i have been wondering about this

how are they going to have access to 28nm chips when the rest of the companies can barely get ahold of 65nm?

i do not understand how they are going to get a hold of 28nm at the same rate as Apple IBM etc.
28nm is a common fab size, it costs more so other ASIC vendors opt for cheaper sizes.

then why are other companies developing with larger gate size?

new stuff is coming out on 100+nm designs

also how did they get the millions to do a 28nm mask?

I need to bone up on my linux.  I don't know anything about it.  Can a GUI be installed like Ubuntu or is it all prompts?  (probably don't know what I'm talking about)

Windows has made me soft.  Although I used to be pretty good at DOS back in the day. lol

this made me laugh so hard Cheesy

My retardation is for your amusement.  Glad I could provide.

Markus is some kind of Genius. I'm totally impressed, even without seeing it. This just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Bitcoinorama for sharing that.

It's not just Marcus! He has a team, I was told off before about this!! Wink

Of course, lol....

OK, here's a question ...   We know they are "scale-able" and such...   looking at the newest drawings, one could easily see the same case & linux device going in/on every unit, and the number of pcb+chip modules determining the hashrate. So, the question is... Will it be the same case, and allow us to buy working pcb+chip expansion modules for the Mercury & Saturns, enabling us essentially to be able to turn them all into Jupiters? That would make me do back-flips right here in my living-room!

I bet 0.5 BTC it's yes Smiley

Having seen the recent drawings, that thought occurred to myself, but then they would require customers to have the basics of IT skill, I'm not 100% customer service and after sale aggro wise that's what they intend to offer. It would allow customers to scale themselves regardless of financial standing that way though...

What precisely do you mean by lead time?
The time it will take for a new order to reach the consumer.

Is October still a reasonable estimate for lead time on all KnCMiner products?
We have yet to hear otherwise
Ok thanks.  They are still taking preorders with those dates, so I suppose they know what they are doing.  Just hard to imagine that is a possibility Smiley

Is the embedded linux device a raspberry pi?

Also, is it October now for shipping?  Or is that referring to Mercury and people who are placing orders now?

No it's custom made by ORSoC, we were shown it at the open day. All have imbedded Linux. Mercury -> Jupiter are just modular ASiC quantiy difference.
Bitcoinorama...  WOW. Can you please tell us absolutely everything you can about the custom linux interface device? That's Phenomenal!

I just did. I have a feeling the piece Marcus holds in the video when explaining die and package size is just that. For sure Daggeteo should be able to confirm this as he saw it at both open days. They had a box of PCB boards and a heat sink on the desk to use as props. One was the misspelt 'Bitcoins makes the world go around' empty Mars PCB board and one of the boards was def the Linux board of the same size as that in the video...

The miners are totally plug and play.
