Fantasy cricket not being considered as gambling is a huge gain for those behind these two apps. Being under aged and still able to participate is a big issue for online gambling platforms. Noting can be done unless they make KYC mandatory. BTW, do these fantasy cricket app ask their users to go through KYC or not? Most South Asian countries have made KYC mandatory.

As far as I know, cash deposit in fantasy cricket (in India) can be done only through bank accounts or using debit/credit cards. So there is no need to do KYC. None of the sites allow deposits in the form of cryptocurrency. So the government may tolerate them up to a certain limit. Also, these brands (MPL, Dream XI.etc) are heavy donators to various political parties and therefore they have good relationship with the politicians. On top of that, the government badly needs the tax revenue from such activities.

The government would not consider them illegal but, they are promoting gambling. Yes, you are right these guys might be contributing a lot to political parties that is why they are able to operate without any issue. I also believe that such apps are opening doors to another kind of gambling apps. In the near future, many more will operate without any issue.

Comparing the squads of Bangladesh and New Zealand, Bangladesh team can be considered as stronger.
I guess you are assuming like that due to recently concluded Bangladesh-Australia series. In my opinion, Bangladesh made the most of their home advantages and that may continue even against New Zealand. Honestly, both New Zealand and Bangladesh got lots of new talents hence I am not going to predict what would be the final stand now itself.

I think Bangladesh will not be able to win this series if they do not perform well.
Lol, is this only for Bangladesh? Bangladesh will be definitely having home advantage in this scenario and I can get you as it is obvious that patriotism will make you talk in favor of your home team.

Well, NZ bowling squad has some good and senior players but from others, only Guptil seems known to me. Maybe I have missed the new players. So, yeah, Bangladesh is quite favorite provided they had a good series against Aussies.

Not sure yet but possibly I will pick NZ because their bowling seems pretty good. Southee, Ferguson, Ish Sodhi is included in the team. However, if odds for Bangladesh gets increased, I will go with Bangladesh of course.
Maybe you haven't checked the New Zealand squad yet. The Black Caps are in Bangladesh now with a ‘B’ category team. They haven't sent any players in this series from their T20 world cup squad. None of those senior players (mentioned by you) are included In the squad. Personally I don't have much idea about their current squad but I will prefer to place my bet on team Bangladesh.

Mushfiqur Rahim is back in the team. Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman is the key bowler for Bangladesh. Their performance was impressive against Australia. The betting odds are made based on these facts. Here is the squad of New Zealand cricket team

Comparing the squads of Bangladesh and New Zealand, Bangladesh team can be considered as stronger. Bangladesh team has some experienced batsmen, they always help the team to win. Moreover, the young players of Bangladesh are now performing very well. Although New Zealand has sent a second tier team, if Bangladesh thinks this team is weak then they will make a big mistake. New Zealand have sent a squad of youngsters, they will prove their worth and will do their best to secure their place in the national team. So I think Bangladesh will not be able to win this series if they do not perform well.

The base price for the two new teams in IPL is just crazy. I still remember when Rajasthan Royals won the bid with $67 million in 2008. The current base price represents almost 6 times increase since then. Still I believe that the expansion was long due. I would like to have IPL with 10 teams, and then each of these teams having a second division league on their own, with 10 teams each. For example, the Chennai Superkings could set up a mini-league on their own with 10 teams from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Similarly, Delhi Capitals can have a mini-league of 10 teams from Delhi and Western UP.

The Australian government has got very strict with the quarantine requirements, as the delta variant is spreading throughout the country. Even aboriginal communities in the remote outback have reported infections. Now they are reporting more than 1,000 cases per day (for much of 2021, the daily number of new cases was in single digits). Same is the situation in New Zealand, but they are not as worse as Australia. Still, it is a big blow for the overhyped "New Zealand model" under Jacinda Ardern. Despite being the most remote country in the world, they are unable to spread the COVID 19 spread there.

I think you'll find some of the South Pacific countries are much more remote than either Australia or New Zealand (and Brisbane is in Australia)  Same with protectorates such as the Falkland Islands / Easter Island / Pitcairn Island etc.

Some of your other information is almost correct - for example we've had double and triple digit infections prior to the most recent lock-downs in Greater Sydney/Greater Melbourne.

I'd be interested to hear where you are citing that "remote aboriginal communities have infections"...  Where are you quoting?

Our women team (Indian) is schedule to play series in Brisbane so this seems valid reason for another Cricket bubble. Btw what's the status of The Ashes? Read some reports that English players are not allowed to travel with the families due to strict bio bubble.

The media did show women entering the Stamford Plaza, with children (the children's faces were pixelated out) - perhaps it was the women's team as you suggest?

I don't understand how they calculate the odds based on which factors but believe me NZ is a strong team in their own country but since the match is being held at Bangladesh, i will consider Bangladesh favorite for tomorrow match. Also this NZ doesn't look too strong to me.

By the way, if you bet on NZ you will want NZ to win but deep inside your heart you are supporter of Bangladesh ( as you mentioned above). You may be quite confused during the match  Wink

Bangladesh vs New Zealand series is starting tomorrow. Anyone considering betting on this match? Stake.com is offering 1.67 for BD and 2.12 for NZ, considering NZ as underdog. NZ has sent a B category team possibly. I haven’t looked at the squad depth yet but that's what I have read few days ago if I can remember correctly.
2.12 for NZ seems quite high but BD recent form against Australia is somewhat to take into consideration before concluding anything. Anyway, though I'm a supporter of Bangladesh, I will possibly bet for NZ tomorrow. What do you think? NZ will get a chance or BD will continue the same form they had against Aus?

On second thought is it related to One day cup tourny?

Actually, I was kind of hoping someone in this thread might be able to shed some light on which flavour of cricket it was relating to, especially as Queensland has been managing to doge the silver bullet when it comes to Covid (due to our various lock-downs) but in saying that our ball codes (Rugby League and Australian Rules) have set up base in South East Queensland, so I was wondering if there was going to be a Cricket Bubble here in SEQ.
I checked the One Day Cup schedule and it seems to me that Queensland didn't get any initial matches, you can rule out this one.

2 more teams in the IPL soon. (2022)
BCCI invites tender for new IPL franchises

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put a base price of Rs 2000 cr for the new teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After it sent out a release inviting bids for two new franchises on Tuesday (August 31), a BCCI office-bearer confirmed to Cricbuzz that the reserve price would be Rs 2000 crore, an expected figure considering that the Rajasthan Royals, not exactly a top-rung side in the league, had sold 15 per cent of its share at an overall value of Rs 1850 crore recently.

The final selling price could be more than Rs 3000 crore per team but one BCCI official said the board expects it to be higher than double of the reserve fee. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the favoured destinations but a few other cities are also available for purchase. The whole process of bidding could be over by October second week enabling the two new franchises to witness the IPL final in Dubai on October 15."

I have never played fantasy cricket but I have heard it is very interesting. Some apps do allow you to play in demo tournaments for you to understand the concept. I still do not understand how can these apps be legal in South Asian countries where gambling is banned? As per my understanding, most of these apps are promoting gambling. Does anyone know what loophole are they using to show them as a legal entity?

Fantasy sports is not considered as gambling and that presents a loophole in countries where proper gambling is banned. And this is also one of the reasons why fantasy cricket is so popular in South Asia. The other legal avenues to gamble are not available, and therefore the gamblers flock to sites such as MPL and Dream XI. But recently the media have been critical of fantasy cricket. They claim that it is just like lottery and a lot of people have lost their money after getting addicted to it. They have strict requirement for participants that they should be aged 18 or above, but sometimes the participants use fake information to gain entry.

I was just watching the news on "Sunrise" on chanel seven and there's a (typical storm in a breakfast news tea cup) over the cricketers who have flown into Brisbane and been put into Luxury Hotel Quarantine.

I couldn't following what the problem is supposed to be, but the reporters were foaming at the mouth about the arrangements made for the cricketers.

Didn't hear any chatter or found anything about it, no big names seems to be involved here may be that's why no major sports outlet picked the story so can't make any sense of another quarantine drama atm.

I have never been into Fantasy cricket but i have heard it from some of my friends. Do we have have to invest in the game to earn the money and normally how much  person can earn from this on an average.
You pick a team of 11 players and if they perform you earn points and picking the captain and vice captain of the team is important because if they perform you will get double the points. There a ton of apps that provide fantasy cricket and i did participate in the past during world cup match and it was fun and you need to shell out some money, first spend small amount and understand the concept and then go for bigger amount if you are confident.

I don't totally agree with this because when we watch matches between big teams we know all of the players and its exciting to watch. For a match like this between Ireland and Zimbabwe, how many players you're familiar with ? To tell you truth, i did not know nay of the player in Ireland and only few for Zimbabwe.

However, if you are watching from the betting point of view, then its a different story because then your motive is to earn the money.

Nowadays tens of millions of cricket fans are very active in Fantasy cricket (Dream XI, MPL.etc). All of a sudden, fantasy cricket has achieved a larger than life image in South Asian countries like India and Bangladesh. It is mostly these guys who are closely following these type of matches. Also, these matches are very attractive for the gamblers, because the sportsbooks have a higher chance of underestimating various teams. From my part, I am a big fan of smaller countries like Ireland, and so I am interested in their matches although I am not in to fantasy cricket.

I have never been into Fantasy cricket but i have heard it from some of my friends. Do we have have to invest in the game to earn the money and normally how much  person can earn from this on an average.
The spike can be because you can earn a lot and our region is considered as underdevelopment so we seems to be more interested in these type of activities.
These are leagues that are conducted on regional manner. This means for India it is IPL, Bangladesh have got some other league. This doesn't require any investment, if we're with plans of betting. Same as the other matches we'll be provided with odds. We need to determine the team strength and choose the odds.

Apart from this fantasy cricket is being played through apps where we need to select a virtual team and based on the players performance the score for our virtual team is calculated and the top one to predict the perfect team with the high score wins.
