Anyway, stupid Barca. 15 minutes to go and you get a player sent off, and concede to drop 2 points.

Now Real just needs to win both games in hands, and they are only behind us 1 point. Flick was right, we're not favorites yet.
With 20 minutes remaining it looked that Celta isn't capable to make an comeback. But then worst 5 minutes in Bacelona season happened. Actually, I think we should be thankful to referee that we didn't ended with 10 players after 45 minutes. In the end of 1st half Martin fouled on Aspas and I'm not really sure how it's not 2nd yellow card.
Main game of this round is Basque derby between Athletic and Real Sociedad, going to watch it. Real is going to Leganes, don't believe that they will have problems.

I also say this - if a football player from whom an agent receives money loses his health = the agent loses money. This is literally what I'm talking about - a footballer and his parents/agent have one single asset and they treat this asset extremely carelessly. I see rare exceptions - for example Mbappe's mother, who squeezes the maximum amount of money out of the "Mbappe" brand and defends his interests.

This is classic example of that old story about the Goose that laid the Golden eggs.

Unfortunately some people think the goose if you open it has eggs inside. And they want all of it right now. Despite the logic that if you keep the goose alive and healthy it gives you golden eggs the whole lifetime.

It seems to me that the word "kids" is not appropriate here.
Many of them are surrounded by agents and million-dollar contracts even before their professional careers begin. But if they lose their health, no one will need them. I don't understand why they are so lax in protecting their only asset. By the way, if we are not talking about top football players, then for all ordinary football players, even from the top leagues, the loss of health will mean a fall to the level of ordinary people who have to go to work.

Kids has nothing to do with their status, you can be a rich ass prince in Saudi or a poor street rat, you will have the same mentality and maturity if your brain is not developed. Its just scientific fact.

In fact, the street rat is more worldly wise, if you live in a rich bubble of football your choices are even worse from influence of everyone around you.

This is why I say its their agents and parents and coaches who have to be the one to guide them in their youth.

Footballers should just start ignoring garbage games (and maybe even all games under the auspices of FIFA). This is the only way to achieve results, negotiations with officials are useless as long as the officials are getting money. A strike will immediately close the money tap and I am sure a solution will be found as quickly as possible.
In general, I am surprised that professional footballers who have money, serious media influence (plus they have their own trade union) do not care about their health/interests.

Coaches and managers for young kids take his responsibility. Kids are young and dumb and want to play every game to impress their GFs. Flick should be saying Yamal is injured, not ready. Refuse it. Pick up the phone to Fuente and tell him sorry, World Cup maybe, EURO maybe, but fk NL.

Bad news for Barca, Yamal injury worse than we thought. Honestly, I am totally fed up with this. We have a great academy but our young kids are broken before they are even mid 20s. SMH
Young players shouldn't be allowed to play that many games in the season. It is the same story every time, kid starts to perform great for Barca he plays full minutes there than he gets called to Spanish National team and plays full minutes there as well. In Pedri case, poor guy, played first under 21 tournament and than for seniors.

Those kids are still developing and using them that much leaves the consequences. There is also mental component and if they aren't 100% on the ground there is high chance something goes wrong with the lifestyle. And what 17 year old is able to take his that seriously? Hell, Jamal is probably playing football with his mates as well  Grin

Yes and you think after many examples the responsible mature adults should take note. Pedri is a horror story of young talent, and still they treat him fully like a machine, if its broken send for repair and use again to the max.

I remember 20 years ago even Alex Ferguson said Rooney must be taken care of and protected. People didn't see and learn from that? 17 year old, 21 year old, they must be guided, mentally like you said we must expect them to make bad choices if they are too 'free'. I mean lol even Rashford is still partying at his age what more kids.

On the plus side, no more Atletico game in USA. So relieved. And with some rumors going about on FIFA gonna get sued for exerting players too much, this is a good thing.

Bring football back to normal!!

Yeah, I had fears that such thing can happen to Yamal. Barca have so many young talent and it's shame that they didn't learn from Ansu Fati or Pedri stories. Look, Yamal and Cubarsi played most minutes from all U21 players

I think it was a very complicated situation for officials and I can't really blame them for the decision they took even if in my own opinion I feel it was a wrong decision but based on the numerous offside rules that are currently in play and may soon be removed the next season it becomes more confusing to tell when a referee is making the right decision or not and at such you wouldn't know if they should be sanctioned or not.

I agree. Even as a Barca fan and even as I said previously, that the tiny small margins should always be given benefit of doubt to the attacker. It is a tough call to make, but especially if there is doubt, and 50/50, you should actually award the on field referee decision first of all. Remember, all these things are assistants, referee is always the first call, IMO.

But enough about it, lets get on with it. We don't need VAR to cloud our game. Hope Flick keeps his head on and not lose it like Xavi. The goal wouldn't have guaranteed we won or even got 1 point anyway.
I believe Hansi Flick would have gotten over those dramas, he seems like a very gentleman to me and I like the way he handles issue of this sort unlike how the likes of Jose Mourinho, and I know he wouldn't let what happened against Real sociedad affect the psychology of his players and that's why he hasn't issued any negative statements about the referees ever since and am quite impressed with his sense of humour.

Flick has been really good at keeping away from media and drama but even he got drawn into the VAR debate last night. Don't care if he was right or wrong, I hate using VAR as excuse and anyway, we would have not guaranteed won the match even if the decision went different.

An unexpected part of the problem with VAR is that those who analyse the results of VAR can be biased. Have you seen the scandal unfolding now with one of the referees in the Premier League who was caught hate-speaking about Liverpool? Incredible stupidity on his part, but the worst thing is that many wrong decisions made by him based on VAR were immediately found. As always, the human factor adds to the problems.
Take a look https://x.com/The_Forty_Four/status/1855984660146160081?t=Q-7sSl_ehe_ZNH8_cIivJA&s=19
Yeah, I saw these news about referee. But when it comes to offsides, there is no way to be biased as there is now way how you can interpret, especially when you have semi automated offside technology.
That Lewandowski offside when you see replays from different angles and then that 3D replay with Lewa fingers ahead it looks so weird andindeed more similar that it was dedender's leg. Such things can happen when VAR system and cameras isn't calibrated properly before the game.

Well, actually, there is a huge scope for subjective interpretation here. As far as I remember, in the latest edition of the rules, the arm is not taken into account at all when determining offside. "The boundary runs along the lower part of the armpit." Even here, looking at the situation from different angles, it can be interpreted as +-10 centimeters in one direction or another. In the case of legs, where every millimeter is determined objectively, everything is simpler.

Wow, what a read. Can't believe refs would say such things while being recorded. Crazy!

But... Honestly I think its okay to have opinions about who's a cunt and who you hate but of course as a ref you shouldn't be saying those things and isn't it a rule that refs must declare the teams they support and don't support?

For me, I always would rule offside that is like 5 cm difference as positive to the attacker. You can't be ahead of the defender, but if it's fingers or boots or crotch or ears, come on.

I'm a big fan of VAR, but I saw on Twitter today (I don't know if it's true or not) that VAR "added" a defender's boot to Lewandowski's boot, which put him offside. At the same time, Lewandowski's hand was "added" to the defender's hand. This looks very much like neural network hallucinations, are they really used in VAR?

In EPL a few seasons ago I can't remember but shoelace from someone and IIRC Lukaku's crotch was marked by VAR to be offside.

In La Liga, I think the system is semi automated offside, so its different. I have no arguments, but clothing parts and small things like fingers and boots, come on. Lukaku didn't ask to be born with a huge asset, is it his fault?

Norway had to remove VAR for a while because it was so ridiculous.

But anyway. Moving on, Barca better not be too relaxed.
