Pinging again because we have games tonight. Valencia are the bookie favorites and they did start well but I keep wondering if we will end up getting scarred if we put our faith on them because last season, they were horrendous overall, only winning 10 games, while bookies kept putting them as favs.

First game is hard to pick though. I guess a draw?
Both are hard to pick, at least for me. Leaning towards the draws for now but will probably change something till the deadline. Waiting for my multi 5 insurance on Sportsbet to reset and then I am searching for some markets. Probably one or both of La liga games are going to the ticket so some research is in the plan for me later today.

Sheesh, I got 2 close scores. And Valencia scoring 3 goals and not letting in any? I thought my 2-0 was also overly ambitious and yet it only got me half the points. That's what I mean about Valencia, they just want to play like this and trick you into thinking they're finally going to do well. Or are they going to maybe? So frustrating:) I have to say well done to tomahawk09 for getting it 3-0!

Quite an impressive way to start the game week for me, I had one exact score and one close prediction (I could have had both exact though)  I just couldn't have foresee Valencia scoring 3 goals, but still 8 games to play for.

Mallorca really held their ground after taking the early lead.

I continue to do so badly in this pool even though it's the league I bet on the most. I guess now I know why I should just not play anymore:)

I had the same notion last season, despite La Liga being my 2nd favorite league after the EPL (due to being Barcelona supporter). However, I think I'm not so familiar with majority of the teams any longer after proper study, I used to rate most teams basically on what I thought they used to be rather than they currently are, I'm speaking of teams like Valencia, Getafe, Bilbao, Villarreal and co.. most of these teams used to be fight for the top 6-8 place, but last season they all struggle a lot and cost me a lot points.

La Liga's my favorite but I guess it is just because I've followed Barca for such a long time. I do know even most of the games been shown on tv was from EPL but I always really liked the Spanish style plus the crowds and those drums at the stadium.

It's different when betting I guess, as you study different things and are less emotional?

You have to watch there games week in week out, so as you could get use to there style of play tactics,if they're good ball possession keepers.
I do watch Athletico Madrid a whole lot, I got to know they're offensive off the ball, possibility of them grabbing a yellow card is likely at anytime.

Don't forget guys, we have Friday games to start so put your picks in early, you're always able to change later so why not?

Hey guys!

Regarding the 0.5 mBTC Free Bet for participating in this pool, Steve hasn't been active on the forum since last week (I'm assuming he's got other matters to attain to).
Please don't fret and thank you all for the patience while we await Steve's return; he's beyond fair when it comes to paying out Free Bets as we all know.
If anyone has any questions going forward re: Free Bets, please send me a PM on the matter.

No problem! I get random freebets in chat in SB quite a lot so I honestly have no complaints and this will be an additional bonus whenever it comes to us. I think they're busy upgrading chat on site too, and everything else looks like it's progressing well so we are very happy here.

@Trofo, I am a Real Madrid guy. Been behind them since I was like 10 years old.  You can add that as my favorite time in the OP  Smiley

It was a pretty good round for me first yellow cap for the season and considering that I missed out on the first game on Friday. I would probably wouldn't get the right prediction more likely I would predicted Betis to win.

Wow congrats you got your first yellow cap even though in reality you missed a game, that's something great, man. But there are also only 2 participants who got points in the match Real Betis - Cadiz and they are rdbase and Harkorede. I also want to congratulate MoSala, because he has collected a high score and it is the highest of two different tournaments also in Serie A and EPL. This was a surprise at the beginning that made me feel more enthusiastic or maybe pessimistic about being able to pursue it. Grin

Levante doesn't stick to my mind as much as Cadiz, who beat both Real and Barca last season in memorable shockers:)

By the way did the 0.5mbtc free bet from joining the pool and the competition have distributed ?because I have been checking since last week on Sportsbet.io and I don’t belleive I got it and since it expires in 48 hours I wouldn't like to miss out on them like I did before in the Copa America pool.

Well done mate! I was very lucky to pull up a little after a really really bad performance, some last minute changes to picks, though that very same tactic has also caused me some worry in the past.

I think Trofo will remind us if they are distributed. I get random free bets sometimes in my account it is always good to check (0.25mbtc usually though).

Didn't Levante took lots of points from Real last season as well? I sort of remember Levante getting better end of bargain against Real recently but can't put my finger to it Smiley

I think that last season Real managed to win, but it is a hot ground for them, and they do not win that often in Levante

interesting fact, Levante is the wind that blows from the east (on Mediterranean coast), so maybe kings from Madrid do not have good results because east wind does not suit them, west wind would be better, nevertheless, I expected Real to win this season, but they failed and game was similar to last season Levante - Barcelona, ended up 3:3 as well, and Barcelona scored lead in first half

I already wanted to post rant how bad I'm doing this round, but late goal from Lamela for Sevilla saved me from lost bet and wrong prediction. So, now I have 4.5 points after 9 games Cool.
But maybe except Real draw with Levante, there were no huge surprises this round. Though, there was mane games without clear favorite, so, it wasn't easy to pick which team to back.

I always have the same problem in the pools, I am good at getting ML predictions but terrible at getting correct scores which results in positions just on the verge of prizes but never good enough for actual prize.

but Bilbao and Villarreal had solid season, if I remember correctly, and Villarreal even won Europa league

nevertheless, last round highlight for me is that Luis Maximiano joined Granada, and I hope that he will take no.1 shirt as first goalkeeper, which will put Granada on low conceiving position this season (something to keep an eye on), it is interesting that Sporting Lisbon gave advantage to Adan, on their goal, and let one of most promising European goalkeepers to leave

last match proved that Levante ground is, as always, a tough ground for Real Madrid, good game, six goals and fifth draw in eigth matches in this round, two more to go today, both leaning to draws

Actually, there was Qatar Foundationband Qatar Airways before Rakuten, so Barca have shirt sponsor for 10 years already. In past most Barcelona players were from academy and club didn't spend so much money on transfers and were able to live without shirt sponsor. But things have changed under Rossel - he changed club business model and started buying stars like Neymar for hindreds of millions. And as we see, such model with terrible management doesn't work and club now in huge debt.

Oh actually you're right, I totally forgot about that. I have a burning memory of Unicef on the shirt for so long I forgot all about that as well but there you go. They started fooling around with money and then the money became a problem. They didn't even need expensive transfers already did so well without all the Galacticos of Real.

Lessons will hopefully be taught to them but I have no hope.

But will Barcelona have a crisis in the next years ? I doubt it honestly. Yea , they might have issues regarding money but their young academy is having some great young talents right now and I'm sure a lot of them will be on Barca 1st team sooner than we expect.

I also do think that this year was the last one with transfers with names and from now one, the academy will slowly take over and don't get me wrong , Barcelona is having a golden youth academy. This will give time for everyone who is involved in club to regroup.

I am actually thinking this crises will be good for Barca in the long run, maybe 5-10 years time frame. Some if not most of the iconic players in Barca have started their processional carriers from Barca youth team. To write some of them from recent history that I remember from top of my head:
Lionel Messi - he came as very short kid (some disease?), nobody believed he could play professional football, there were some treatments involved in his early days
Xavi, Andrés Iniesta - You don't get better midfield duo than this
Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué - proper defenders and dressing room leaders, team captains
Sergio Busquets, Victor Valdés - I don't rate these two as high as before mentioned, but Busquets is still very important part of the squad

If Barca turns to their youths and it seems like it will have to....
