Looks like the controversy riddled Paris Olympics got even more controversial thanks to something crazy that I wasn't aware of. Seems that some Netherlands volleyball player was allowed to play despite getting convicted for rape of a 12 year old girl in the past.

Absolute insanity! Have no idea what brainless Netherlands government and IOC were thinking when they gave this filth such a big opportunity. These people are easily some of the dumbest people on the planet.

This Olympics of Paris where the most awful ones in history and I doubt any other country will manage to top this anytime soon. We had fails in almost every sport , we had a lot of players being unhappy about their conditions of living in Paris for the Olympics and we also had a lot of fans being angry with referee decisions about some sports ( gymnastic and box in general ) but hey , we had a lot of crazy memes out of this Olympics and that was the only good part from it.  Grin

^ It looks like T20 format will be played [1] in Olympics 2028. Also, I'm hearing that England and Scotland will play as single nation "Great Britain".

Is cricket being approved to be included in the next Olympics and even if it does, how many teams would be participating? What format of cricket will be included in Olympics? Due to a shortage of time, I think it should be T20.
By the way, the next Olympics in the US and we recently had a World Cup in the United States, so we already have stadiums there but what will happen in future when the Olympics is hosted in such a country where they have no cricket grounds and infrastructure?
Cricket has already been officially added to the LA 2028 Olympics as I mentioned in my previous posts. I believe the format will be T-20 or T-10 though nothing has been finalized yet based on my research.

Also, the USA will have several great stadiums readied by then which is why this shouldn't be a cause for concern. However, they definitely need to improve their pitch quality though.

What a fun olympics we had this summer!  I always look forward to the olympics.  Sure it's great to bet on, but I also enjoy the competition and some of my favorite sports such as basketball and track and field.

It looks like to close out the Olympics the US and China tied for 1st when it comes to gold medals, both having won 40 a piece. The US won the most medals overall at 126.  I won a few bucks during the olympics but overall was just most happy that my country did so well.  Sad that it's all over now.

It's just two week competition but the atmosphere and the competition. I didn't bet that much on Basketball but for sure we did enjoy watching them as team USA won the gold and then the track as well, wherein records where set and there are very close race.

Same here, our athletes are back home and they are even invited to a gala to met with the President and then awarded those athletes that have won medals here. My country won a record breaking 2 golds so everyone is really very proud of our athletes. Time for Los Angeles to prepare the next one and topple what Paris has to offer to us in terms of grandeur and amazing opening and closing ceremonies.

Really looking forward to Cricket in the LA Olympics 2028 being a big fan of Cricket myself. It's been added after 128 freaking years which is a long time and really odd considering how popular it is globally.

The USA Cricket stadiums are decent at best and need to be upgraded heavily before the Olympics kicks off after 4 years. Let's see what happens.

just in case someone might get confused so I want to clarify some things up, flag football is the one that is included in the 2028 Olympics, not football.
We will have both football and flag gootball in 2028 summer olympics.
crap! I think I misunderstood WatChe. I thought he was talking about american football that's why I mentioned flag football. I'm sorry, my bad. 😂

anyway, yeah, football and flag football will be in the 2028 Olympics.

That is a nice rule that only young players are allowed to play football. Otherwise if they allow all stars to participate, olympic games will be flooded with football fans, leaving rest disciplines without spectators or few of them.
It's FIFA that doesn't allow players over 23 years old (with three exceptions) to participate in olympic games, not IOC. That's because FIFA doesn't want there's a football tournament that can compete with the world cup.

Football is included in Olympics but there is rule that only young players i.e. players with age less then 23 are allowed to play. If cricket is included in upcoming Olympics then is there any such criteria or it's same like ICC tournaments.

Otherwise if they allow all stars to participate, olympic games will be flooded with football fans, leaving rest disciplines without spectators or few of them. It will make Olympic games “Olympic football games and the rest or sport”. I even read somewhere, that Olympic games lose popularity. Fewer and fewer spectators watch sports. Lots of empty seats on the stadiums.

Cricket is a sports that is mostly confined to South Asia and that's prime reason of poor performance of South Asian countries in Olympics. It's high time for South Asian countries to think about focusing on other sports like Athletics, Boxing, swimming etc.

let's also say that cricket is a lesser sport than football, football has always been in the Olympics but also because of its popularity it will also be important for the countries where cricket is so popular, but it must be said that it's much less important!

I agree. Countries like India have huge populations filled with talented individuals who can rival the best in the world if they gain access to proper facilities, but that will probably never happen thanks to their corrupt governments.

No idea. I really don't think they will apply such a rule considering it's making its return after such a long period though we never know.

So, what I am saying it, whoever the Phelps is, he or she gotta train someone to become like him or her, for the fact that he or she is not going to be performing and living for ever, or for an entire generation, it's not possible you know.
So, that the world will have another person like him or her as a replacement for when he or she is gone, he's or she's gonna train someone to become exactly, perfect like him or herself, else, who's gonna carry on with the legacy, he or her legacy?
I don't think he will train someone in the future, but his coach is definitely trying to help various athletes like Leon Marchand etc to try and overtake him, but that might never happen if you ask me.

But it might take time though for someone to come out and then break the record of Phelps in swimming. He had competition during his prime, but as you have said, he is really on another level by himself. And he could be in the discussions as one in the Mt. Rushmore as far as the sports of swimming goes.
Some athletes already broke a couple of his world records, but I don't think anyone will ever overtake him as the most decorated/greatest Olympian of all time. That dude is a supernatural being in my opinion.
Yeah, they could have broken his world records already, but him being the most decorated Olympic medalist, it's really hard to see someone even equaling the medals that he got in the Olympics. If I'm not mistaken, there was a interview of him that says that he didn't missed any training days and probably that's what really separate him from the rest and like the other greatest in any sports, they really have that kind of mentally, it could be their competitiveness and that kind of thinking that no one can beat or overtake them and they will do everything in their power to be the best version of themselves. So it's not just the physically, every athlete can have superior genes and freak, but if you do not have that kind of Mamba mentality, I do not think that you can reach greatness.

For the French basketball team, I think there's a lot of talent in that team and if they continue to nurture the team, they can go on to conquer the world in few years to come.

Indeed.
France have a lot of talented players and they will be top players in NBA from next season too.
I think they will be the strongest team in Europe for several years from now.
Victor Wembanyama is a golden Rookie for Sand Antotnio Spurs.

Yeah, they have the NBA's Rookie of the Year that's why they are very strong, although I think they really need good players the next time around. Not sure if Batum can still play in the next Olympics as he is already old.

But just imagine though a prime Tony Parker with Wemby and Gobert, it might be a very different team and it would really give team USA a very good fight and who knows there could be some upset with that kind of lineup.

Yeah, that Australian break dancer probably set an antirecord when she scored zero points. What Australian Olympic committee was thinking about when they send her? Other athletes train for the games, she just got free tickets to visit France. As well as to flight half of the world to show "that"? She does not value her time. Also, did not she steal someone else quota place to perform on Olympics?

it's a new sport, no one expected such performances, certainly the poor selection meant that these poor impressions spread within the sporting event but it must be said that being an immature and new sport, the first performances must be taken with a pinch of salt

If it was in a random country, I would say that it might have one parent in charge or bribed the one in charge of the players being sent abroad to humiliate their nation for a free vacation abroad.
Media whether social media or even TV news and shows didn't stop talking about her movements and mocking her new "style".
This new sport will not be played in 2028 Los Angeles from what I heard, so no new embarrassment from their side Roll Eyes

That's right. In terms of everything, they're both into competition and this is how it goes then. With the election coming for the USA, we might see something different then about global trade, who knows.
But then, we see how these countries are having a different way of giving honor to their motherlands. I think those Olympians that are good with their sports should migrate and move to Singapore and have that greater privilege and greater reward for bringing them a medal.  Tongue

Yeah kind of ironic both ended up with the same amount of gold medals.  I see a lot of people cryoling about the amount of ping pong or diving events but there are just as much running and swimming events.  All in all it's the Olympics and for me it's great to watch the top of all athletes in each respective sport.  No politics no nothing just go out and let the best of the best play out.  Was a great Olympics to watch.
I agree, these are all good athletes and just enjoying their chosen sports and showing the passion they've chose to everyone through this competition.
To be honest, these athletes like each other and have mad respect to each of the crafts that they've built through these sports and careers that they are in that made them do a lot of trainings.
It's just that their governments are the ones that are dividing them but even so, if it's about Olympics it is about these athletes get together and compete for their glory.

What? Curry was amazing, in the last 2 games, incredible anyway...
The tally probably is for all of the games that have been made and the scores that each player made. But I guess that Lebron got all of the most points, I haven't seen the record yet but that's probably what it is.

It wasn't a point thing but rather a leadership thing.  Yes steph had 36 points in the semi final game but lebron had a triple double.  Tough to do in a r0 minute game vs a 48 minute nba game.  Lebron had to clean the boards score when it was important and feed every US player to make sure they were getting involved.  For some weird reason lebron hmgets a lot of hate but one thing for certain he guided this team to gold.  For that I agree dude deserved the mvp here.
His consistency as well, well deserved and I agree that he's a good leader for the team for which what they need to have every time they'll have their Olympic matches.

To be honest, this Olympics caused more negative emotions than positive ones, not only because of the performance of individual athletes, but also because of the organization of the whole event. Sometimes it seemed to me that I was not watching the world's largest sporting event, but some kind of freak show.
I feel you but for the sake of my favorite sports, they have to be watched still and ignore those negativity. But I hope that the organization will do better on LA.

The fact that this Australian performancer took someone quota and her attendance was paid from taxes really disappoints me. I would also wish that my country would buy me tickets to Olympic games and pay my vacation in Paris for 2-3 weeks. I really cant believe that in Australia, there were no real break dancers and she had to perform.
seems like there were a lot of them but weren't picked because the selection was rigged, at least according to the rumors. there are talks going around that "Raygun"(the female Australian breakdancer) created the committee that will pick the athlete to compete in the breakdancing Olympics, some people found out(allegedly) that her husband is also part of the committee that will pick the athlete to compete in the Olympics. I am not sure how legitimate these claims are but I am certain there are better female break dancers than her.

Anyhow quite funny, Philip Kim and Ami Yuasa will be the only two with a gold medal in the sports for at least a  decade, much like undisputed champions   Grin
true, ahaha. anyway, these two were amazing and definitely deserved the medals they got.
