He will me correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that he has issues with football being part of the Olympics but instead he was (probably) referring at what happened yeterday in Morocco-Argrntina game where they disallowed goal Argentina scored for 2-2 hour and a half after the end of the game.
The goal wasn't disallowed after the match, but during the match.
The referee had to suspend the match due to the chaos caused by the crowd when there were three minutes left and the goal hadn't been reviewed yet. The match was resumed after nearly 2 hours and VAR disallowed the goal.

Olympics started very bad from all aspects and I can't even watch them to be honest. I've saw what happened yesterday in football and it was a disgrace to football because they really tried everything to let Argentina score but in the end they made the right call by VAR that 2nd goal of them but it took around 2 hours ? this looks like a rigged competition for Olympics football and I will not watch a single minute of it.

The only competition worth to watch is swimming at this point as there we will have a majestic battle between young generation who is coming to dominate the sport.

Then it is left only to wish every team luck and play fair Cheesy I really hope that everyone will compete fair and be clean from doping.

Btw, those who watch Olympic games, do you watch your favourite sport only, or sport where your country participate? I prefer to watch specific sports mostly and cheer for new record to be set. I find it really to cool to see if an athlete has improved so much during 4 years, that he has performed much better than gold medals owner of a previous games and set a new record. It is even cooler if a really old record is beaten.

I dont remember that France usually earn a lot of medals during Olympic games, but they are always in top10. People say that "at home even walls help". Do you think that participating at home will help France to get more medals? Opening ceremony starts tomorrow evening. I always loved to watch athletes walk, so I suggest you to postpone some of your plans tomorrow, watch ceremony and support your team.

Home advantage always help (to a certain degree). France won a total of 33 medals including 10 golds in the previous edition (which is really good BTW). This time they will definitely won more (and also we need to remember that Russian athletes are not taking part, which will bring down the competition). France won gold medals last time in Judo, Fencing, Karate, Handball and Rowing. Also they won gold in men's Volleyball (after defeating Russian Olympic Committee in the finals).

I haven't made any bet on any Olympics games. I prefer the entertainment that comes from watching the games. My favourite games are the track and field event and swimming. The football matches are not as interesting as championships that are exclusively for football games. Hey notblox1, which are your favourite games and what is your predictions? Do you usually bet on Olympic games?
Olympics is mostly for fun, indeed it is full of fun. The procession alone is an event that many people across the world look forward to and this cut across race, sex and age. It is difficult to see someone that do not like any of the events in the Olympics since they are so many, from indoor games to outdoor games. However, the Olympics could also be a good opportunity to earn passive income. There are certain events whose outcome can easily be determine. Putting money in these events can actually become money.
The Olympics is a competition that you can watch for a long time without getting bored. There are different competitions that you can always tune to if one is on break or you get bored with a particular sport. But my favorite remains football because it is filled with surprises. African nations have found it difficult to get to the World Cup finals but two African teams have won gold in football in the Olympics.

Since the number of senior players that will play in the Olympic football team is restricted, it is a platform for the discovery of young talented footballers. In this current Olympic games, I am more interested in the female football games since my country's male football team didn't make it to the competition.

First round of Olympic Football matches started today with eight matches in the schedule.
Argentina is playing the first match in the tournament against Morocco and this two teams never played against each other before.
Alvarez, Rulli, and Otamendi are all playing for Argentina after winning Copa America few weeks ago, but they are alerady losing the first half against Morocco.
I am expecting more goals and interesting second half between this two teams.
Another possible surprise is Uzbekistan vs Spain 1:1 in first half.

All matches played today:

Argentina vs Morocco
Uzbekistan vs Spain
Egypt vs Dominican Republic
Guinea vs New Zealand
Iraq vs Ukraine
Japan vs Paraguay
France vs USA
Mali vs Israel

The Olympic Games are not going to be as interesting as other leagues' games because many teams don’t allow their players to for the Olympics because of injury and tiredness of some players and they won’t have enough time to rest, teams that don't allow their players to play in Olympic Games are like Real Madrid did not allow any of their players because they don’t want their players to get injured and come back to the team that they won’t be able to play very well when the team needs them, I didn’t see any team fault for not allowing their players to play in any Olympic Games because they have a good reason about that.

The only team that I have seen their performance in this tournament is France, France's performance against the USA is very impressive and I like the way those guys played together as one team, I’m not saying France is going to win this tournament but what I’m trying to say is that France performance in this Olympic tournament is better than any country and If they continue playing like this they are going to make it to the final round of this tournament.

Yes, that's true. VAR did show that the goal had to be canceled because it was in an offside position. The referee who leads the match needs to take firm action to be a lesson to other referees who will be on duty in other matches that the firmness of the referee who leads the match must not repeat incidents like in this match.

Yeah, it's purely for fun and obviously you will have to support your country and hope that they can get more medals. But in any case though, this might be the first time that I will bet, specially in the basketball games. Although the Americans might be the huge favorite for the gold, the battle for silver and bronze might be a good one to bet as there are a lot of countries, who might be a huge underdog that can reach their qualifying in their division, like South Sudan who gave the Americans one hell of a fight.

I do agree that track and field is one of most exciting games as there are a lot of great athletes in both women and men. 100m, 200m, and in the relays. Maybe we can see some drama with the baton passing specially if a great team drop it and lose their chances for a medal.

I hadn't bothered checking for more information regarding the 2024 Olympics until yesterday. I'm sorry if this question sounds dumb, but weren't the Olympics to start tomorrow, the 26th of July? How come there were football matches on the 24th and 25th?

Anyway, this will be my first time to actively watch the Olympic games. I've got zero clue on what to expect regarding gambling purposes, which is why I'm likely to stay as a spectator. Otherwise, I'll bet on a few football or basketball games, hoping for the best.

We might start seeing a situation where clubs will start calling for reviews for matches that has already ended. I don't understand what's happening to football lately since the introduction of var, sometimes there are many decisions that are really questionable, just like this one that happened here.
I think it's too far-fetched since a case like this is an exception rather than the norm, but players or teams will definitely get confused if the officials keep referring to different rules for each competition. Maybe FIFA and other governing bodies should talk and judge which rules to use for every major competition and tell the players beforehand, so people won't use example from different competition because there's no end to that. A little bit of transparency should help in this regard, although I don't see how to solve incompetency other than replacing people. CMIIW.

I was genuinely surprised to hear that Argentina's late, late goal was disallowed later on. 4 freaking attempts to get the goal in at the end was crazy and I knew that it looked like it was an offside, but I was surprised to see the referee not signalling that.

This game was far more entertaining than the Egypt-Dom Republic game which was boring as hell. Just wish they didn't make it controversial.

Football in Olympics, what a joke. First day of Olympics and we already have big scandal even before opening ceremony. It's biggest sport event in 4 years and France already failed with security. And then when it was already possible to play these remaining few minutes, everything probably was done according to rules, but still, such things always looks contraversial.

With things like this you can't help but ask if France are doing this on purpose. I mean in terms of the security. Argentina complained that they were attacked and a player was robbed. Fireworks were thrown at them. I think it's the French people that just want to take revenge on the Argentine squad for what the senior team did on the bus. I think French people took that very personally.

As for the match, I still don't understand why they had to come back and review the goal. If a match has ended then everybody has to move on. I don't think it's right to call a match back to review a goal, it doesn't make sense. The goal should be reviewed before they suspended the match.
Exactly my point, after the fans interference and according to reports two hours has already passed the match should have just ended the way it was. What they have done here might be a reference point when football season finally returns. We might start seeing a situation where clubs will start calling for reviews for matches that has already ended. I don't understand what's happening to football lately since the introduction of var, sometimes there are many decisions that are really questionable, just like this one that happened here.

As for France fans attacking the Argentine's fan and athletes because of the incident that happened after the Copa America victory, I think it's not necessary. FIFA and other bodies are investigating the issues, so it won't be nice for them to take laws into their hands. I know the tension between the two countries are high now, but the police should do their job without being bias.

What is your problem man? If basketball and volleyball can be included in Olympics, then definitely football can find it's rightful place. And from 2028, cricket is also being included. And you maybe already knowing about the player eligibility criteria. It is essentially an Under-23 competition, with a maximum 3 over-age players being allowed in the roster. And this means that Olympic football tournament is a great opportunity for the younger players.

One thing is true though, football at Olympics was never that popular simply because of u23 rule and it will remain like that until that is changed (which I don't think will happen).

France vs USA

This game was interesting especially in the first sixty to seventy minutes. I didn't expect USA to play the way they did. France was clearly the superior side and more importantly had superior strikers but USA move the ball excellently and even created a good scoring opportunities when they hit crossbar, hit the post and the save from the goal keeper.

Although, we can still say USA need to pay much attention to sport industries because they seem to show less concern about it which is the reason the country can not compete with their fellow. If they can continue to play like this, they will definitely advance to next stage from that their group.

Didn't watch the match because I was still at work but reading the news of what happened, I was surprised at what happened. The security on the ground couldn't stop Moroccan fans from invading the pitch in protest. Luckily they achieved their aim as the goal was cancelled since VAR concluded it was not a goal.

This is a failure of the security and the match officiating system. So If the fans didn't protest, it would have been counted for a goal.? This can serve as a motivation to other country's fans to do the same thing if they are not satisfied with officiating. I just hope that the organizers have learned the right lesson from the outcome of this game. They shouldn't allow such a thing to happen again in this competition because it will affect their reputation negatively. Congratulations to the Moroccan team, maybe we might see a repeat of the last World Cup performance by the Moroccan national team in Qatar.

Tomorrow Nigeria will be playing against Brazil in the women football tournament. The Nigerian national women team, Super Falcons are placed in a group with Japan, Spain, and Brazil. It’s a no brainer that the Super Falcons are the underdogs in the group and are the least likely to qualify from the group. The Super Falcons have had some amazing progress from their last appearance on the international stage but compared to the other teams in group C they seem like weak link in the group. If the Super Falcons are able to beat Brazil tomorrow, they would have built for themselves a confidence and reputation in the tournament.

France looks like a completely different in the Euro 2024 compared to what we are seeing now, I totally understand that these are to different tournaments and the competition and quality of their opponents is quite lower now but the looking the lack of attacking power France had in the Euro I'm strongly convinced that given the form both Lacazette, Mateta and Michael Oliseh weren't on the squad, Mateta had a better season than Thuram in my opinion and so did Lacazette too, if you ask me. I guess that's the curse of having way too many options.
