Is anyone really surprised that Imane managed to win the QF, SF and the final by literally not conceding a single point to her/his opponents? One of the most undeserving Olympic gold winners ever and the IOC should be ashamed of themselves.

Unites States are now head to head with China with 33 gold medal, it will be a race until the final day.
USA already have the most medals and I am expecting them to comfortably win more golds when compared to China overall. The only time China overtook USA was during the 2008 Beijing edition and I guess we all know why.

Serbia played superiorly from start to finish, defeating Germany 93-83 and winning the bronze medal.
Serbia closed the first half of the match ahead 46-38.
Germany could not show much presence. Especially since Dennis Schröder's expected scoring contribution did not come, defeat was inevitable with a 10-point difference.

Is anyone curious about BREAKING?
Nope. Tbh, I don't even know how the hell that ended up at olympics while we are still missing sports like bowling, karate, rugby, cricket etc.
my guess is while it requires athleticism which is a must-have in Olympic games it is much easier to organize compared to rugby or cricket which would require their own stadium(I assume). As for karate and bowling, I am not really sure. also, I remember someone posting here that breaking was first introduced at the Youth Olympics in 2018 and from what I remember(I am not certain) the event was a huge success.

Today will be a big day too with the final for the Gold medal between France and united States for the Basketball.

By the way I've just see that Break Dance is at the Olympics? I mean is that even a sport? Why not Tango or Walzer?  Huh

Lol, for sure when we are growing up at least kids in the 80's knows about a thing or two about breaking.  Grin.
That's the thing, I am old enough (40+) to remember breakdance expansion but I had no idea that was still the thing and so popular that it ended up in the Olympics. And I always considered it a style of street dance and not sport, hence my surprise.  Tongue

Dunno, but I would rather see dodgeball and/or tug of war than that.  Grin

After experiencing bronze and silver medals, finally the day has come and Arshad Nadeem also experienced the gold medal. I think there was the luck of Neeraj Chopra as he threw just one good shot and that was extremely well which was not broke to any other player except Arshad Nadeem.

Anderson Peters who is from Kenya is on the third position, he was just one meter below otherwise he could break the record of Neeraj Chopra. However, he also got a nice position. By the way, except for Pakistan and Indian players and Anderson Peters, there was no chance for any other one to win this game from the start.

Positions
1- Arshad Nadeem
2- Neeraj Chopra
3- Anderson Peters

Arshad Nadeem was 5th in Tokyo Olympics with a throw of 84.62m and Neeraj Chopra got gold medal by covering a distance of 87.58m. Arshad Nadeem was the only one with whom Pakistan has hopes of bringing a medal and he did it. Arshad made Olympics record by throwing Javelin up to 92.97m. He dominated the Javelin throw final by crossing 90m twice. It was first time in 8 years that Arshad Nadeem was able to cross Neeraj Chopra.

Nope.  Tongue  Tbh, I don't even know how the hell that ended up at olympics while we are still missing sports like bowling, karate, rugby, cricket etc.

Also, I wonder what kind of genius scheduled the basketball match for the bronze medal (Serbia vs. Germany) at 9 AM GMT, lol, especially since the final is at 7:30 PM. It's not like they don't have enough time to schedule it at a more reasonable hour.

Lol, for sure when we are growing up at least kids in the 80's knows about a thing or two about breaking.  Grin.

For those who are not aware of, there was bowling already in 1988 in Seoul Olympics but it was just a demonstration sports, and the Philippines very own Arianne Cerdeña won the gold (and it could be the Philippines first gold medal that time).

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/sports/othersports/796990/arianne-cerdena-filipina-gold-medalist-at-1988-olympics-salutes-hidilyn-diaz/story/

But not sure why it is not considered as a sports the following Olympics.

It was a very open and entertaining finals, end to end football, with both teams showing intent to win. France the host country did well to get back equal with Spain in the second half, and Spain totally deserve to win because they did not allow themselves to sink under the pressure that France put on them and were able to comport themselves to score more goals in the extra time to get the advantage to win the game before the game got to penalties. Fermín López was a key player for Spain, they almost lost the game substituting him out, Hansi Flick will be happy he has such a talent for next season.
It was great final to watch. Francestarted game in terrible way, these 2 goals that they conceded, there was no defense simply. And I think that referees helped for hosts - thatwas very cheap penalty that led game to extra time. But in extra time Spain proved that they're best. Their goalkeeper made amazing assist - very long throw and perfect Spain transition that ended  with a goal.
Now we will have women football final between Brazil and USA, should be great game.

The final match was really exciting. France was completely caught off guard in the first half. They thought that the 1 goal they got first, could give them the upper hand, but it turned out that Spain actually made a surprise by responding with 3 goals in a row. France was able to improve their performance in the second half and equalized the score at 3-3. Actually, if France could play a little more calmly in the second half, they could have scored another goal. Maybe because they were behind by a goal from Spain, that's what made them quite depressed.

My country Indonesia has won 2 gold medals from men's speed climbing and men's 73kg weightlifting, and for Indonesia that is the first Olympic golds outside Badminton.
Also we might still be able to add one more gold from the women's weightlifting 81kg tomorrow.
I really didn't expect that the gold medals would come from this sports, because I know that athletes who are not from popular sports here don't get enough attention and support from the government.

Most of Indonesia Badminton athlete was playing under perform and they have been eliminate on early stages this is dissapointing indeed because Indonesia targetting gold medal from this sport but luckily Indonesia at least still gets bronze medal from Gregoria Mariska Tunjung which is where the medal tradition from badminton is still can be achieved

Talking about Indonesia chances to gets more medal indeed they still have 1 more athlete who fight at women's weightlifting Nurul Akmal but she has tough opponents in this category because there is defending champion Li Wenwen and young athlete Park Hye-jeon from Korea so she have to working hard to beat these athlete if want to gets gold medal

A touching moment after a bit of back and forth arguing during the Canada vs Brazil women’s volleyball game. The DJ put on Imagine and the crowd started singing along as a way to calm tempers before restarting the match. Honestly, seeing the moods change because of some music is the most positive clip I’ve seen from the Olympics so far.

https://x.com/olympicscontext/status/1822059171845697808
they just displayed what true sportsmanship is, allow it to get heated when the need arise but don't allow it get to personal. Though they had already calmed thier nerves a little bit down before the DJ melted the whole scenario down and the crowd joining along made it more refreshing and rewarding to watch.

One thing I love about the Olympics is that it's an embodiment of unity, love and peace and they've tried in any little way possible to display that sort of conduct and show of positive attitude in most of the games. Another incident that wowed me was in a circling contest when the Germany team borrowed his cyclist to a fellow competitor just because he didn't have it. These are the level of sportsmanship and professionalism we want to see more from athletes.

How about the USA women's team winning the 100 m x 4 relay?

Sha’carri Richardson won her first Olympic Medal, she was Silver in her favorite event of 100 m as she was beaten by Julien Alfred. But now you can't deny this girl, you can see the dog in here. She even glance (no disrespect), to his opponent and see where she at.

Gabby Thomas, now double Golds, as she won in the 200 m. And they have won this event for the first time since 2016.

Deserving for the USA to win the golds in the relay, and if I'm not mistaken, they are the favorite to win here. Although Richardson have to comeback from 3rd or 4th position because the baton changing in not that perfect.

But being the anchor and the silver medalist in the 100 meters, she just came in flying and even look at her closest competitor. Team Jamaica though is out and some of their ladies are injured in this Olympics so USA will have to take the crown.

India got the first silver so far in this edition, with Neeraj Chopra coming second in the men's javellin throw. During 2020 Tokyo he managed to win gold medal in the same discipline, but this time Pakistani Athlete Arshad Nadeem managed to defeat him fair and square. Arshad's second throw measured 92.97 meters, and it was the new Olympic record. Neeraj scored the season best (SB) of 89.45, but then it was 3 meters behind Arshad Nadeem's final score. Anyway, Indians are celebrating although they are slightly disappointed that he didn't won the gold medal.

Yesterday, there was the final match has played of Jevelin Throw in Olympics game 2024. In this final, the Pakistan player Arshad Nadeem has thrown of 92 meters away and won the gold medal for the Pakistan after 32 years in Olympics.

His first throw was not good as it was foul because he crossed the line but on the next one, he was fully prepared, and thrown of 92 meters away, such an amazing throw it was and in the full game, there was no one who even break this record last night in Paris. For the first time, in the Jevelin throw history any player threw 92 meters in Olympics.

I completely forgot about them and just remembered when I saw videos of women breaking competition going viral because of Australia and the USA(no it's not because they were the best, it was the opposite). anyway, the women category is done and Japan took gold, Lithuania took silver and China took bronze.

the boy's category will be tomorrow Aug 11, I can't wait to watch it, I saw videos of the Olympic qualifiers competition weeks ago and they are really good.

Congrats to Indonesia for winning 2 golds, and just like your neighboring country the Philippines who has won 2 golds as well in the gymnastics, I think the South East countries are doing good in the Olympics and probably this is their biggest haul.

We are almost at the tail of this event, atmosphere is still very competitive.

United States and China are tied with the most gold medals, but the US has more in terms of the total numbers of medals.

Spain is the hottest country currently in football and I don't think that it will be easy for any other country to win them because they have shown this in 2024 Olympics finals after they win France the host 5-3 in 120 minutes. Sergio Camello was able to seal their victory with a dying minutes goal with a clean finish from a counter.

It was not quite long that Spain won Euros and now Olympics. Spain have a whole lot of youngsters that will be dominating football in no time.

Congratulations to them for this great achievement.

A very exciting match, I also liked the way the French team played, maybe "Tití Henry" did well, he is handling his players in an impressive way, but the game that Spain played was superior, I do not deny it, France surprised me from the beginning but did not maintain the same level of the first minutes, Spain undoubtedly has the baton of the best team in Europe right now and so far of the Olympics, if the World Cup were this year, would it be likely that Spain would win it ? They have a very good lineup.
