Not to say, however, the opening ceremony was really bad, never has one been so bad in my opinion, however, speaking of athletes, Italy has a great chance of repeating itself in athletics and collecting medals, we just have to hope that Jacobs is in form

I never knew I could love rugby, I think this should be my first time enjoy a rugby match and I have watch two matches straight. First was between New Zealand and Argentina which was a very interesting match although New Zealand performed better than Argentina. The second match was between Ireland and USA, another surprise match that saw Ireland taking an early lead. If I were to place a bet on this matches, I might have lost because I would have played USA to have an easy win and Argentina to win New Zealand but the reverse were the case.

I think Josh Giddey is underrated though in the NBA and it really surprises us why the OKC give up this guy and send them to Chicago. It could probably because of his supposedly alleged relationship with underage.
He did well last season with the OKC and I think his issues made the management trade him to the Chicago Bulls. And that's why the OKC trying to clean their column by trading him. But as everyone is saying, the Bulls have stolen him from them. It is a blessing in disguise for them.

Anyway, there are fans who commented that Australia is a great dark horse in this Olympics together with South Sudan. And so now why analyst are putting them like that because of how the chemistry is build for the Olympics.

There next game is against Nigeria and I think it will be another win for them.
You mean Australia's next game is against Nigeria? There's no Nigeria from group A and they have not qualify to Olympics but their next opponent is going to be Canada. This is an interesting matchup.

As mentioned above by Harkorede, Nigeria men's basketball team didn't qualify for the olympic games and I think you are confusing the men's tournament with women's tournament.
Note that the basketball match between Australia and Nigeria which will take place on July 29 will be in the women's tournament.

The first Basketball game of the Olympics just ended between Australia and Spain, Josh Giddey and Jock Landale with Patty Mills turning back the hands of time playing like his prime had Spain on the slaughter slab today...

All I can say is that Chicago Bulls have got themselves a huge steal with Josh Giddey trade ngl!!

I quite agree that Josh Giddey is underrated in the NBA, but the Oklahoma City Thunder trading him wasn't out of being underrated, it was more of what they felt they needed the most and trading what they have for it, they a lot of fire power offensively with SGA, Jalen Williams and there is Wallace and Wiggins on the sideline already but needed a bit more of defense and I don't think the Bulls would have accepted any trade from OKC for Caruso if it didn't included a played like Giddey or Jalen Williams.

The Nigerian basketball team did not qualify the Olympics and Australia next fixture would be against Canada and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, that should be an interesting watch as well.

I watched the Olympic opening ceremony yesterday and I was amazed by the French.
It was a magnificent ceremony on the Seine River.
I especially liked the section where the statues of women who lived in the past emerged from the bottom of the river and the information about them.
I expect the 2024 Summer Olympics to go down in history as an Olympics with many records.
I also watched it and I was marvel at the entertainment on the Seine River because a lot of countries partook in the boat sailing and it was damn colorful. I like the concept on how the Swine River was designed and it was just like let the countries not stop sailing by but I didn't see my country among them maybe I missed it. Celine Dion performance was also great to start the Olympics with.

I watched the live pictures of the opening ceremony of this summer's Olympics and my highlight of the ceremony was to see Celine Dion perform live in the stadium. It was her first public appearance after she announced in December 2022 that she was taking time off so she can take good care of her health. The melodious voice of the Canadian singer tonight sent chills down my spine as I reminisced about the times her tracks helped heal from moments of sadness. Great to see the Queen of Power of Ballads on a global stage again. Olympics as the second greatest sporting will always bring beautiful memories to viewers of the events.
it was an epic moment for me. Earlier before now, I've been seeing some videos making round on most social media platforms depicting how worse her health condition has been and it was even deficult for her to stand on her feet or even sing anything close to the pitch she got to at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. the last thing I expected to see was the epic display that showed the energy, passion and the voice that never stater at any point throughout her rendition.

She's forth death, weakness and has shown what it means to be a conquerer and that's just the best motivation all athlete would want to get hold of as a source of motivation throughout thier company not just at this Olympics but in life generally that there is no reason to give up. The end of the tunnels lies a lot more than you currently see now.

The opening ceremony was fire literally. Loved the lighting everywhere(Especially on the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Pyramid). The hot air balloon towards the end looked majestic as it flew off into the distance.

15 athletes from Russia and 17 from Belarus are competing under the label of AIN (Athlètes Individuel Neutres or Individual Neutral Athletes). National Olympic committees in both the countries have termed these athletes as "traitors".
Hilarious! These idiots messed up Ukraine and are acting like the victims which is seriously silly to say the least. They can thank dumbass Putin for this treatment.

Nigeria put pressure in the first half but they lost because they did failed to take their chances . They froze from the moment Brazil started looking better. I didn’t have my hopes up for the Super Eagles so I can’t say I am disappointed with the results. I’m actually impresssed with how they played today despite the 1 nil loss. Looking at the stats Nigeria were the better side in the match. If they can play like they did in the last 15mins of tonight’s game, I believe they will be able to fare better against other teams in the group.
Nigeria put up a hell of a fight against Brazil. But that's football for you, really. Stats don't win games, goals do. Though they didn't win, they played with heart. That's the difference between a good team and a great team. They are now opposing Spain, the group's top dogs. Then there is Japan, tough and orderly as nails. Not many simple games available from here on forward. Though they have talent, Nigeria needs more intelligence. They gotta channel that energy into goals. Otherwise, they are returning early home

That's for sure; this event will be entertaining. Though Nigeria has promise, it's all about turning that promise into outcomes. We will find out whether they possess what it takes
The moment I saw the group members, I knew that it will be difficult for Nigeria to survive that group of champions. I guess their first match proved me right because they lost the match despite the fact that they tried so well, beyond the imagination of many football analysts. I was expecting that Brazil will trash Nigeria at least 3-0, so the 1-0 defeat is something good for the Nigerian side as that can not be called a disgraceful loss.

There have been concerns about the management of the Super Falcons though, this being a major factor that can impact on their play. Hopefully they will be able to avoid embarassing defeats even though their chances of surviving in that group is so slim.

The NFF and Minister of sport have always been poor and nonchalant regarding the care of out athletes and this lack of proper preparation often have its adverse effects on the mentality of the players during any competition. We've overcome a far greater odds in the past, and I believe the Super falcons can defy the odds once again.

Celine Dion is quite popular in the French speaking world, especially in France and Quebec.

I was also quite concerned when I heard the news about her poor health. Hopefully she is feeling better now. BTW, the opening ceremony was quite glitzy and glamorous. The idea of introducing the teams on a ferry was a welcome change. Now coming to the schedule, there are exciting events lined up for today, including Artistic gymnastics (Qualification), Basketball (Preliminary round) and Football (men's First round).

I've been watching the warm up games for the US Mens basketball team.  They sure have had some tight games that you would expect otherwise would have been blowouts.  I still think that since these games were exhibition games, and not actual games, that the US teams wasn't playing as hard as they actually would otherwise, so I'm not that worried about them (as a US citizen) but I would say there is a real chance of them struggling if they don't get on the same page as each other asap.

I don't know if there warm up games would really transcend into their Olympics matches performance but of course you might be right because at least the most valid point of why most of this studded team could struggle would because just only Tatum is player that could have the most minutes as a player who had the deepest post season run in the NBA so the level of competition between them might not just be there with their main guys, however these are elite players and have performed at the highest level of basketball game, so they could flip to a competitive team and the twinkle of an eye, I'm sure the first game would tell us how much to expect from them.

Honestly if anything Tatum would be the least ready to play as having all those extra games will put some wear and tear on a player. Though he’s a young buck and not a huge deal. That said their team is absolutely stacked and they , at least talent wise, are far superior to any other team.  Old man Lebron has been their best player hands down so far. They will need his vast Olympic experience to guide them through to gold. If they don’t win it all, have to wonder how big of an Olympic upset in terms of all time it would be. Gotta at least be top 10.

Their first game is Sunday 11am eastern standard (alarm on my phone is set!)

Celtics had quite an easy run, they didn't play any game even any 6 if I recall correctly, it was all a 5 game affair to the championship for them, but I understand the toll that also could have had one any player. I most definitely would not be missing the match either, the time is quite more favorable for me, it's 4:15 PM in my timezone.

France is another team I'd be watching this year, it's also 4:15pm on Saturday for France vs Brazil.

Playoffs include first round, conference semifinals, conference finals and then championship finals. So for the Celtics 16 extra games in total./ Over a months worth of extra games. It’s a good amount.

Again, should have zero effect on the team as well as Tatum given his age. Also he is not a starter, though he is certainly going to be the 2nd-4th guy off the bench , matchup depending.

And speaking of the opening ceremony and its games, this year did they happen to have more sports to start before the opening?
The number of sports that started before the opening ceremony was same as 2020 olympics. This year, archery, rugby sevens, football and handball games started before the opening ceremony and in 2020 olympics, we had archery, softball, football and rowing games that started before the opening ceremony.

In 2012 and 2016, we had only 2 sports (archery and football) that started before the opening ceremony.

I have never been interested in the Olympics to be honest, even though I hear about the event most of the times. However this time it caught my attention somehow I think that this year it had a bigger media coverage comparing to the previous years.

I am willing to follow some sports on the Olympic games this year I might even place some bets and try my luck even with my poor knowledge and experience in this matter.

Best of luck to all the athletes mostly the ones who participated from my country.

I don't know how you can't be interested in the Olympics, it's the top of the top in terms of talent for most sports.  Especially individual sports like gymnastics, swimming and track.  I can see soccer where the world cup is more coveted or an nba championship for some players vs an Olympics win.  But overall the competition no matter the sport is top notch.
