think Verstappen has the distance in his armory to pull it right from the start, I have a feeling even from pole Perez will have some incident with (Ferarri lol).

The incident happened last year stemmed from the big mistake Ferrari pit wall made.
And what happened year before that?  Smiley
If it happens once ok, but when it happens more time than it is not coincidence.
Leclerc had to withdraw from the race before the race started in the year before that. And Verstappen won the race who started it in first place. You can win against a car which withdraws from the race before it starts with even a bicycle.  Grin

I think it can happen twice, if it happens three times you have to fire the idiots or the pit crew, most likely the managers though lol

I say twice because shit always happens same things twice before you make a resolve to stop things from happening Wink

Did you guys saw the latest odds for winner of this year Monaco Grand Prix?
Team Red Bull have the biggest advantage in tracks like this and Perez is defending win from last year, that makes him a favorite in my eyes.
He made some tactical mistakes in last race and he needs to come back strong in Monaco, but Ferrari is not without chances for top 3 positions.
I hope something strange wont happen with weather again because Monaco is well known for unpredictable weather conditions.

So Honda struck a partnership deal with Aston Martin to be the latter's engine manufacturer for 2026 and beyond.  A couple of things...  Didn't Honda say they're leaving F1 because they couldn't keep up with the costs then cut their ties with Red Bull?  And what changed their mind and what about the costs?

Hopefully Alonso is still around by then.

Anyway won a bet riding the Celtics with my free bet from Sportsbet.  Lol.  Betting everything on either RBR car to make the fastest lap at 1.90.

Yes i coming to say that, i dont know what Honda its doing, one day they said they leave F1, and the other they say we stay....

About Alonso staying or not.... 2026 its a really long way to go. I think he its gonna be retired by that time, and better for him, i dont want to heard again him saying "GP2 engine"

maybe it is not that always pole position wins the race, but it is that is hard to overtake someone in Monaco, and usually race is pretty boring to watch (separate from nice surroundings)
it is a similar situation with marathon races, where nothing much happening during first hour and a half in the race, or mostly nothing, but you can see some cities from different perspective, or with cycling tours - Tour de France for example, usually just final sprint is interesting stuff, and other parts are mostly looking at environment and nature

Monaco track has been one of F1's classical tracks. But it is very tight because of being a street track and it is very difficult to overtake a driver. As long as teams don't make any mistake the winner of pole position wins the race as well.
I dont think your theory is alwys correct for pole positions, but I agree for other things you said.
Last year pole position didnt win the race, Charles Leclerc had pole position and Perez won the race.
I think it was similar situation in 2021 when Leclerc again had pole position but  Max Verstappen won the race.

I didn't say that the winner of pole position always wins the race in Monaco. I meant that he wins most probably if teams don't make any mistake. When we look at the example you have given, Verstappen started in pole position and won the race because of the damage on Leclerc's car even though Leclerc won pole position in 2021.

The incident happened last year stemmed from the big mistake Ferrari pit wall made.

Can someone explain to me what makes this particular race "boring" compared to the other races?  Smiley

I always said the same with Monaco race, to watch its one of the most boring race in calendar, but for the drivers.... they love Monaco, because its the most similar to a kart race, and they love that because its when you use more skills than ever to drive, passing really close to the barriers everytime.

For Monaco, they should have an Indy500 style of qualifying since there's not that lot of racing  Grin

I think that is the beauty of Monaco in the first place, qualifying decides 90% of the race and this track is really slow compared to other tracks as the max speed goes to 293 Km/h,at least that is what I saw on the last race here last season and at such low speeds the fight between the top teams can be quite entertaining.I am expecting a very focused Fernando Alonso with his Aston Martin here as to get the pole here is very much possible if he makes a perfect lap which he has the capability to do so,which in turn would promise to all of us a beautiful race with Redbull and Ferrari chasing them.May be this most likely won't come true but I believe a lot in Aston Martin and Alonso for this qualifying to make the race beautiful.

Finally we are again in race week,I was expecting impatiently the Imola race as that is a legendary track, very technical so I was expecting a lot of happenings there when I saw the news that made us all F1 fans sad that the GP was cancelled due to flooding last week.I doubt we will see a Monaco race cancelled as this is most of the time a boring race but it is one of the richest places and just a bit of rain would make this race as beautiful as last year,I only hope that Ferrari team management does not screw up the drivers with their not so well thought race strategies.

Damn...  I hope everybody's doing ok over there.  And even if the place isn't in an emergency, if there's going to be a lot of rain, I think it's better not to let the fans waste their time, money and the effort of travelling to the venue just to sit there and get wet with the FIA not allowing the drivers to race.  It happened at Spa I think a couple of years ago and there were also a couple of other races.  Not worth it imho.

Anyway, I guess we're off straight to Monaco.  Verstappen should win it without any shenanigans from Perez.  Grin

It happened exactly last year in Belgium when we were all waiting for the race to start after the FIA delaying and delaying the race for over 4 hours and let Verstappen completel 2 laps and he was awarded the race.I strongly agree with you that in here at Emilia Romagna race was the right decision to cancel it but in several other places where because of the rain we have not raced is because nowadays drivers are puss*es compared to what the drivers used to be in the 1980-2000 era where they have raced in much more dangerous conditions than last year Belgium GP,unfortunately it is FIA and their management which is not doing a great job regarding such cases.

agree, it is a right decision, probably only viable decision at the moment
you can't have race, when people are endangered by floods, and cannot live normal

not sure if it will be possible to have on later date, or season will end-up without this race? nevertheless, let's first see flood situation resolved, and race will have to wait

According to the statement they have shared with us it looks like it is possible for us to see this race again this season. However the calendar is quite tight you know so I don't know if they would like to make it more difficult for drivers and teams both. But one thing is for sure that this isn't a postponement to a near date as it is rather a cancellation.

It is a really unfortunate incident indeed. We have seen so many race tracks under heavy rain conditions but we don't see this kind of emergencies very often. I hope they can solve the issues as soon as possible.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like they're just going to expand the current contract from 2025. to 2026. to mitigate this cancelation.

It has been so for a couple of days now and the weather with flooding in May is not normal at all for a Mediterranean country like Italy and it is indeed an unfortunate event for all of us F1 fans who think of Sunday without F1 race as a really boring Sunday.

There are some things which I call "good complications" and this mean that teams have more time to work on their upgrades which we will most likely see how much each car has improved after the Monaco GP,as in Monaco I think if we have rain is anybody game and even without rain if some of the teams other than Redbull gets the pole position. The real performance upgrade will be seen in a great track like that of Barcelona which I can't wait to see.
