I had a miserable weekend of predictions in the weekend just gone. If it was a school report I’d have got an E.
Must do better next weekend, must do better.
Somehow the last round was one of my best round and with that excitement I already made my picks for this week LOL
Hopefully I will have another good round.
My goal was to be in the top ten and now since I had it, my new goal is to be in the top five.
I hope I am not expecting too much. 🤪

I hope Gomes makes a full recovery, the pictures & footage of that injury look awful. I wouldn’t wish that kind of injury on any player. Poor guy, he’s going to be out fir a long time.

Yup...  But from the vids I've seen (no slowmo, no close up), it didn't look like it was deliberate.  I've seen worse from Luis Suarez at Ajax...  During practice.  Lmao.

I couldn't find the gif anymore but it was a really nasty two footed tackle from behind hitting the calf area.
I seen this and now feeling this season is already over for Gomes as now its going to take some very long time for back in ground and Son's reaction was also very sad as he was also feeling pain but no one can stop injuries like these its happen we have in our ground some time ago and now life of this person is really awful.

I agree with Hilarious, you don't have to check the legitimacy of every goal even when there's probably nothing not clear at first sight, and moroever the referee should be the only one checking VAR and deciding the call to make. I've seen several occasion where the referee will just listen to VAR team and make the call, which are sometimes wrong, at least IMO.

Yes, I agree with this as well. I do not like how VAR is used in England, we talk more about VAR than we ever talked about refereeing before.
I just said that in this occasion VAR actually confirmed the linesman's decisions.

He's had a successful surgery so it's just about how well he recovers now. I hope there will still be a lot chances to prove his Valencia's performance.  The footage were indeed scary and I wouldn't wish that on my favorite team's fiercest rival.

Var should only be used when called upon. Don't go looking for stuff to disallow the goal as you'll find something half the time. Give the teams three appeals like in tennis. I really doubt they would have used one for that goal, and even then, if it was studied better it probably wouldn't be offside anyway and that really defeats the purpose of VAR when they're getting it wrong. Even footballers who were for var are saying it's ruining the game.

Although I agree that VAR is used horribly in England (it works better everywhere else), in this situation the goal would have been disallowed without VAR as well. The linesman let the Aston Villa goal stand and raised his flag for the Firmino goal. So, in this specific case, we are blaming VAR for wrong calls but the linesmen would have gotten them wrong as well (or at least one of them because I think that the Villa goal was a good call).

Also, I read on some newspaper speculation that is a possible career-ending, I hope they are wrong.
Is there even a full medical report from Everton? Newspapers sure love to exaggerate things. Coleman, his teammate, broke his tibia and fibula (I'd get you a picture but it is extremely graphic) and the guy is still playing in competitive football two years after that horrific injury so, don't believe such "news".
Whatever it is, I mean the newpaper - it is obvious that he will need a long time to recover. I just hope that he gets well soon. It really hurts a lot to see someone going through this kind of situations. I hope son does not take it too personally. It was a part of the game and a big accident.

Did anyone spot the bitcoin signs in the perimeter boards in the Everton vs Spurs game? Pretty cool (can't find a pic tho :/)

Where they for one of the bitcoin sportsbooks? I saw some in a couple of the other games yesterday that mentioned bitcoin in the advert. Think it might have been sportsbet but there was also another. Either way, nice to see bitcoin getting some mainstream promo.

12 minutes of injury time lol. What happened?

There was few long VAR checks and a real bad injury for Andre Gomes. I am quite sure he broke his leg. They didn't show it on replay but it seemed to me on first watching that his foot was turned 90 degrees. Son and Aurier were involved in incident and they both looked like the are on verge of vomiting so it wasn't anything good. Hopefully he will make full recovery.

Yeah, they didn't show or mention it on the highlights I watched, but I was wondering why Son was reacting like he'd just seen someone murdered. Looking at it again it doesn't seem like it was Son's tackle that broke it but the follow up one by another player.

The Yelow Cap is in da house!

Congrats. Think you should be in the top 5 highest round scorers now.

.
Oh shit! Such injuries is the worst part of sport.
I like Son a lot, but this foul was really stupid and not needed, it was obvious that's not going to end well. No surprise that he is getting lot of hate. Obviously he didn't wanted to hurt Gomes, and he was in tears after accident. Unfortunately, such things happens sometimes...

I don't think Son's foul made damage, more are from Aurier's start. Though it doesn't change the fact that its terrible injury.

All leg breaks are possible career ending, but they're usually not. It all depends how they heal. He'll likely be out for this season though.

Son is getting hate because it looked like a revenge tackle for that elbow he received a minute or 2 before. Sure, he did not mean to hurt him and Son really seems like a nice guy but this was reckless and the outcome is horrible. I honestly think it was not even a red card, but really foolish and unnecessary from Son.

The red should probably be rescinded in my opinion. The ref gave the red after he saw the extent of the break and probably assumed Son was responsible.

Yeah VAR's just silly all around. Like Klopp said, we shouldn't be waiting and at the end of the game be able to laugh about it, but to have a goal chalked off because of an armpit offside is plumbing new depths of being silly. Sure, we got another last gasp victory and it will be a huge boost for next week's Super Sunday but it needn't have been like that if EPL just takes a bit more pragmatism to the VAR approach.

@hilarious Dazn looks like it could be nice, but I'd have to sort out that Canadian dedicated VPN first right? $2 per month and how much is Dazn? Would it stream proper thru VPN at 50mbps? I know, it's a bit sucky but my neighbourhood apparently can't do more from cable.

Well you can share mine if I get it. You can have up to five devices so you could use it as well. Dazn is $150 for thew year which is about £80 which is a steal for all the content they offer. I think Sky Sports would cost you that a month in the UK. If you want to split the cost I'd be ok with that. I'm going to try get it set up today so I'll let you know how it goes.

@cryptofrka I remember Carra's broken leg, and I saw Cisse's one live, I remember it was just the smallest toepoke at the back of his calf and it snapped. These things happen in football and as a player too I've been really lucky, seen guys with knee problems. I had 1 bad foot/ankle injury that kept reoccurring because the ankle became weak and to this day when it gets cold the pain creeps back in. Can't imagine how life is for professional players.

I had 2 torn ACL's, both knees. I was never much of a footballer anyway, but the difference in my speed, acceleration, change of direction and overall 'feeling' on the pitch after these surgeries is shocking. I'm 20% of a player I was, meaning I'm utter shit now Grin

But yea, injuries like these do ruin careers. Happened to countless footballers, they come back after ACL surgery and you can just see they have lost too much.

Another bad week for me on the last round, unable to keep may position on the leaderboard better as I'm dropping down a lot this week (out of the top 10 now). I feel that EPL this season is a bit harder to predict than last year  Sad but there are still so many rounds left and there are still many points to grab till the end of the season.
Well done for LFC as always, you are still the best till now IMO as you have more consistency in collecting points every round.

Congrats to bigdaddy as well for getting the yellow cap, you did very well last round. Keep on getting great prediction every round like what you did last round and you may beat all of us   Grin

Yes, players returned from leg breaks before, Carragher broke it and played 10 years at the highest level after it. But more often than not, it ruins careers.
Shaw is struggling, Ramsey never fully got his game back after it, Eduardo da Silva completely lost his.
The unluckiest one I remember was Djibril Cisse who broke both legs on 2 separate occasions - he still played for 10 years after the second one but on a much lower level.

Slava Ukraini!
Can't wait for upcoming Liverpool - City battle next week. It's 6 points game, especially when we look at the table. It can be even decisive in title race if Liverpool will win. As neutral fan probably I should wish City win, but damn, I know how many guys are waiting to see LFC finally winning EPL trophy...

Yep, a leg break. There is a clip on Twitter, it is 90 degrees. Looks truly horrible.
Oh god! I hope he recovers soon. These injuries sometimes really cost the career of a player. Son seems having really negative reaction from the social media. I do not think a player like him deserves this. It's just an accident.
