The performance of the Italian women's volleyball team was extraordinary, they managed to dominate the match very well after defeating the United States Volleyball Team 3-0 in the final. They managed to crush the defending champions in three sets to win the gold medal, a match that looked very easy for them as USA Volleyball Team was unable to put up any resistance at all.
All eyes were of course on Paola Egonu who was the star of the final, she managed to score 22 points including four great blocks that prevented the opposing team from scoring. The success of the Italian women's volleyball team in winning the gold medal is a great record for them, besides winning the first gold medal, they also managed to end America dominance in women's volleyball.

France did very well, some of its performance is surely due to a home team advantage from France being the Olympics host.  Thats a given but also makes me think of how in Football they split up the teams of the United Kingdom because it promotes competitive sport to do so.

Surely USA should do the same in many sports where it dominates or are they too fond of winning to ever do so even if it helps the sport and competition generally, maybe thats not happening in the Olympics but other contests it should.   I doubt it ever happens anymore then China would recognize its size advantage, its still a fair idea imo.

We both didn't have much luck hehehe
Especially me who lost the Both teams to score bet, and anyway I would have lost if I bet on Brazil 
But it's okay, it's a good position to get a silver medal at an Olympic Games, but it's already become quite uncomfortable for Brazil, since the 3 times they've reached the final against the United States, they've lost, 2004, 2008 and now in 2024.
I expected a final with more goals, after Brazil beat Spain 4x2 

Who knows, maybe in London 2028 they'll get another chance?

I would like to dedicate a thought to the Italian women's volleyball team for the commendable performance they gave compared to the men they have just won the gold medal a magnificent performance by Paola egonu who once again demonstrated that she is of another very good level

No. Stephen Curry was in all-star five, but he wasn't the MVP. The MVP was LeBron James.

I didn't know medal tally before, was just keeping in touch with how Indian athletes are doing in Olympics, was happy with handful of bronzes and silvers that India won, now that I read [1] how many Golds alone China and USA has won, I feel very surprised and this comparsion took away my joy.

Finals are always full of surprises so even though your thinking is perfectly in order, you don't expect any team that reaches the final, in that competition that was fiercely contested, to be an easy ride. Besides, the French side are good in all ramification and they truly performed accordingly even though they could not win the match. At some point in the competition, it was obvious that France and Spain were distinguished and most likely the finalists. I must congratulate Spain on yet another great achievement.

Serbia was a much stronger team than France, they pushed their opponents hard in the semi-final match. But France had no chance in this match.
We understood in the first minutes how much LeBron James wanted to win the match. His game was so ambitious and competitive that France had no chance. He played as a full team captain. Curry's three-points were legendary. He has a style of play that I don't like at all, but I really respect him, he played very well at the end of the match

Who won the MVP for basketball?
Must be Steph Curry without any doubt, right?

Any France have very good players, they will dominate Europe in the following years and most of them will dominate NBA from next year.

France did its best, but the fact is that when the USA comes with its senior team in basketball, there is no country on earth that it cannot beat.

Faith Kipyegon has done it once again by winning the 1500m gold for the third time in a row sealing the deal as one of the best long distance runners of all time. She is easily one of the best Olympians of all time.

It's a shame that I lost this match because I chose the odds for Brazil winning but I don't regret anything because Brazil played well and they fought as hard as they could. In my view, Brazil didn't play any worse than the US and that's not what made them lose this final match but, more because of one person who really played brilliantly, and she managed to thwart all the good opportunities that Brazil had.

The US is truly lucky to have Alyssa Naeher, and I think Alyssa Naeher was more worthy of being the star in the final, rather than Mallory Swanson who scored the winning goal for US.

When you say basketball, we say United States
Since the first period, USA were dominating the game with a comfortable lead. Only the third period was for the French side, otherwise finishing behind with 11 points difference isn't something to be proud of for France in the final game..
USA are right now 1 gold away from taking the first position from China.

USA was much better as expected. This time they didn't fall behind in the game. France stayed close until the end but couldn't push them any further. This team is already very difficult to beat. If they wanted and needed, they could've won differently. USA team was too strong. The GOAT LeBron James won Olympic gold medal once again for the last time.

USA became Olympic champions, this was expected, they definitely had to be champions with this squad and they did.

Curry was the star of the night, he played with 24 points tonight.

Kevin Durant became the first male basketball player to win 4 gold medals in Olympic history. He achieved a great success.

France came in second in the Olympics.

Serbia came in third in the Olympics by defeating Germany.

I totally agree with your opinion about Sergio Camello and how he's likely to move to a bigger club after his stellar performance in the Olympics games. The 23 years of Madrid-born attacker was electrifying through our his time on the pitch against France in that final. For the result of the game, I was very disappointed with France for conceding two extra time goals despite coming from 3:1 to equalize in normal time. Spain national team recently won the UEFA Euros Championship and now their football that represented the country have also won gold in the Olympics. Spanish football seems to be dominating in world football at the moment. If they can continue like this, Spain will surely be a serious contender in the next edition of the FIFA World Cup which is just two years away from now.

Last day in athletics stadium. A bit strange men high jumping final. USA and New Zealand athletes were fighting for gold and after failing at 2.38, then they went back to jumping 2.36 and then 2.34 until New Zealand's Hamish Kerr won gold. 2020 winner Mutaz Essa Barshim ended, another legend Gianmarco Tamberi ended at just 2.22, he couldn't do better because of kidney problem.
What a dominace of USA in women 400m relay, they were just 0.1 away from World Record. Femke Bol takes silver for Netherlands in last moments.

Women Gold medal football game wasn't most exciting, it was typical final without many moments. It was game where 1 goal decided winner and USA team is back on the top again.

A bit disappointing beach volleyball final. Sweden faced no competition from Germany and won final in very confident way.
Same thing can be said about volleyball final, France took gold against Poland in straight 3 sets and only 3rd set was more or less close.


Even though my country got silver medal in breaking, I'm not big fan of such sports. I prefer sports where winner is decided by scored points/goals, distance or time. Not where everything decided by referees who may be biased like breaking, gymnastics and so on.
There won't be breaking in 2028 Olympics, while there is cricket included and we have Rugby-7 in Olympics for some time already.

Just a trivia though, it is officially branded as Tokyo 2020 not Tokyo 2021. Though the events happened from July-Aug 2021.

Anyway, we all know the hard core in basketball is Team USA. But of course, good competitors are always on the line. The early odds are also favouring Team USA on this sports. They are just living their reputation.

However, there are good stories to tell like for example, the South Sudan team who put up a good fight when they had a match with USA. That South Sudan is a good underdog story, they showed a very strong point that they can also compete in the world stage given their players' background and of course how they come from one of the poorest countries in the world.

What a game for team USA on Basketball game.
Curry has been superb in the last 2 quarters and USA won again after Tokyo 2021.
Fun fact the final of 2021 was also France vs USA.
This is the 17th time, 5th in a row for the golden medal for the US.
