At this time, even a quality project with an active honest team is hard to keep afloat under the pressure of an unfavorable market. But it is also good for the market, on the example of this ICO dump, we see what is really in demand in the market and what it is not worth investing in.
Investors tend to find that one in a million which will make them rich, that is why they spread funds over lots icos without looking in what they are investing money. It is something like gambling with better odds. Thread looks like clickbait imo.

Firstly, I must say that investing in ICO is a big risk, and one must have that in mind before delving in. To reduce the risk, one ought to do thorough due diligence especially on team, product and token economics. You mentioned buying cheap on exchanges after ICO, not a bad idea but some ICOs ( a few) still do well on exchange.
Unfortunately, today nothing will help you change the structure of a person. People just can not give up their greed no matter what the situation, so I can only say one thing. Greed will ruin us.
Though you are right, but the ICO market is not garbage at all. Remember the 2017 year, when the Golden Era of ICO happened! After then, the crypto market started falling down from February 2018 and it is continuing till now, when it is February 2019! Every crypto coins price is sunk enough, as like ICOs market. Every ICOs are not garbage, recently I have known about hygh tech STO and Vanta ICO, they look great and Vanta ICO raised more than 22 Million USD, they all have some big partners. So, overall, ICO market is not garbage at all, just passing a hard time.
Why should ICO be garbage? ICO is a good opportunity for investments but of course it's up to you to do your own research and decide for a legit project. OP sounds a little bit pissed because he has not done his research and lost a shitload of moneynow blaming 'the market' or someone else for his wrongdoing.

So many people are looking for ways in which they too can make their own profit from a moving market. So if the coin is going uptrend, they might want to join the train, not minding if that highest point is the ATH and that it will plunge. I will not say Bittorrent is a garbage, because it has a working product

Seriously, it's getting frustrating now. Lots of projects springing up daily with no real intent or solution for anything. Most of them are only interested in enriching themselves at the detriment of the investors. It is sad to see people falling prey to most of these shams. The worst part is, they keep doing this unchecked and people keep loosing money.
I do not understand why someone who wants to develop a project can not publicly announce it and look for people who will help him. After all, ICO is just an announcement of ideas and a collection of money for its realization.

Have you ever thought that ISO has exhausted itself? More precisely, I mean that new projects do not make sense, and there are a lot of scammers. It seems to me that CTA has more potential in the future.
People who invested to those trash ICO's is the ones that who never think first before they invest, they just follow the flow of others thoughts and didn't understand at all what it's all about and obviously they are expecting a high return in a short period of time.
We can't stop if someone really want to start do something bad but people tend to learn over time though, ICO had already got a bad picture in the past year so I don't think those scam bastard will get more profit from others people innocence.

Many ICOs hardly want to spend money to list on big exchanges at the end of the ICO. They instead list on low volume exchanges and this in turn usually affect the price of such tokens after listing.
More and more people are getting annoyed with the icos especially due to slow and low last year, most of ico investors from last year are in massive loss and now people want to get rid of all these ico based projects and looking for better alternative and this space may well be filled by security tokens offerings or stos, where the investor becomes a shareholder, part owner and is able to receive profits generating by the project, i think sto model is both more suitable and attractive for investors and next trend seems to be the sto.
I agree, I think an STO model is better suited for retail investors in this space. You're investing into something that isn't just an "idea".
While it might be, there are no instant gains on those, or if there is, there will be significant dumps as well. Real world moves slower and crypto people tends to speculate the marketcap that is 20 years ahead. So naturally they will dump when the price don't hold.

I don't know if the sales id really true I just got into a finish campaign that reached a $2 million soft cap, but after it hit three exchange there are no volumes or buy order on those three exchanges, could be because those exchanges are not popular but 2 million dollars get easily get you into big exchange.
I think that if the market goes even lower, which is more likely, it will naturally be able to clear itself of this large pile of slag. At least I hope so.
