I watched a few clips of the opening ceremony for the Olympics and my stance about it hasn't changed. Olympics was a big deal for me a decade or two ago when the likes of Messi and Ronaldo could participate. I used to wake up as early as 3-5am in anticipation of Olympic games. I might seen see of the games over the course of the competition even though I don't have much interest for it. Fifa nerfed the Olympics games for men football so bad.
I agree with you, no matter how much they try to make the opening and closing ceremonies as marvelous and enchanting as possible, the Olympic games are no longer as captivating as they were a few years ago.
And speaking of the opening ceremony and its games, this year did they happen to have more sports to start before the opening?
I understand that football is the sport that brings the most complications to the tight schedule of the Olympics, which are officially two weeks long. Whoever reaches the medal competition has to face six matches and a minimum recovery time of less than three days (66 hours) is required, which is why the sport has 19 days of competition for men and 18 for women.... something that breaks the calendar.
But, if I were an athlete, I would much rather just start participating after the opening ceremony... imagine losing the first one, how am I going to get excited for the opening ceremony? This is very strange.
Why don't they increase the duration of the competition and extend the closing ceremony?
