I don't like the approach Saudi Arabia has gone for with a high line to try and catch Argentina offside and it seems to be working for now, but the problem is this approach seems to have denied Lautaro Martinez from being on the scorecard which is something most are looking forward Smiley Will the assist or goal come for Martinez?

Who’s watching Argentina?

Messi with his first goal already, didn’t take long although it was a penalty. I thought it was a soft pen to be honest but you can’t risk grabbing shirts at set pieces. Saudi coming back into it, still only 1-0 so let’s see what happens. Next goal very important here.
That shirt grabbing seems to be winning teams penalties and everyone should know this by now, remember seeing a similar incident against England yesterday that won Iran a penalty. Btw that Messi goal should have excited many fantasy football managers knowing many own him, lets see what the Argentines can do in the second half.

Messi could have had a double already but another was ruled out due to offside, and Argentina could have been easily up by 6 goals or more just at halftime, the players just needed gotten their run timing right, I really can't believe Argentina are getting themselves so caught up easily with these offside calls, by a fairly inexperienced Saudi Arabian side.

We should be up for some more goals in the second half, I guess right ?

Bale saved me on pool prediction as I was doing really badly up until then, and also saved my sole acca so far. Just need Argentina to score 3 goals and I bring home my first World Cup acca Wink

I can't remember so much time added in all 3 games of day.

Not only that, the match seems to end more than 1 minute more than allocated. Last night 9 mins injury time given, whistle only blown at 10:34.

But I'm not unaccustomed to seeing 10' after 90... it's the first half injury time that's really taken me by surprise. They're giving 5 minutes now per game I see.

I didn’t realise there were 52 of us in the pool this year, that must be a record. Pretty awesome, I suppose the massively generous sponsorship by sportsbet.io helps hey, boys Grin

I’m enjoying it all so far, certainly brightens up a mundane average working week.

+100 I find more and more my discussions and what I look up are the pools and superbru, almost flicking through it all the time, and at half time, and game end. 52 is definitely a lot more than I would have guessed!

I was expecting a 1-0 narrow win from the USA yesterday night in order to get an exact score
I was going with 2 - 1 for USA then changed mind for 1 - 2 to Wales to win. Then finally again sicked to the original one which was 2 -1 for USA but nothing happened LOL. Watching the first half I was pretty sure that USA was going to win but the 2nd half was totally different. Wales took over the entire 2nd half and deserved to score.

Argentina is going to win there are no doubt. Question is how many goal difference we will see LOL

I was expecting a 1-0 narrow win from the USA yesterday night in order to get an exact score and be really near the top of the standings but that late equalizer from Wales leaves me standing near the bottom places, nevertheless without a lot of difference in points to the first place as we only had 4 games so far and we will have 4 today and tomorrow.

For today games I expect like everyone else the easiest of victories from Argentina being at least over 3.5 goals but it can be much more than that when we recall Germany win over Saudia 8-0 in a past event. Also France should win easily but not as easily as Argentina I believe, the other two games are a bit difficult to predict for sure bets like these two.

I can't remember so much time added in all 3 games of day. I read that referees added something like 50 combined in all games.
Didn't had time to post anything during whole day, so I say few words about every game now. England 6:2 Iran. Maybe big England win isn't surprise, but it was difficult to expect so many goals. Also, I think not many expected that Iran will score twice.
Senegal - Netherlands. Until 80 minute Netherlands had 0 shots on target, but they managed to score 2 late goals. It's painful to concede so late, but in general, Netherlands were a bit better.
USA 1:1 Wales. Great game. Gareth Bale like always, showing his class while playing for national team  Cool

I'm curious to see how Denmark will line up - I have them as one of the dark horses.
I see thatthere is plenty of us have Denmark as black horses Smiley. While Mexico - Poland probably can't be called as final for both teams, despite thatthey just start tournament. If we consider that 1st place is reserved for Argentina and Saudi Arabia can't be seriously considered for place in 2nd round. So, it's like fight for 2nd place.

I haven't figured out yet how to reach our pool World Cup prediction pool when logged in and entering the link from hilariousandco's PM all the time is a bit annoying.

I click on any match link shown under 'Upcoming' or 'Live & Result' section on the dashboard:

Damn, I din't try that somehow...  Cheesy
I have clicked everywhere, searched for lists of pools, in my Account settings, just everywhere.
Thanks for pointing out.  Cheesy

I think that when you are logged in through the browser in a desktop and not in a mobile app you just click "Dashboard" and then in the left you click "Tournaments" and there is where you will find all the tournaments that you are part of and all the pools that you have joined.
I've tried that but it doesn't show up there, surprisingly. Only when I select one of the World Cup games (like explained by webtricks), I'm getting to my pools...
It's a bit weird but finally I don't need to enter hilariousandco's link anymore.  Cheesy

Full Time: England 6-2 Iran Cool

I had no doubt England would start their World Cup campaign with a win but didn’t expect it to be this easy. It was one way traffic from the very beginning. There will be much bigger tests ahead but Southgate couldn’t ask for more, very impressive start.

Now we move to Senegal vs Netherlands. I will be keeping my eyes on Van Dijk.

I didn't see the game but two goals conceded from Iran is quite a bitter pill for England even with 6 goals scored.
If someone told me yesterday, Iran will score two goals against England, I wouldn't beleive it.  Cheesy
But as most shots on target have been goals (for England as well), it's somehow justified even if it's lucky for Iran.

Nobody expected England to score 6, not even their most trusted supporters, that is just not the way England plays big competitions. It all went their way today and they couldn't have asked for better start after all the disappointments in Nations League.

agree on this, I am in Footium group with mostly Brits in, and nobody predicted 6:2, from mere 200 entries, two 5:1 and all others more reasonable 3,4:0, with few going for draws
but this is on Iran as well, they are really bad, and USA would be a good test (Wales also seems lousy tonight)

so far, not being good at predictions, expecting more from underdogs, if they cannot show anything on first round, in different climate, they will just slide in other rounds, guessing most zero point squads in WC's lately this time

I actually thought I've over played my hand with going for predicting England 3-0 win, because Iran have been a highly defensive team in most competition even without scoring many goals themselves, they still usually managed to keep the damage minimal when they're on the losing side.

I had 3 close results so far, story of my life. Still, a decent start overall that puts me in 17th place.
No big surprises have happened so far, I don't expect any tomorrow as well. 4 games, will be a fun day.

I'm curious to see how Denmark will line up - I have them as one of the dark horses.

Just 1 close result for me and result in 4 games, I really never imagined I had Qatar to win over Ecuador, and I was very convinced I had it the other way  round, until I checked the pool.

I don't think Denmark are one of the dark horses to be honest, I rate them quite highly, I think I'll have them finish ahead of France in their group, if the match between both of them will be the determining factor, I don't expect them to drop by any standard below what they displayed in the qualifiers.

Except they get Argentina in the next phase, I see them getting to the Quarter finals almost hassle-free.

Cool Bale!  41 Goals with his national team and this is the most important goal of all... a deserved goal ( not precisely because of this football match, because of his career) for one of the best players of this 21st century.

A boring day, of emotion in the last minutes in all the games.

Tomorrow's day... complicated schedule to watch on directo the game Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, but we will do our best to follow the game live as much as possible.  Cool

Why?  #Argentina debuts.

Still, a part of the stuff I read were the allegations of Qatar bribing Ecuador to lose the match, and yet the score is 0-2 with Ecuador winning. Not bad so far, at least the match-fixing allegation didn't get confirmed.
Congrats to everyone who got this one right, and good luck with the future predictions to us all!

You are right, at least the match-fixing allegations have not been confirmed. I'm also curious to see how the tournament develops and whether the fans in Qatar (but also all over the world) will really get into the typical "World Cup spirit". Due to the large amount of criticism before the tournament and the sometimes bizarre rules of the host country, that won't be easy, I guess. But we will see.

In addition, it's pretty obvious that the Qatar team has so far been clearly outclassed by Ecuador. A little surprising, as the Qatar team was highly praised in the run-up to the World Cup.

I just hoped those parties with the initial allegations of matches fixation can finally bury their miserable heads in shame, but their several wrong conceptions and general controversies about every other aspect that surrounds football and it's socialization that are barred way too late and it's almost like a premeditated actions given how close those new restrictions were put in place despite the heavy advertisement.

Netherlands just finished their job with 2:0 win, even if it looks clean on the paper it was anything but easy for them. It was very tight game and Senegal had some good chances. I am prediction Qatar to loose from both of these teams and then Senegal and Ecuador will decide who goes trough.

Am I wrong, or so far, supposedly terrible weather conditions do not manifest themselves in any way and do not prevent the players from showing their best game in any way?

You have to expect England & Netherlands to win but the other game is more difficult to call. USA & Wales are quite evenly matched, I’d imagine. Looking forward to the games today any way Smiley

For England and the Netherlands, I expect two easy wins for the favourites. But you're right, the USA - Wales game is an absolute mystery box. Both teams can win ofc, but it can also be a boring draw. I am quite interested to see how the majority of the participants in our betting game have placed their picks.

It is a pity that there has been another major farce about the captains' one-love binds today. Criticism of the world cup seems to be unrelenting.  Undecided

With all respect to Ecuador, I think that real World Cup starts today. Things what we saw yesterday wasn't World Cup level football.
England vs Iran, I think it's question not about England will win or no, but how many goals they will score. USA - Wales, it's a bit strange that USA is a bit favoured by bookmakers, I think a bit different. Though, don't reall know what to expect from USA.
And Senegal - Netherlands. It's sad that Mane won't play in World Cup, otherwise it would be very interesting game. Now I'm confident about Nethlerlands win.

I also think that England will win but unfortunately it is not going to be that easy as how many goals they score, this game may as well end as 2-0 but most probably there will be more goals,in the world cup appearances that Iran has made they have left me thinking that they are not as bad as we all think about them.

For the USA I agree with the bookmakers, they have made a lot of investments in their MLS,they have bought star players which have help the national players perform better so I expect a win from them tonight, when I compare the two national soccer leagues to me the MLS is stronger than Wales,if Wales had not Bale that would not be up to question if the USA would win.
