16 nations will participate in upcoming T20 world cup. Namibia is the last ranked team among them. All other nations staying ahead of Namibia in the Men's T20I Team Rankings. And you are talking about an old match. Things has changed a lot since than. Other cricket team has made a lot of improvement. Namibia isn't a new team in cricket. ICC should take some steps so that lower rank teams can gradually improve their performance.
ICC cannot take steps to improve their performance, they will provide the funds and their cricket board has to find young talents and help them improve their game.

David Wiese the former South African player will be making his debut for Namibia and it is an advantage for them even though i have not seen him performing well when he was in the South African squad, maybe he will be performing far better in a team like Namibia as he will be getting all the freedom unlike playing in a competitive South African squad.

I don't know why their ranking is so low, but I consider them as one of the strongest associate nations. They haven't played a lot of matches lately, and that may be the reason why their ranking is low. I still remember the match between Namibia and England in 2003 world cup. At one point, Namibia was ahead in the D/L par score. ~

One of the most popular franchise T20 leagues around the world, the Caribbean Premier League 2021 edition will be starting next week. As usual, there are a number of big names, both from West Indies and from abroad participating in the tournament. In the Indian subcontinent, the matches will be shown live on Star Sports, with Hostar providing live streaming. Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, Shimron Hetmyer, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Fletcher are some of the big names from West Indies. Among the overseas players, we have Faf du Plessis, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir and Colin Munro.

Looking forward to watching the Caribbean Premier League. The matches here are very competitive and enjoyable. Although the main reason I watch the Caribbean League is that I try to bet on almost every match here. I never miss a chance to bet on IPL and Caribbean League matches.

Wow The two players Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez are in form from the KPL and good to see them action in Caribbean Premier League 2021. I just checked and found that both of them belongs to Guyana Amazon Warriors thus making it my favorite team  Smiley

Can you share who are the worldwide TV producers for this series and where can we watch this tournament in Pakistan ?  Will Ten-Sports shows this ? Star sports and Hotstar services not available in Pakistan.

The Big final for KPL 2021 is about to start in less than 30 minutes. These are the two best teams of the tournament and meeting in the final. They have previously meet in the pool matches and in the Qualifier 1 and both matches were a thriller. ~
Who will win this Final ,  SHAHID AFRIDI or MUHAMMAD HAFEEZ ?
Maybe Muzaffarabad Tigers (Mohammad Hafeez team) will win this match. Rawalakot Hawks has given a target of 170 runs. And Muzaffarabad Tigers has started their innings perfectly. BTW, KPL started a few days ago and it's ending very quickly! It is one of the shortest T20 league I have ever seen.

I thought that too thought out the match that Muzaffarabad Tigers will win as they played the better cricket but i felt that some unseen forces (which people can't see) wanted shahid Afradi team should win and they really won in the end.

KPL next edition will consists of Seven teams instead of six as announced yesterday in the presentation ceremony and this will increase the duration of the tournament also.

Overall, KPL is a good entry in the list of franchises. We will see international players participation also in future.

The ICC has announced that the participating nations will be allowed to bring a total of 15 players and 8 officials to UAE/Oman. And the list of the individuals need to be submitted before 10th September. Additional players can be brought as reserve but the participating nations need to take care of the expenses of these players. Smaller nations will be at a disadvantage here, in case any of their squad members test positive for COVID. Now we have less than two months to go, to the start of the world cup.

I think the team that New Zealand has announced in the T20 series with Bangladesh VS New Zealand is definitely the wrong decision for them. Because Bangladesh is a very strong team at their home ground. As a result, Australia suffered a few days ago. This will also be good preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup for Bangladesh. This is a great opportunity for Bangladesh

Complete schedule of T-20 WC

@Royse777 Heads up!! We do have exact 2 months so plenty of time for WC pool. Next month seems right time to create the pool, you're not active in cricketing thread nowadays so let us know if you're managing new pool for this.
I will be taking care of everything one time :-D
Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, lately not going much with cricket in my life. Kinda busy with others stuffs like campaign management and my regular profession.
Its alright, take your time we have enough time for both tournament IPL -T-20 WC.

Btw you missed the fair amount of wonderful matches. Gabba drama (don't remember if you are here then), English tour of India. Then Kiwis kicked Indians down at the WTC finals and recently exciting display of Test cricket in the Lord's. Hope you were at least checking the scorecard.

Namibia is at 19th position in men's T20I ream rankings. I don't have any idea about Namibian cricket players as they aren't popular and haven't played matches with top ranking teams. David Wiese is an experienced player in this format. But I think that he won't be able to bring much changes in their overall team performance.

Their performance declined after the ICC imposed funding cuts, but recovered after Shashank Manohar became the ICC chairman and undid the changes made by Srinivasan/Pawar. David Wiese is a big name in T20 cricket and he will bring a lot of experience to the current Namibian squad.

There is an interesting piece of news related to the T20 World Cup. Former South African international David Wiese will be representing the Namibian national side, as his father was born there. ~~
Normally I don't support non-citizens representing a country. But in this case it is OK, since his father is Namibian, and the remaining members of the team are citizens. One of the teams that is taking part in the tournament is entirely comprised of non-citizens (Oman).

The ICC has released the schedule for T20 World Cup, after a lot of delay. The preliminary phase will start on 17th October, when hosts Oman will face Papua New Guinea at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. For India, the first match is against Pakistan on 24th October. They will face New Zealand on 31st October and Afghanistan on 3rd November. The participation of Afghanistan is in doubt BTW, due to the civil unrest in that country. I guess if they are unable to participate, then the UAE may replace them.

It does not matter in the initial stages. Such tournaments are created to engage young children's first and then the youth. More such tournaments need to be organized in order to create awareness of the game. ICC needs to a lot more than organise such tournaments they need to penetrate at the school level and invest more money.

Native children won't play a sport, if they notice that only foreigners are taking part. And now coming to the ICC, changing the eligibility criteria was their quick fix solution to whitewash the decline of cricket in the European countries. As long as the natives are not playing cricket, the governments will not gve any recognition to the sport and will not allocate any funds for its development. If cricket was an Olympic sport, then it would not matter. But here in this case cricket is not even an Olympic sport (thanks to sabotage by the ICC a decade ago).

I agree with you. European countries may be hiring players or players from other countries are forming their teams with giving the citizenship of their own country, but still, they continue to play cricket. Gradually they will be able to develop experienced players in their own country when cricket becomes popular in their country. This requires time.

No one is giving citizenship to anyone. Cricket is the only sport that allows a national team without any citizens. For example, we have teams like UAE and Singapore, where none of the players are citizens of these countries. Same is the case with European countries. Anyone who arrives in France or Germany on a tourist visa can play matches for them. And this is happening right now. All of their players are citizens of India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. And that means that cricket will always be considered as a foreign sports by natives of these countries.

First of all, cricket is not an Olympic sport (at least until now). So that means that there will be no government support. On top of that, for almost two decades, the ICC actively hampered the development of cricket outside the pig-3 nations. When Jagmohan Dalmiya was the ICC president, he had initiated a very successful globalization program, which resulted in the spread of cricket to every nook and corner of the world. But Dalmiya was kicked out in 2000, and the power was seized by the Pawar/Srinivasan gang. After that cricket died out in these smaller nations. The situation changed only in 2015, when Srinivasan was kicked out by the newly elected NDA government in India.
I am not fully aware of these power struggles and all i know about these is from the cricket threads as i am least bothered to know about these underlining issues from other sources and do a detailed research  Cheesy.
Suppose the ICC is supporting cricket and wants to popularize the game in countries that are not prominent, the problem is you will not find many interested in a new sport and it will take a long time even for anyone to take cricket as a career when they have other lucrative sporting events to choose.

With franchise cricket in full flow and paying well, this is the best time to promote the sport as the money is good and you can attract new players into the game.

If that happens then it is definitely not good for cricket. I thought those players might have been given new citizenship of the country, then they would have been added to the national team. The ICC should make rules that a person cannot be included in the national team unless he is a citizen of the country. If they need, give the players of other countries the opportunity to play in the national team by giving them the citizenship of their own country.
