I missed badly the qualy, im so busy so i cant put so much attention into anything. I also dont put my pick in the Superbru.

Well in the end nothing change Verstappen and RedBUll keeps dominating, Ferrari seems like they found something, but you know its Ferrari never trust in them so much.

Yep , Ferrari found a way to improve qualifying times but as soon as the race starts , the cars still lacks pace , performance and a lot more so I think Ferrari is trying to maximize their qualifiers and then try to have a different strategy in race than Mercedes or Aston that could bring them podiums and tomorrow we will see if this strategy will work and Sainz will manage to keep his 3rd position against both of Aston Martin.  Cool

Starting from P15, it'll be a hard race for him once again and when having a look how he has performed recently, I've decided to make a bet because I beleive, RedBull won't be able to get a double podium here:

I think it is quite a sensible bet to make. Perez is really unstable here as well. He seemed way better in the sprint race today though but this is still not changing the fact that he is starting from way back of the grid. It is too difficult for him to climb until reaching podium. Even if they get very close to it I don't think he would comfortably overtake a Ferrari driver.

It will again depend on Ferrari's preparing the right strategies just as they did in Canada. If there is no issue there then both Ferrari drivers seem quite likely to finish on podium.

The sprint race was lovely by the way thanks to wet track. But I'm afraid the track will be dry tomorrow according to weather report.

In my opinion, the odds are very nice because it'll be very difficult for Perez to get a podium here. He's starting from P15 and would need to overtake Russell, Hamilton, Alonso, one Ferrari and a whole bunch of midfielders to get a podium unless no crash happens. Odds are really good in my opinion.

agree here, it is basically odds for Perez not to finish on podium, and it is really good, can't see him overtaking that many cars during the race, he will need 10+ laps just to overtake mid teams, and then will have some non-negliglibe time to recover against top3, or to say 3 driver

1.8 on that is really value bet, maybe it will not pass, but odds should be 1.6 or even lower for NO, 1.8 looks as a gift, or bookies know something that we don't know
Well, it seems like you've analyzed the situation thoroughly and have a clear opinion on Sergio Perez's chances. Betting odds can be quite intriguing, and sometimes they do make you wonder if the bookies know something we don't. But hey, in Formula One, anything can happen, so let's see if Perez surprises us all and makes a miraculous climb up the ranks. In the meantime, enjoy the excitement of the race and may the odds be ever in your favor!!! Wink

Perez can easily get a podium here.

The best strategy for him is to start with the hard tires, wait until is possible, and then when the time comes and the others already did a pit (or a safety car come), change his tires and be aggress to the others.

The wheater will be sun according to google so he just needs to stay on track to be able to recover.

Besides I predicted Perez to take pole position but he couldn't even make it to Q3.  Sad  Many times his lap time was removed due to pushing too hard at the same turns. Red Bull must be running out of patience for him after another failure.
Yes, it's really sad to see Perez having such bad luck again. On his Q2 laps, he has been really quick but why didn't he get a safe lap in to qualify in Q2? He had 3 laps, all of them getting deleted due to track limits, so I would expect him, after getting 2 laps deleted to set a safe lap but no, on all his Q2 laps, he pushed too much in the same corner and got track limits for this.
Verstappen had his first lap deleted as well but Verstappen managed it much better.

Starting from P15, it'll be a hard race for him once again and when having a look how he has performed recently, I've decided to make a bet because I beleive, RedBull won't be able to get a double podium here:

And speaking about good odds: Ferrari both cars podium finish is at @8.00 odds currently. Considering Leclerc and Sainz are starting from 2nd and 3rd position, while only Norris is behind them, who will be blocking traffic for a while, these odds are looking really valuable:

I've not taken the second bet so far, because we all know how Ferrari is struggling sometimes but @8.00 is really interesting odds.
Opinions?

I wonder how will the bookies interpret it,will they raise the odd for Verstappen,I highly doubt it as if I were them I would still give him that 1.39-1.45 that he has had during all these last races.
Sportsbet.io is having a Verstappen race win @1.22  Cheesy
So, bookmakers don't see any real chance for Leclerc to win, unless Verstappen has a mechanical issue or a very bad start.

The upgrade has really worked for Ferrari very much seemingly.  Smiley  Leclerc could have nearly captured pole position from Verstappen's hands. Taking 2nd and 3rd places is still great for Ferrari to reach their targets for this race. Leclerc has surely a chance to be competitive for being the winner. But it is still difficult to say that he can do this during the whole race.

Because Verstappen still hints it shouldn't be forgotten how fast he is. Ferrari will need a solid strategy to be able to improve their chance of beating Verstappen for the victory.

Yup as I told Ferrari got big updates but now it is late for the season.

Also, keep in mind generally Ferrari is quite fast during the qualify and they lose performances during the race.

Ferrari looking strong! This qualifiers proved that Ferrari really improved their car in order to save this season and I'm afraid Max won't be the winner of Sprint Race tomorrow but I do see him as favorite to win the race on Sunday as nothing can beat him and his RedBull on race pace.

Norris , Gasly , Albon and Hulkenberg are the drivers who I'm going to give them + for having consistency in qualifying sessions

Perez is in a down spiral and I do hope he will pick himself up and will ignore what Helmut is saying about him in the media.

DeVries...I still wonder how he ended up in F1 because so far he proved almost nothing. He is fast in the first 3-4-5 laps on every race and after that or after the first pitstop , he will fall in the last positions on the grid and today it was not different even if it was just qualifiers.

Verstappen beats Leclerc by just .048 seconds to claim pole position for Sunday  Shocked

Well,we all hope to see that distance in the race as that can put a big pressure on Verstappen.I wonder how will the bookies interpret it,will they raise the odd for Verstappen,I highly doubt it as if I were them I would still give him that 1.39-1.45 that he has had during all these last races.Ferrari has not shown anything in the last races but we all hope to see something different be it Ferrari,Mercedes,Aston Martin or even McLaren that would be a happily welcomed change, the weather hopefully will not be that stable and it can add some spice to this race of Sunday.

So official qualifying is today?

Yes in 1 hour.
In the 1st hour, we got Max at the top followed by Ferrari and Hamilton.
RBR was quite slow at the start with hard tires and high degradation.

Peres is way far behind.

So official qualifying is today?I was right to put my picks early morning during today as I did not see any data before, not a single Friday practice data seen before I decided so I just got with my instinct and put the top 5 teams from 1st position to 10th position.I know that as long as we don't get any massive rain to make the race a bit more beautiful no one will stop Redbull and Verstappen,Perez is just a puppet to Redbull not able to show any performance and above all 0 consistency,I think he should leave Redbull and some more talented driver should go and replace him, there are a lot of them suffering in less performing teams.

It looks like a big upgrade for Ferrari indeed. Red Bull say that this track is very suitable for Ferrari and they need to be very careful in this race. Because if Leclerc starts in first row to the race then Red Bull are worried about Verstappen's having possible difficulties against him. But it is still too early to make such statement for Ferrari side to be honest.

Because so far Ferrari haven't been the same as the previous season. In that season there was an amazing competition between Leclerc and Verstappen in the Austrian GP. But now Ferrari's car is far from that level. Of course we need to see this upgrade first to see things clearer. We have qualifying and sprint sessions to observe it.  Smiley

The thing with F1 teams is they always sand bag before the practice sessions start.  They tell everyone how fast the other teams are while hiding their real pace.  But by the last minutes of FP3 you usually see who's the fastest and it gets confirmed at quali.  Lol.  It will be Red Bull all the way.  It's the Austrian GP ffs.  :/

I would like to remind everyone of the deadline for EBP on this race week. We still have to make our predictions before the qualifying session starts to get these points although there is a sprint session as well. Because the sprint race doesn't determine the grid. It is only for extra points to be achieved by the drivers.

As a Leclerc fan I would really like to see him having a solid race in Austria once again. The Tifosi are more expectant from Ferrari and especially Leclerc to fight for the win here. If this update on the car helps them get much faster than before it will all be depending on the strategies.

Ferrari impressed me in Canada with the right strategies and they should maintain it here also.

Yup.  Not really a Ferrari fan but I'd like to see some success for Leclerc.  I feel for the guy.  He's a good driver but the team...  It sucks.  Sorry Ferrari fans but it's true.

I'm curious to see whether Ferrari has made good steps, the first practice session is in about an hour and then you should already be able to see a tendency. After the first practice session I will also give my tip to Superbru, by the way Perez is fit for the weekend.

The decisive factor will be the weather, weather forecast according to Bergfex

Tomorrow raining day, Sunday racing looks dry.

We will see, Ferrari did 2 big upgrades for this race too.
They will have a new bottom and a new front wing for the desperate missing grip.

I hope Ferrari has now taken a step forward, but they have promised a lot, but so far they have delivered very little, or when the car has been running well, they have thrown it away through a strategy or pit mistake.

Really difficult to predict who'll be next to Red Bull here (or even beat Red Bull). Sectors 1 and first part of Sector 2 remind of Canada, very long straights. While second part of Sector 2 and Sector 3 more remind of Spain, where we had quite a few high speed corners.

I think the biggest problem could be the unstable weather this week here in Austria, today nice until the evening, tomorrow morning rain for sure, so it will be difficult, but all teams have that problem, and a bit of luck is needed. You also need a lot of engine power on the second straight, because it's uphill (the new Z chicane is only used in MotoGP?).

Another easy day for RB, does that mean a 1-2 finish for them as well though?

Ferrari has been quick in Canada, maybe Ferrari will be able to repeat it here (if Ferrari doesn't screw up their strategy  Tongue)
Mercedes has been strong since a few races, after a double podium in Spain and a Hamilton podium in Canada.
Alonso might be competitive as well.

Possibly, it will boil down to which team will be able to get a good setup of their car as we will only see one FP here.
Temperatures might be very low, not much above 20°, where Ferrari had a good performance recently in Canada.
And rain can be a factor, too. Especially in Austria.  Smiley
