If you talking about Hardik Pandya he is a game changer and this year they had the perfect team with Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah share the new ball and they had the best batting line up and the strength of their middle order is Hardik Pandya and Pollard and they will try their best to retain all their top players and Ishan Kishan can open for them and he is a wicket keeper if they let go Quinton de Kock.

Trent Boult was the 4th highest wicket taker in this edition, and he was always overshadowed by Jasprit Bumrah. But I really doubt whether Mumbai would retain him. I would assume that they will put Boult and de Kock back in to the auction, and will try to purchase them back, at less than $1 million each. The current salaries are $310,000 and $393,000 respectively).

You are right. de kock and pollard Both are much more necessary for MI. And more important than the two of them is Jasprit Bumrah. Then I think it would be a good decision to omit Pandya. de kock played much better than Pandya. If MI give up de kock, they will not get a talented opener like him.

Lahore Qalandars made a massive 182 runs in the Eliminator 2 against Multan Sultans. David Weise scored 48 runs in just 21 balls and that innings was very entertaining.
I hope Lahore Qalandars would win this match and reach the finals.

After long disappointment, Lahore Qalandars got on top. They have easily beaten Multan Sultans by 25 runs, thanks to the brilliant batting of David Weise they put up a formidable total. Adam Lyth gave Multan Sultans a great start they put up more than 90 runs in 10 overs, after that they fell away, with the serious pace of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. We have got a very good final in store. Both teams have made it in the final for the first time.

Lahore Qalandar easily won the match and now will play the final with Karachi Kings.
What a dream final between two big cities of Pakistan  Smiley

This was the moment of the match when Haris bowled Afridi on the first ball and apologizes with joy.

Harris Rauf's apology after dismissing Afridi, that's called is called great honor and respect, however it's the beauty of cricket somehow. Later on Shahid Afridi praises Haris Rauf's yorker that got him out last night. Afridi remarks as unplayable yorker, being modest is the key and that is the thing that pay you back.

Look forward to an exiting match tomorrow, Lahore vs Karachi

@Xavofat while your points are valid, but MI will yet choose Pollard because he’s marketable and in T20 format he’s a bigger brand then De Kock is. @bryant.coleman I don’t think that it’s so easy to replace De Kock, because once you look at his stats you’ll realise that he should not leave MI.

If I have to chose between Pollard and de Kock, then I would go for the former. Pollard is someone who is capable of single-handedly winning matches for his team. He can destroy the opposing team in a matter of one or two overs, by thrashing the bowlers all over the park. De Kock is a good player, but he doesn't have that ability to win matches on his own.

I don't think they will leave De Kock. My guess is, they might hold on - Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock & Jaspreet Bhumra, and Hardik Pandya. I think de Kock played better than pollard. All teams will want to get an experienced opener like de Kock. And there are a lot of good players for the position that pollard is batting in. So I think they will give up pollard, and keep de Kock.

My justification is that de Kock can be replaced. But it is very difficult to find someone of the calibre of Kieron Pollard. If they release him, then he can easily fetch a price of more than $2 million during the auctions. And for de Kock, it is possible to replace him with some of the Indian players (Wriddhiman Saha or Dinesh Karthik if they are released by their franchises), or with international players (Joshua Phillipe, Tom Banton, Alex Carey.etc).

You are right. For a team like MI, DC, or SRH, with the exception of 7/8 players, it is difficult to select 4 players. . Because their team was very stable. This is the most difficult task for the Mumbai Indians. Because almost all of their players played well. Every player has a contribution to make to the team’s victory. Even no one was formless. I want to see which 4 players they choose.

Here is my guess. They may retain - Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. They may bid really hard for Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Trent Boult, but it needs to be seen whether they will be able to get a majority of these players due to the limitation with the purse. But without players such as de Kock, Kishan and Boult, the Mumbai Indians would lose their identity that they built during this edition of the IPL.

After a long time i have seen Muhammad Hafeez in this good form. Lahore Qalandars were 3 wickets down at 25 but still he held his nerve's and later played aggressively and took his team towards the win. Yesterday both matches were thrilling and full of entertainment and suspense.

Hafeez was in poor form during the recently concluded National T20 Cup. His performance against Zimbabwe during the T20 series was also disappointing. He is already 40 years old, and there were suggestions that he should retire from active cricket. But he proved his critics wrong. Perhaps it may be better for him to concentrate on his role with the Lahore Qalandars, similar to what MS Dhoni is doing with CSK now.

CSK will not be happy with their skipper performance this year and i am 80% confident that we do not see Ms Dhoni as a CSK captain for the next season. This season was the worst IPL season for the CSK.
I did not watch the Hafeez innings yesterday but he needs to perform consistent if he wants to remain in the international team.

Dhoni by next year may or may not even continue playing IPL. Somehow, I felt this was the last IPL which he played. Also, CSK missed Raina badly because Raina has always performed well in PL for CSK. He was not able to deliver in international cricket in last some matches which he played but IPL was like his best days during those times in cricket. That also made the middle order stringer for CSK which was lacking this time.

The IPL should let go of annual actions as it is impossible to get behind a team if you are following the team because of your favorite player in the team and if they keep on changing teams it is hard to follow a particular team, they already have the ability to transfer players and if i remember correctly every team has a limitation on the amount of money they can spent and these restrictions should be removed as well, let the open market decide the worth of a player .

I completely agree with your suggestions. This idea of salary cap is just crazy. They should remove it, so that the best players will receive the best contracts and salary package. Also, I believe that they should increase the number of players who can be retained to 6 from the current limit of 4. Anyway, if they remove the salary cap, then these retentions won't be needed. It is really irritating to adjust with the changing team composition after every season. There needs to be some stability in the squad composition.

I still cannot blame Ms Dhoni completely for their failure, some of their main players withdrew from the tournament and when that happens it is difficult for any captain to maintain the balance and they never had any great players that could take their place and fill the middle order spot of Raina and they came back strongly in the later part of the tournament and won the matches with conviction spoiling other teams qualifying dreams. I am sure they will come back stronger in the next season.

You never know. The next IPL auction is scheduled in a few months. The franchises can retain only a maximum of 4 players. This can have a huge negative impact on franchises such as Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. They will be forced to release some of their best players. Selecting 4 out of 7-8 key players can be cumbersome for the team management as well.

DC will perform way better in the future, their performance was way better than other teams in this season. A few changes within the team batting line up and I do not think it will be possible for MI to win against them in the next IPL season.

The primary problem with them is that they are a young team which lack experience and that is the main reason for their inconsistent performance. Given time and more exposure these guys can perform in the future.

No one would argue against Delhi Capitals having their best season in the history of IPL but the second eliminator was a good match but then when it came to the final they lost it completely the moment they won the toss in the final and electing to bat and then went on to loose early wickets and MI dominating the match from the start and then when MI was batting the DC bowlers failed to picked early wickets and where does the competitive aspect comes into play Grin.

This is one of the reasons why the franchises are sticking with experienced players, rather than going for the younger ones. Delhi Capitals do have a large number of young players, such as Iyer and Pant. But none of them have shown an ability to perform under pressure. And this goes for the younger players in the other franchises as well. In many cases, DC went on to lose matches, which they could have won.

What an over bowled by Saqib Mahmood, he just picked up two important wickets of Fakhar & Tamim. Now Lahore Qalandars need 144 runs to win this game in 16 over.Peshawar Zalmi made 170 in first innings.

It's a great match Shocked. You know, 170 runs was not an easy target. But Lahore Qalandars reached their target within just 19 overs. I have seen how aggressively Mohammad Hafeez has played. His stormy batting helped Lahore Qalandars to win the match easily.

I agree with you, but at the same time the younger players such as Shreyas Iyer, Prithwi Shaw and Rishabh Pant won fewer matches for DC when compared to Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada. I am not going to deny the fact that Shaw, Iyer and Pant scored a lot of runs, at a good pace. But at the same time, what I feel is that they don't have the ability to do the same when the come under pressure.
The reason Delhi Capitals struggled in the later part of the series is because Prithvi Shaw went out of form and they struggled to put a good opening partnership along with Shikhar Dhawan and find a replacement and Shreyas Iyer failed to score at a good strike rate even though he scored a lot of runs. I was impressed by Anrich Nortje and his pace and they missed a player that could increase the strike rate in the later part of the innings considerably like Pollard or Hardik Pandya and they did not use Marcus Stoinis or Shimron Hetmyer to fill that space.
