You know I did think it was wise to predict draws in the pool... but only Matchday 3 or KO rounds. Seems like teams got so scared after Argentina's loss. 4 scoreless draws, and the latest one 0 shots on goal?

Of course, if I change my picks everyone will start scoring...

In Japan do they have pubs? 😉
Probably a lot more than where you live actually!

I don't think the Saudi Arabia and Japan victories were a disappointment (for everyone except the fans from those countries and the bettors who love multibets).

I loved them. Here's to more... but you know what? There aren't many more big odds in Matchday 2 now haha... everyone including bookies have lowered their expectations Wink

Spain, England met the expectations. But what Argentina started, it's continuing for other big names too. Japan winning against German was one of them. Croatia and Denmark at least did not lose their matches.

I think in Qatar we are going to see more upsets like Saudi Arabia and Japan. The alcoholic nations are suffering. 🤣

Serbia to win 1 - 0 today? 🤣

I don't think the Saudi Arabia and Japan victories were a disappointment (for everyone except the fans from those countries and the bettors who love multibets). The more unexpected the results, the more interesting the tournament - especially here, since the value of the second games in groups for the losing teams increases many times over and turns from a formality (in the case of favorites) into a death match.
Serbia won't win 1-0 today, they will win 2-1, losing 1-0 after the first half (last chance for bettors to make x100 with one bet)  Grin

Ididn't expected that I will see worsse team than Qatar, but Costa Rica says - hold my alcohol-free beer (we're in Qatar, don't forget Cheesy). Maybe Costa Rica isn't best indicator, but it was such pleasure to watch how Spain played today.

It is not impossible for Serbia to win although I doubt this will be the case against Brazil.Brazil is coming here as the huge favorite and sure they have much better players than Serbia, they have many new names who want to affirm themselves to find a place in a major European soccer Championship as the World Cup is a good vitrine to expose such players. The alcoholic nations are suffering is true but in Japan there are a lot of pubs although Japanese nation is not well known for being a nation that loves alcohol.

It's really sad that Canada lost, they played such great game, didn't expected such performance from them at all. I saw them as last team in group, but now I think they have decent chance to reach next round. While Belgium, don't really know what to say about them.
After Germany loss to Japan, I agree that there is big chance that they can be eliminated after group stage. And probably it wouldn't be such big surprise like it was in 2018.

FIFA decided to put big emphasis on in game playing time in this WC. Referees have been instructed to add everything up both on half time whistle and full time whistle while, we are not used to it so that is why it looks a bit strange.

Did you see that they started doing possession tactics differently as well? Now we have team 1 possession and team 2 possession plus another one when ball is out of play or not controlled by any team. Wouldn't be surprised if we see 30 minutes half times in the future but with the clock stopped any time ball is out of the play.
Personally, when I see players lying on pitch like they got serious injury just to waste some time, this is thing in football that I hate most. But now when referess have to count like every every second when ball isn't in play, I'm not sure that I like such decision. It's ok when it's good game, but when score is 5:0 and referee add 7 minutes, I'm not sure about it.
Next step probably would be to stop time when ball isn't in play, like they do in futsal, basketball or hockey.

Very impressive by Spain’s young guns tonight in their first game, 7-0 wow. They’ll have much tougher tests to come but you can only beat what is in front of you. Can’t get much more convincing than a 7-0 win. Germany play Spain next in Group E, after their shock loss to Japan they are in deep trouble. Could be an early exit for the much fancied Germans if they lose to a very impressive Spain.

Spain with this win has a huge goal difference that will mean really a lot in the upcoming matches. After they seen that Germany lost they went full power against Costa Rica and could have scored a couple of more goals,Costa Rica are just lost and dont know even how they ended up at the World cup honestly.

These are the results that "deceive" it is not a big deal, he did his homework, we are talking about Costa Rica! What happens is that the feeling of seeing Argentina lose and then Germany makes us think that Spain played a great game, I repeat, they really did what was expected, there is no surprise.

The match against Germany is the big test to Spain, the truth here is that Japan is now in the numbers! has a very real chance of being first (group E).

Spain Vs Japan is the interesting game of this group, given how things look... just now!.

yeah, for Germany cannot get worse than this, have to win over Spain is not an easy task for any team, and would not be for Germans as well
looking at last championship, they could have an early exit again

and they need a win, even a draw would not be enough, since Japan will probably have easy time against Costarica

first days did not brought much surprises, but last two punch Argentina and Germany, will be an interesting competition after all

I do not think that the Germans will leave the tournament early, despite the defeat they suffered today. The German national team has technical capabilities that can score against the Spanish national team.
We now have one goal against Belgium and I think we will see a hat-trick tonight,

When Argentina played with Saudi Arabia and the referee added half of the stoppage time to stoppage time, I thought that the game would last until Argentina won  Grin

Germany's game against Japan also ended much later than it usually does, so I think this referee will be instructed "right" and continue the trend (especially if Belgium is losing?).

I'm sure this stupidity when an absurd amount of time is added to each half (even 6 minutes is easily added to the first half LOL) is FIFA's mean game to push through the changes they have planned.

Quote
FIFA has begun the first phase of tests to change some rules that would change the game of football. Among the four new proposals, which have already been tested in the Future Cup, are the possibility of unlimited substitutions and throw-ins with the foot, as well as reducing time halves from 45 minutes to 30 minutes.
https://www.besoccer.com/new/fifa-s-proposed-revolution-30-minute-halves-unlimited-substitutions-1019480

Gradually they will push through these changes (I don't believe that they will be "tested" and the decision will be made later, it has already been made) and we will lose football as we know it.

Remember that referee from AFCON who ended game on 85th minute? He is back and will work on Belgium - Canada game. Following new trends of additional time, it's interesting how much time he will add today Cheesy

Asano's 30-minute cameo was world-class today. He singlehandedly led Japan to press more, to attack more, to shoot more. Ultimately he scored the winning goal, although Neuer should have done better there.

Japan is a good team and I was quite surprised to see them perform so badly in the 1st half. Still, I did expect Germany to close the game out, they were way better in the 1st half and should have secured the result before the break.

parlay with Germany is an obvious blow
is this serious, leading 1:0 and lost match, both Argentina and Germany, I can believe one favorite cannot score, and when whole attack conceive from counter-attack, but to lead and lost through conceiving two goals, it is unbelievable, and signal something else, being tired, or I do not know

especially if you are a favorite, lead should not be lost easily

Too many sensations in relation to the number of games played. I wonder if they continue? After all, starting from the second round, the teams will begin to lose the theoretical opportunity to reach the playoffs so it will be a knockout games.

But yeah I expect Belgium win, maybe it's worth to put them on parlay together with Germany.

Again, two days in a row,I think this is the World Cup that everyone will remember as one of the worse, truly worse for all the bettors,I had high hopes Germany to win but they screw it up really big, when I saw the first time stats of the game I was sure Germany would end up winning as the ball possession was 83% and it does not make any logical sense to me how the f they lost the game.

I hope Belgium will win tonight in order to cut off any doubts anyone might have of rigged/let games by the strong teams and let's hope this is truly extreme bad luck for Argentina and Germany which for me is highly suspicious.

Damn, horrible game from Croatia. The result I can stomach, ok - a draw keeps us in the game. But the actual performance was below standard.

We played such a lethargic game, with no risk, no balls and no offensive threat at all. We'll need to up our performance by a lot to be sure we'll win against Canada.

I think that it was also the fault of Morocco who played a stubbornly defensive game and wanted only on sporadic counter attacks to create chances,Morocco was more happy than Croatia with a draw,I had Croatia 0-1 in the pool and I keep missing points here.If you see the stats it showed that Croatia completely dominated the game but they need a bit more of clarity in the ending of their attacks,up to 80 minutes the result for corners was 5-0 for Croatia which shows a completely dominated game which unfortunately did not translate into a victory.

I think after that Argentina upset by Saudi Arabia, it seems all teams are approaching the game more precautiously which isn't what I expected and it looks like our favorites are more defensive minded than attacking which is very disappointing! For goodness' sake we are just in the group stages we need goals... what happens when we get to the knockout stage with what we seeing now, maybe no shot on target & no goals..
All bets from now onwards will be on the underdogs or the draw!

Another 0-0 in the Croatia/Morocco game. That's three so far now in two days.

I never lock my picks but yesterday night did so for the games of today as I wanted to see what everyone else was thinking about the games and I was surprised for the good that not a single person as of yesterday night had predicted a draw or lost game for Belgium. This means that I am assuming it is free money for me if I bet on them at 1.53 so far because I think two big surprises in two consecutive days is highly unlikely to happen and Canada is one of the worse teams of this tournament.

Well everyone went for an Argentina win as well but look what happened to that  Grin. Belgium are obviously the massive favourite's here so I'm surprised they're giving such odds. Maybe stick it in an accumulator with Germany and Spain for todays games. Those are all the strong favourites and I'm sure 99% of people have backed them.
